Police Force Accused of Risking Safety of Man who Burnt Quran by Publishing His Personal Details on Social Media

A police force has been accused of endangering a man who burned a Quran by publishing his name and address on social media despite the current risks faced by people who criticise Islam. The Telegraph has more.

Martin Frost, 47, admitted a religiously aggravated public order offence after being filmed tearing pages from the Islamic holy book and setting them alight in Manchester on Saturday.

Greater Manchester Police included his name, date of birth and the borough where he lives in a post on X announcing he had been charged.

Free speech campaigners warned the case could lead to blasphemy laws being “reintroduced by the back door” and leave Frost at risk of retaliation.

In a letter to the force on Tuesday night, the Free Speech Union (FSU) said other, similar protests have provoked violent retribution.

Lord Young, the FSU’s General Secretary, said in the letter that this “should never have been a police matter” and claimed that by naming Frost so publicly the force “may well have placed him in great jeopardy”.

Stephen Evans, the Chief Executive of the National Secular Society, told the Telegraph the “conviction of a man for burning a Koran brings us perilously close to reinstating blasphemy laws”, while Tim Dieppe, Head of Public Policy at Christian Concern, claimed police are “enforcing Sharia law on Britain’s streets”.

Mr Evans added that public order laws should be reviewed, saying: “If laws designed to maintain peace and safety are being used to punish individuals for offending religious feelings, then blasphemy laws have been reintroduced by the back door.”

Frost, from Stretford, Trafford, was bailed on Monday after pleading guilty to a single charge of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, toward a passer-by, Fahad Iqbal, who tried to intervene in the incident.

Frost was in custody when Greater Manchester Police posted his details on X. The first line of his address was withheld by the force but released later that day in court.

On Monday, Manchester magistrates’ court heard he had told officers he was protesting in solidarity with Salwan Momika, an anti-Islam activist who was shot dead in Sweden last week.

The court was told how he had publicised the event online beforehand and that it was live-streamed on social media.

Robin Lynch, prosecuting, told the court a crowd of supporters had gathered near the Glade of Light memorial to the 22 victims of the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, last Saturday afternoon when Frost began tearing out pages of the Koran.

Mr Lynch said Mr Iqbal tried to intervene, but Frost shouted: “This is what I think of your Koran. Islam has no place in civil society.”

He said Frost ripped out pages, saying they “talk about paedophilia”, before setting one alight. He then threw the book in the river nearby before being arrested.

In his victim impact statement, Mr Iqbal said: “I was quite shocked, disgusted and offended. I’m a Muslim. I still can’t believe someone would do this. When he began to burn the Koran my heart was about to break out. This is the most emotion I have ever felt.”

“Islamic holy book” apparently.

When was the Bible last referred to as the Christian Holy Book?

I suppose Bible will suffice, there is after all only one Holy Book.

Time we used that term and demand that it is respected and protected. Just fecking do it. Feck with their brains. Use Muhammadan tactics against the establishment and the Muhammadan invaders. Fight. Fight.

“He said Frost ripped out pages, saying they “talk about paedophilia””

I don’t know much about this stuff but a friend of mine was brought up Muslim and the statement above was very much his view.

I expect the publishing of his personal details on social media was very much intended to be part of the punishment and the process, to discourage others.

Moh, 54, had sex with a 9 yr old. His favourite sex slave was the white coptic Mary. He had over 20 sex slave, probably a few were very young. Not to mention the 80 military campaigns he led.

Mein Koran is as bad as Mein Kampf. A manual of war and sex slavery. Christophobic to the extreme as well (5:33 kill execute humiliate and crucify those who cause mischief ie don’t follow the moon deity and Moh)

But the Mein Koranic verses adjuring the destruction of Christians and non-Muslims is never ‘hate speech’ of course.

I wonder how Mr Iqbal’s heart felt when he heard of the Hamas tapes snd murders of Jews.

While it may be needlessly provocative to publicly destroy revered books from any religion I have never understood why Islam alone is allowed to get so upset.

With the decline in adherence to Christianity there must have been millions of family bibles destroyed when homes if the deceased were cleared out. There were no protests, no violence and no complaints about the loss of mere chattels.

Perhaps I missed it but was there any justification mentioned in that article for why the police thought it necessary to share publicly the guy’s address? They even shared his date of birth! How on earth is that deemed relevant? The one and only reason I can come up with is that they wanted to deliberately put Martin’s life in danger, as well as any family he’s living with. This isn’t just careless it’s malicious intent, and now it’s been shared it doesn’t matter if it’s retracted as the damage is done. Let’s see if it’s not like Batley school all over again.

