Democrat Lawmaker Gets Sterilised Because of Trump Presidency

A Democrat lawmaker in Michigan has undergone a sterilisation procedure to avoid becoming pregnant while Donald Trump is in office. The Telegraph has more.

Laurie Pohutsky, a Democrat, said she went through with the surgery because she believed that the US President could choose to ban contraception.

“Just under two weeks ago, I underwent surgery to ensure that I would never have to navigate a pregnancy in Donald Trump’s America,” she said at a protest on Wednesday.

“I refuse to let my body be treated as currency by an administration that only sees value in my ability to procreate.”

The 36 year-old continued: “If you know people who are questioning how serious this is, I’m going to repeat myself: a sitting government official opted for voluntary sterilisation because she was uncertain she would be able to access contraception in the future.”

Mr Trump repeatedly said before taking office that he had no intention of banning contraception, after suggesting in May that he was “looking” at the proposal.

Ms Pohutsky made the remarks to hundreds of people protesting the second Trump administration on the lawn of the Michigan Capitol.

Michigan Advance reported that several activists carried signs likening Mr Trump to a Nazi and taking aim at Elon Musk, the Tesla billionaire and ally of the US President.

Because nothing says “I’m not a hysterical woman” quite like ripping out your womb.

Why would you feel sorry for her? She’s an adult making a choice. Bodily autonomy, and all that…I strongly suspect she wasn’t exactly on the market for having a baby anyway, seeing as she went to these lengths to ensure it wouldn’t happen. I mean, why didn’t she have a baby when the Demtards were in power? So I smell a rat, to be honest. Trump never ever said he’d ban contraception. You can even buy it online anyway. My suspicion is that she never wanted to procreate, probably always intended to get sterilized, and now she conveniently gets to use this as some political protest bollocks. It’s sad, attention-seeking desperation in order to make a point, is what it is.
To be honest, I’ve not read the full article so maybe she has kids already, I’m not sure. In which case it’s hardly a shocker. It’s all just about using any opportunity to badmouth Trump, forever the bad guy, as far as these deranged numpties are concerned.

Why do I feel sorry for her?
Because she is sacrificing something valuable (her potential to have children) for something useless (a dumb, stupid ideology).
Because she has been deceived.
Because she is a human being.
Or maybe because I’m getting old and soppy. I’m only human, after all.

And the vast majority of women know by the age of 36yrs if they want to become mothers or not. Seems awfully strange, if she ever did want to have a baby, why she didn’t do so already, or even why she didn’t think ”Fk it! I’m nearer to 40yrs than I am 30yrs old, Trump’s after banning birth control so there’s no time like the present!” She never planned on being a parent. Women don’t get sterilized in these circumstances. It’s seriously suss. Men can reverse a vasectomy, for women it’s a one-way street with no ability to do a U-turn.

Maybe you are old and soppy but what makes you think she’s been deceived? She’s old enough to make her own mind up what she thinks, she’s not a child, she doesn’t need patronising

I mean let’s face it, swathes of the population in the West have been deceived into thinking men can become women and vice versa. There has been extraordinary levels of deception on a variety of different issues and it would be no surprise that people have been taken in. I mean a lot of Democrats didn’t believe Biden was senile and were constantly told that he was of perfectly sound mind…

I suspect you’re right about her motives and possibly right about her situation. I still think it’s kind of sad that someone would take such a step to make a political point (a point that is missing the point, for the reasons you state) – indicative of someone who is not perhaps enjoying life to the full and completely well balanced. But as you say, it’s her choice.

I feel more sympathy for the teens and young women who’ve had their healthy breasts removed, all because they were preyed on by the trans/gender identity cult. Obviously many young males have gone and gotten irreversible damage done to themselves too. So vulnerable young people who’ve been brainwashed into believing they’re in the wrong body trump this stupid cow for being deserving of sympathy, in my opinion. She’s 36yrs. She can do whatever the hell she likes with her body as far as I’m concerned.

