Lego Can Be Anti-LGBT, Says Science Museum

Lego can be anti-LGBT, the Science Museum has said. As part of its ‘Seeing Things Queerly’ tour showcasing “stories of queer communities”, Lego bricks are said to reinforce the idea that heterosexuality “is the norm”. The Telegraph has the story.

A self-guided museum tour on “stories of queer communities, experiences and identities” includes a display of Lego bricks alongside a guide stating the plastic blocks may reinforce the idea that heterosexuality “is the norm”.

The tour, devised by a Gender and Sexuality Network at the museum, also claims in the ‘Seeing Things Queerly‘ guide that Lego adds credence to the view that there are only two genders.

This is because people supposedly describe Lego bricks as having male or female parts that are made to “mate” with each other.

This is “heteronormative”, the guide states, which is the idea that “heterosexuality and the male/female gender binary are the norm and everything that falls outside is unusual”.

The Science Museum guide claims that people think “the top of the brick with sticking out pins is male, the bottom of the brick with holes to receive the pins is female, and the process of the two sides being put together is called mating”.

No source is provided for the alleged view that people consider Lego to be gendered, or that sticking bricks together is called “mating”.

The claims have been criticised by the charity Sex Matters, which campaigns to retain women’s only spaces and sex-specific services.

Fiona McAnena, Director of Advocacy at Sex Matters, said: “The Science Museum’s self-guided trail on all things ‘queer’ is completely bonkers, and includes some absurd claims.

“The idea that Lego is ‘heteronormative’ because the blocks are described as ‘male’ and ‘female’ is ridiculous.

“Children who play with Lego don’t need to be told that some people say fitting Lego blocks together is ‘mating’.

“People expect to be informed, educated and inspired when visiting the Science Museum, not to have dubious claims rooted in gender ideology forced on them.” …

The Science Museum Group, a family of museums across the country, is led by Sir Ian Blatchford.

The former banker has spoken out against “woke” causes, and in a piece for the Telegraph in 2021 he warned that cancel culture was the enemy of the culture sector, saying museums must “steer clear of political activism”.

Why do these folks seem to see everything in the world around them as having a sexual context. Some might think they are just colossal perverts.

That’s the basic thesis of Matt Walsh’s book What is a Woman?

Bsically, that sex education in schools was started and promoted by a set of people that turned out to be pawdophiles and perverts. What is presented as eduction is actually a way to sexualise kids.

And if one thinks about it, never in the history of humanity was it ever necessary to educate anyone about sex. Somehow everyone managed to figure it out and procreate. More successfully than they do now, one might add.

The only thing sex education has accomplished is making kids aware of adult sexual themes much earlier than they would otherwise. Basically what pervs and paedos would want.

That’s a very good point actually – why on earth did we ever start having “sex education” in schools?

Well it’s a natural progression from being taught human biology. It’s difficult to teach about the reproductive organs and all of the physiology involved in these male and female systems without going into some detail regarding the function. However, I think things are very different to when I was at school and we got shown a video, and I remember we were just giggling, squirming in our seats and feeling mortified, with kids making daft comments, and that was called “Sex Ed”. There was none of this talk of multiple genders, anal sex and putting a condom on a banana stuff. The material people post online that young kids are being exposed to is crazy, entirely inappropriate.

Same for me when I was at school. I suppose it is part of biology, yes – but it seems to have been extended WAY beyond that.

Sigmund Freud used sex to explain everything. He was projecting his own problems onto others. His followers now think this is the norm.

I don’t think this would fly in the U.S nowadays would it? Where Trump has just gave women’s sports back to actual females, exclusively. Words of wisdom from J.K, as ever; ”This ‘why do you care about a tiny fraction of the population?’ line is, and always was, utterly ridiculous. Gender ideology has undermined freedom of speech, scientific truth, gay rights, and women’s and girls’ safety, privacy and dignity. It’s also caused irreparable physical damage to vulnerable kids. Nobody voted for it, the vast majority of people disagree with it, yet it has been imposed, top down, by politicians, healthcare bodies, academia, sections of the media, celebrities and even the police. Its activists have threatened and enacted violence on those who’ve dared oppose it. People have been defamed and discriminated against for questioning it. Jobs have been lost and lives have been ruined, all for the crime of knowing that sex is real and matters. When the smoke clears, it will be only too evident that this was never about a so-called vulnerable minority, notwithstanding the fact that some very vulnerable people have been harmed. The power dynamics underpinning our society have been reinforced, not dismantled. The loudest voices throughout… Read more »

Ah OK so things that connect with one another are anti-lgbt?

Nuts and bolts, locks, keys, nails, screws, joints in wooden structures, plugs and plugholes, doors and doorframes, plugs and electricity sockets, ball and socket joints in the human body. I don’t have the time to think of other examples, doubtless there are many.

Let’s stop connecting things together, because that’s just too sensible – let everything fall apart! Clowns.

Lego without the “male and female” would be a useless pile of bricks that would just topple over.

Well spotted. Ban them now! Jenga is OK as all the bricks are smooth and the same but then the pile falls over, which just about perfectly describes these twits.

Thinking about it, I am given to understand that “G” people (the G from lgbt) do stick things in holes sometimes. Pretty sure the “L” people have been known to do that also. So do “B” people, sometimes. Also the “T” people go to great lengths to either remove or create “male” and “female” bits. So their stupid nonsense doesn’t even make any sense in their own idiotic world.

Yeah exactly. I think these “T” people would be more comfortable using Fuzzy Felt. Less offensive.😶

I wonder if these quarter-wits object to the nuts and bolts that hold their cars together, and the nasty, penetrative male screws which pierce the innocent, virgin female wood and plasterboard holding their houses up?

Utterly ridiculous.

Well I don’t recall anyone ever describing Lego bricks as male or female since more them are both. But try to get the right parts in engineering that you need without using male or female and see how far you get.

These people are deeply disturbed and dangerous.

Fitting Lego bricks together is building, to consider how they fit together and make a sexualised issue of that is just wrong!

Its a Childs toy!

So are mains plugs and sockets, and many cables also anti-LGBTQ+? Probably, by their thinking!

These people are just mentally ill, pure and simple!

Redefining normality, instead of accepting they may be different, which used to be celebrated – by some!

Trump may have his faults, but his actions on these issues are absolutely spot on, stop indulging the dangerous and mentally ill.
