Jamie Michael, Ex-Royal Marine Put on Trial for Southport Video, Speaks Out After Being Found ‘Not Guilty’ in 17 Minutes

Jamie Michael, the former Royal Marine who served in Iraq and Sierra Leone, has given an interview to the Telegraph in which he says he felt betrayed by his country after he was charged over a Facebook video in which he “voiced opinions” about illegal immigration two days after Axel Rudakubana murdered three schoolgirls. Thankfully, he had the Free Speech Union in his corner. The Telegraph has more.

As a young Royal Marine, Jamie Michael served in the Iraq War and two tours as a peacekeeper in Sierra Leone.

However, after spending 20 days remanded in prison for posting a video online urging people to exercise their democratic rights over illegal immigration in the wake of the Southport murders, the father-of-two believes his country has now betrayed him.

This week, a jury took just 17 minutes to unanimously clear the Welshman of stirring up racial hatred with a Facebook monologue he recorded after the attack in July.

Mr Michael now fears freedom of speech is under threat from a “two-tier” legal system that has treated “unfairly” those who “spoke out.”

Speaking from his home in Penygraig, in Rhondda Cynon Taf, the 46 year-old massage therapist scrolls through the 12-minute clip he made on July 31st, two days after Axel Rudakubana murdered the three girls in Southport.

“I felt like crying,” he said. In the video he urged people “to get ready”, adding: “It doesn’t mean getting bats and knives and stuff … I’m talking about doing things the right way: getting in big groups, having meetings, going to the council, police, the politicians, the councillors.”

By his own admission, he expressed some views “clumsily”. In the video, he said: “We’re under attack, they’re taking over our country,” and described some illegal immigrants as “scumbags” and “psychopaths”.

He wrongly said Rudakubana, now 18, was not born in Cardiff.

“But, it was because I expressed my fear [that] the Labour Party is helping more migration that I think the video was seen as politically motivated,” he said.

An unnamed member of staff working in the office of Buffy Williams, a Labour member of the Senedd, reported the video to police.

On Aug 9th, Mr Michael was arrested and kept in police custody for three days. He then appeared before magistrates and was denied bail.

“Apparently I was likely to commit ‘further offences’ – it was suggested I even had terrorism intentions,” he said. The lowest point in prison was singing “Happy Birthday” down the phone to his daughter when she turned nine, he added.

“It was all a shock – I [had] never seen the inside of a prison,” he said. His only conviction was for a driving offence 14 years ago.

Upon his release on bail after more than two weeks in jail, he tackled head-on claims he had stirred up racial hatred, reassuring acquaintances that he was not racist.

On Feb 4th, a jury at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court was told that Mr Michael had been “unrelentingly negative” towards migrants in a clip he had distributed to stir up racial hatred.

However, his barrister, paid for by the Free Speech Union (FSU), which campaigns to protect freedom of speech, insisted it was “beyond obvious” he was not referring to all migrants, explaining how his main cut and thrust had been for more security in schools to protect children.

When the jury retired the next day to consider its verdict, Mr Michael bought a cup of tea, anticipating a long wait. The drink was still piping hot when he was summoned to hear their not guilty verdict.

“I let them know how thankful I was,” he said.

“When I voiced my opinions, the full force of the law came down upon me. Millions of other people have the same concerns about unvetted and unchecked males coming into the country after throwing away their passports.

“I think there are many people in jail today who shouldn’t be there.”

Mr Michael remains bewildered as to why the authorities who prosecuted him have yet to remove his video from Facebook. It has now had 17,000 views – 6,000 more than before his arrest.

Referring to how the Prevent counter-terrorism scheme “prematurely” closed its case on Rudakubana and failed to call him a terrorist, Mr Michael added: “Yet I talked about getting people together to talk about these dangers and they say I had terrorist intentions and was in the wrong.”