Agree about the teens. I believe in letting adults go to hell their own way but it still saddens me to see people of any age making what seem to me like needlessly self destructive choices that I cannot believe will make them happy, but I guess we’re all different and maybe those choices are absolutely right for them.

Mogwai

But if she was never going to have babies anyway how can it be described as “self-destructive”? It doesn’t make any difference does it? She would’ve just stayed on birth control until her menopausal years, so either way it’s the same outcome.
What this woman is doing is shouting this personal decision she’s made about her body from the rooftops, attempting to politicise it, making a right plank of herself in the process. It’s as desperate as it is pathetic.

transmissionofflame

Reply to  Mogwai

Desperate and pathetic. I think taking an irrevocable step like this to signal your virtue is self destructive even if it’s very unlikely to make any practical difference, as you point out. Life takes away choices from us anyway, but I think one should leave those choices open to oneself unless the consequences of doing so are dangerous, which doesn’t apply in her case.

Wiki:
Pohutsky is openly bisexual.[9] In February 2025, she revealed she’d undergone sterilization in the prior month, saying “I refuse to let my body be treated as currency by an administration that only sees value in my ability to procreate”.
And from her X bio:

Chair of Michigan Progressive Women’s Caucus • Millennial Microbiologist • Progressive Democrat • She/Her

Wonder what a Millennial Microbiologist does? Is it different from any other kind of Microbiologist?

Another example here. If reality doesn’t fit with their inner narrative then they need to deny reality. Even if it means telling a person they’re basically lying because it’s not what they want to hear. The protective bubble of delusion must be kept intact at all costs;

”Only a leftist white woman would have the audacity to tell a black man that she doesn’t believe him when he tells her that no, Israelis were not racist to him but Arabs were. This woman lives in a mental prison of her own making.”

Congratulations, madame, you made the right choice. I totally agree with your assessment that there’s no value in you procreating, slim as the chances at 36 may be for a woman who has been ‘on hormones’ since her period started. Despite it was but a small step for you, it was much greater one for the planet!

[Hands up everybody who’d join the queue if this lady was offering free sex … What? … Well, yeah, I rather go home myself, too!]

Isn’t it it ironic. Here we have a woman who is afraid that the government could block her access to an abortion.

Meanwhile multiple millions of people across the world went to great lengths and often personal risk during Covid to find doctors who would supply fake vaccination credentials.

This speaks volumes about relative levels of personal initiative and creativity.

Contraception, not abortion. And even that’s entirely hypothetical. Trump has probably – if at all – dared to express support for families with children and that’s enough to make these types go ballistic. They’re regularly doing that in Germany as well because supporting families with children is right-wing extremism (not a joke — the arguments runs roughly That’s what the Nazis did [correct] and hence, anbody who …. must be a closet nazi!)

Her idea of mother is likely roughly cow supposed to birth calves for the profit of its owner.
Viewed through that lens, her ability to procreate would have a value to whoever she believes the owners to be, completely regardless of her. In reality, this just betrays how much she looks down on women who do get children despite that’s Bad for the Planet™.

“Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenceless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed – in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.”

She should spare a thought for these Thai women:

Women kept as slaves on HUMAN egg farm: 100 victims are fed hormones and treated like cattle, with eggs removed and sold each month by gangsters | Daily Mail Online

“The woman said they were held captive on a ‘human farm’ in the eastern European country of Georgia by a criminal organisation led by Chinese criminals, who sold their eggs on the black market.”

Several commenters wondered who was buying these eggs, and one offered three reasons:

— Thai babies are in high demand in China because of their more Ethnic European eyes, with a smaller epicanthic fold.

— Genetic research

— “Omelette”. Human caviar. A cannibalistic attempt to preserve youth.

I’ll believe she’s been sterilised when, and not before, she provides proof.
Does she not realise that even if Trump wanted to ban contraception it would be impossible for him to stop people buying condoms online from non US based companies or that half a lemon in the correct place may be effective? Either she’s clueless or is just making stuff up to try and make a point.