”Victim impact statement”??! WTAF? So would Martin not have been arrested ( coincidentally, I’m sure, by two non-white Starmtroopers ) had this Muslim wet blanket not got in a right Tiswas and had a whinge, maxing out his victim card, so’s to get the guy in trouble? Pathetic. Anyhow, if Martin gets sent down and that Ricky Jones doesn’t then there’ll be hell on. Meanwhile, I’m with Rafe. If you don’t like Western values such as freedom of speech/expression, you know where the door is; ”Labour’s new Islamophobia blasphemy council is a threat to free speech as it could criminalise criticism of cousin marriage, grooming gangs etc Remember: 1. Islamophobia is not racist. Christianity isn’t a race & neither is Islam 2. Islamophobia is an insidious term created to advance an Islamist agenda & silence opposition through the strategy of victimhood. We must stop using it. 3. Any “Islamophobia” law that stifles criticism of the religion and ideology of Islam is, quite simply, a blasphemy law How did we arrive in this chillingly dystopian world? The term “Islamophobia” was first popularised by the violent & extremist Muslim Brotherhood as “an ideological weapon to silence critics” of Islam and to “criminalise… Read more »

So when this man is killed, and the police and judge are found guilty of causing it, who will pick up the bill for compensation? We will. Then if as appears likely this man and his family have to go into hiding and identity changed who picks up the bill for that? We do. Finally no doubt the perpetrators of future guaranteed attacks on this man will be protected from being identified by the same police and Government, and anyone writing in social media or indeed voicing dissent will be imprisoned as being anti cultural sensitivity. Oh one other thing there must be literally trillions of perfect Korans in the world if it’s an offence to do anything that might deteriorate a books perfection, so is there a Koran inspection police, inspecting every Muslims Koran? secondly if a faith and belief is strong it’s not predicated on a book a physical entity. it’s based on true belief, anyone who gets upset by a man-made written, printed article being damaged would indicate that faith is very fragile But that’s just me. I haven’t noticed the same concerns for blasphemy against Catholics, Christians, Jews , Hindus etc by ours or other Europe… Read more »

Note the apparent ethnicity of the two arresting officers. Two-tier policing strikes again. Arrested for wrongthought against the new state-sponsored religion.

Meanwhile the faith that King Chuckles swore to defend can take its chance.

The Crusades began in the late 11th century, The Moors controlled much of 14th century Iberia, the Ottomans were at the gates of 17th century Vienna. Holy Wars lasted on and off for centuries.

That was back in the days before international airline travel, rubber dinghies, Home Office Dysregulations and government by edict of pixies, gnomes, imams and community relations officers. All prostrate and face Mecca.

They say “what about Islamophobic attacks”…….There are already laws in place for public harassment and common assault. Should someone who assaults someone for a whole host of reasons, assuming it is not aggravated, be treated differently because they didn’t like Muslims. These people are deliberately mixing harassment and criticism to close down free speech. But there was quite a lot of child marriage in those days so to single out one religion when we were all at it is disingenuous.

I can’t see their badge numbers either.
Are they in fact paramilitary?

One of the most disgusting pieces of police malfeasance ever seen, in a crowded field.

We require a Koran burning million man March.

I stand with Frost, even though as a rule I loath book burning – an individual doing it as a legitimate protest is one thing. A university or government doing it as a question of policy is of course quite another.

By the way, I have a Koran. It is unreadable shit. On a level with the greentard book “there is no planet B”.

So Mr Iqbal was at a memorial for young kids blown up by a suicide bomber yet the burning of a koran caused him to be quite shocked, disgusted and offended. I’m a Muslim. I still can’t believe someone would do this. When he began to burn the Koran my heart was about to break out. This is the most emotion I have ever felt. That sum it up really doesn’t it?

And so yet again one rule for one, another for another, should anything happen to this man, his family should be perfectly within their rights to sue, the Police are there to “serve and protect”, all not just the minority, and if the muslim guy is so offended, suggest he goes and lives in a muslim country.

How many other books that had pages torn and burned would lead to prosecution for the person who did that? ——-NONE. So why this particular book? Because we all know that this country bends over backwards to accommodate Muslims, panders to their every petty grievance, and runs scared of upsetting them to the extent we try to pretend thousands have raped and groomed young white girls. —We are a total bunch of cowards and deserve all that is coming to us.

Iqbal is not a victim of anything we recognise in Britain. We do not and I hope shall never protect what people do or think about the Koran. There is not and should never be a blasphemy law in Britain. We are a tolerant country, with our laws based on the morals of Christianity. Thank God, we will not downgrade them to the laws of Islam that allow the despicable crimes carried out by Islamists in our country. Our government, judges and police need to make it clear we do not and will never accept Sharia law, although there are many so-called Sharia courts set up. Somebody in authority needs to clearly say they are not and will never be recognised in our country. Starmer has been bought and paid for by Islamists and has no interest in protecting our laws or our culture. People who want to live under Islamist laws and its despicable culture should leave Britain and move to an Islamist country, we do not want their culture or the despicable behaviour of Islamic extremists here.