Dr Bryn Harris, the FSU’s chief legal counsel, said his organisation was “delighted” the jury saw through the “disastrously misconceived prosecution” of a “decent and honourable man who served his country with distinction, and who did no more than exercise his right to speak out on political matters that affect us all.”

He added: “The police and the Crown Prosecution Service now need to ask themselves how so much taxpayers’ money came to be spent on what seems to be a political prosecution.”

Worth reading in full.

“disastrously misconceived prosecution”

There are some people who behave as if political ideas are ‘more real’ and ‘more important’ than what actually exists.

He won the court case, but I would argue that he has lost a lot. He lost 17 days of his life on remand, and has lost every day since, not knowing if he would be again sent to jail upon conviction. He has lost part of his spirit, bewildered as to why the country he served would treat him like this. He is lost part of himself because he will forever be bitter about what happened to him. He has lost what little faith he had in his own state to treat him fairly and to take care of him when falsely accused. He has lost what faith he had in the criminal justice system. He lost that birthday with his daughter. I think he has lost some of his inner peace over this. I think the rest of us have also lost, having lost a bit more of our own inner peace to the anger that is rising. I know for certain that *I most certainly am angry.* I sent this message to a friend a while back, during a text discussion about the state of the country; I wouldn’t fight for this country in a Third World… Read more »

Of course he has lost a lot. Life stolen to fighting injustice.

But we all lose if we don’t fight. The time we lose to fighting is returned tenfold to our children, so they may fight their fights.

Depressingly, we expect this of TPTB but surely there is a corner of hell waiting for all those “unnamed” people who accuse people they know nothing about of non “crimes”.

“I think there are many people in jail today who shouldn’t be there.”

And conversely, there are many enemies of our country and people who now occupy ruling positions, and who should be in jail.

Jamie is absolutely correct, though, inconveniently for the Uniparty government, and things seem to be getting worse in the UK, not better. The UK is ”under attack” by ”scumbags” and ”psychopaths”. The evidence is all around. Can’t move for people sharing reports of their own personal experiences like this online; ”In Reading a man was seen chasing girls armed with a knife. The police are doing little. A brand new follower gives me the inside story. Hi David, I’d like to remain anonymous please. Me & my family live in Reading. “Today I came home from work to hear my children, who are in primary school, had an emergency lock down in their classrooms just as by wife was picking our kids up. “The reason was there was reports of a man walking around the area with a knife. I spoke to my kids about the lockdown and they were visibly scared especially my 5 your old little girl.” “My eldest goes to a secondary school near by & they have been practicing lockdowns in their classrooms already. She is in her first year of secondary school. “Just last week there was a man outside her school telling the young… Read more »

Some illegal immigrants are “scumbags” and “psychopaths”, but not all. Just like some legal immigrants and white nationals are “scumbags” and “psychopaths”.

The bigger issue is that of illegal immigrants, who should have no legal rights, they are not here legally, they have entered and remain in the country illegally. Even worse if they have committed a criminal offense.

This does not imply that people should be able to physically harm (except in self defense) or kill them.

If they become known to the authorities, they should be arrested and expelled.

If they wish to be considered for asylum they should apply to the authorities on entry and present their case.

Legal migrants clearly have rights, but if they commit serious criminal offences (not parking or speeding etc.) they should be expelled, if they have not become citizens.

I think that recent mass-shooter in Sweden would qualify as both a “white national” and a “psychopath” because he deliberately targeted an adult education centre frequented by immigrants. He could’ve chosen any busy area to open fire if he just wanted to kill people randomly but he chose this place. 11 people, including himself, dead. Not sure if all of his victims were immigrants… So it’s also important to remember that ‘traditional’ racism has never gone away, though some people on here seem to be under the impression it has, but this anti-white racism is something new and a very recent phenomenon. Well, for those not in South Africa, of course. The thing which sets this type of racism apart is that much of it is perpetrated by actual fellow whites against their own race, specifically those in positions of authority. By comparison, when do we ever hear of black authority figures being racist towards/discriminating against fellow blacks? It’s like this peculiar thing exclusive to the white race. Even the BLM commies were not racist against their own race but white Marxists cannot stop demonstrating how racist they are towards other white people. It’s bizarre and unnatural. The ultimate betrayal.… Read more »

Well done, Jamie Michael, for standing up for yourself, and well done FSU for standing up on your behalf.

No sign of compulsive human rights litigators standing up for the human rights of Jamie Michael and other posters of perceived hurty words, many of whom coerced by Home Office and Police Disservice into pleading guilty, to avoid being remanded in custody.

Same human rights mafia nowhere to be seen from that Ides of March weekend onwards, coming up to five years ago, when the human rights of entire populaces were locked away, to Stop the Spread of a respiratory virus with an age-fatality profile that paralleled general mortality.

Two-tier human rights evident for some time. The right sort of human rights for all sorts of people of dubious credentials, and the wrong sort of human rights for Jamie Michael and the rest of us.

As for, “an unnamed member of staff working in the office of Buffy Williams, a Labour member of the Senedd” – another upstanding member of the bonkers Celtic fringe.

Strange times we live in. Rule by state-sponsored truth twisters.

Well I am sure he is correct and nobody likes to be misrepresented. But why should being “racist” be a problem? What is “racial hatred” and what is “stirring it up”? Maybe some people just don’t like people of other or certain races and maybe actually lots of people feel like that and would rather not be forced to live with them. Shouldn’t we be made aware if this is the case? Hate is a strong word and is probably used to imply violence and putting people in concentration camps or whatever, but it’s a human emotion, as is strong dislike. Maybe after decades of seeing your views ignored, you feel such rage that it seems like “racial hatred” when actually what has happened is you are sick of being betrayed and ignored.

By the way, well done to the FSU.

I agree completely tof. Even if somebody openly declares themself to be racist does that make them a criminal? Of course not. In fact, in today’s Britain given the great lack of racists surely announcing oneself as racist should earn protected minority status should it not?

If you’ve got 4mins, watch this clip. Racism in South Africa, except it’s the whites who are on the recieving end. Nothing new, of course, but the persecution of whites, particularly farmers being murdered and illegal land-grabs is getting worse not better. These poor people i would accept here in the West, no problems. Of course, their ancestry is over here anyway, so integration wouldn’t be a problem;

But why should being “racist” be a problem?

Accusations or “racist” are really accusations of heresy which are designed to make people shut up. This is why the madleft have adopted the racialist and anti-white idea that only white people can be “racist”. This idea is central to the madleft’s scheme to abolish the English people, and is why white people who seek to defend their people, culture, civilisation, and homelands are routinely described as “racist”.

Superb post, Transmission! You are spot on: “hatred” is just one of many natural, God-given human emotions, and there’s nothing wrong with it, nor with “racism”, which is just preferring to live in peace among your own ethnic group or tribe.

Tribalism, banding together with your own people, is how mankind managed to survive for thousands of years.

“Hatred” and “Racism” are normal human emotions, and no one should be ashamed of them, nor accept the outrageous Marxist Propaganda that they are somehow “crimes”.

Islam is a primitive and barbaric ideology which is incompatible with western civilization. Importing its ardent adherents into our country in mass is destroying our nation. The political class has betrayed the citizenry and Enoch Powell has been proven correct.

Thanks to Lord Toby for providing the main points of the paywalled Telegraph article on Royal Marine veteran Jamie, and for the link to Patrick Christys’ interview with one of the Free Speech Union’s Warrior Legal Team.

Luke Gittos demonstrated a great depth of understanding of the “Common Man”, the shock and despair of ordinary British citizens facing the overwhelming might of the government and judicial system ranged against them.

I do not understand how any citizen can be denied bail and held indefinitely on “remand” without having committed any violent crime, or posing a threat to the public. It beggars belief.
