Questioning Covid and Climate Change is “Seditious” Says Britain’s New Chief Censor
After the riots, the censors.
For all that we now know about Axel Rudakubana’s horrific crimes, it remains the decided view in officialdom that the countrywide disorder that followed them last summer was principally caused by social media – or rather, by people speaking their minds on social media. As I have written here before, such a view formed an essential part of the political narrative put out by Sir Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper about the riots – repeated, for instance, by judges from the bench; in Pravda-like Department for Education guidance on how to talk to schoolchildren about what happened; and widely in the media. But it is now also – surprise, surprise – the official view of Ofcom, the broadcast regulator, and all its attendant online-censorship enthusiasts.

‘….selective use of information……a sin of lockdown sceptics also committed by Net Zero sceptics’
In fact, a sin committed by the entire human race, encyclopaedias, particularly wikipedia and, most particularly, as we now know, by ‘artificial intelligence’
This country badly needs to return not to ‘1984’ but to 1990.
Much if not most legislation, excepting that (not without major flaws, though) of Brexit, since 1990 has been entirely nugatory
Parliament must recall that its job is not to legislate. Its job is to represent the wishes and best interests of the British people.
That means delegislation, deregulation as well as legislation.
As President Trump has said….for every one new regulation, get rid of ten old regulations…..
Parliament must recall that its job is not to legislate. Its job is to represent the wishes and best interests of the British people.
But from the marxo-fascist point of view, advocating representative democracy is now “sedition”. This is because there is a class of people in our country who possess what I call Wise And Numinous Knowledge – W.A.N.K. for short. These W.A.N.K.ers think that they know everything important, and that, correspondingly, we, the ordinary members of the public, know nothing of any significance. Therefore we must be silenced.
Actually Parliament’s job is to protect the citizenship from the State by not allowing the passage of any Bills into law that are not in accord with the letter or spirit of the Common Law or undermine it and the Rights of the People, nor to allow taxes to be raised detrimental to the economy of the People.
But since Parliament and the State are now one, it is the instrument of the State and we thus are an autocracy.
Spot on U.K.Column have been banging on about this for years. No Minister of State should by right be in the House of Parliament our system has been corrupted unlike the USA where the state is separated from Parliament as RFK Jr. is brutally finding out.
I know what you mean Jeff. For me, one of the archdeacons of W.A.N.K is Barry Gardiner. He has this truly annoying way of speaking – really slowly, overemphasizing every word, so the thickos on the panel can recognise his genius and fully understand just how stupid they are, which is why he has to speak sooo slowly. Of course, in reality he comes across as arrogant and more stupid than the rest.
“As President Trump has said….for every one new regulation, get rid of ten old regulations”
Hear hear!! One Trump is worth 650 of those buggers (excuse the language but that’s how I feel!).
Parliament’s job is to hold the executive to account on behalf of the people, a job that is now virtually impossible given the the government employs a huge number of MPs and wields influence over those who aspire to be part of our bloated government – why do we need a Minister for Steel other than to oversee the closing down of our steel production? So a lot of people in this country are not represented by their MP with the most glaring being those lumbered with the Speaker and Never Here Kier, although he is making a fleeting visit today for PMQs enroute to Newcastle for the cup match and then god knows where next on his world tour.

They can build all the surveillance and Berlin Walls they want.
It will all come tumbling down.
They’re not coming for you because nobody is really listening to you (except us oddballs on the Daily Sceptic).
But develop a big enough audience and they’ll come for you for sure.
Indeed, at the local pub or club you could and still can hear the most extreme views and comments but nobody generally cares because it is just ‘pub talk’. People now have the means to spread those views far and wide, the views and comments are much as they always have been, it is the power of disseminating those views to a wide audience that is the big change.
But even that may change, if the landlord overhears you….

I love being an Oddball!
It because the truth hurts!
They’re really desperate to put the social media genie back in the bottle.
It’s really fascinating watching this process and what it reveals of free speech.
Strictly speaking we have free speech and always have (in modern times anyway). What we clearly don’t have is the freedom to disseminate our speech. Or more precisely we never had it because all media was ultimately sufficiently controlled. But as soon as social media gave us the power for anyone to be able to say anything and reach millions, that’s when the establishment has lost its mind. That they won’t tolerate.
In short we can say what we want but they want to control who hears it.
We can say what we want (in theory) because the political establishment is convinced that whatever we say, it’s not going to matter. Or used to be convinced of that. Our freedom is roughly that of a domesticated cat. For as long as we don’t make much of a nuisance of ourselves and don’t crap on the floor too often, we’re free to mind our somewhat limited own business within the boundaries of the enclosure as this is an endless source of mild amusement to our owners. Until they stop being amused and put us down instead, maybe breaking our spine with a few kicks before this¹.
¹ Real-world horror story about what happened to a domesticated cat I used to know in the past. The kicks are conjecture. But the broken spine was real and I have some trouble imagining how a rather young cat could manage to break its spine.
Reminiscent of the behaviour of the Roman Catholic Church when those who challenged it started translating the Bible from Latin which few outside the Church understood into the vernacular so everybody could understand it, revealing that the Church had been telling porkies about what it actually said and meant. Thus the Church lost the monopoly on what people were told and led to believe and think.
So Church authorities aided and abetted by secular authorities went after those who printed copies not in Latin, smashing printing presses, burning unauthorised Bibles, imprisoning, torturing and executing those who printed, published and distributed the “seditious misinformation”.

I think a lot of these issues come down to people not wanting to be wrong, or at least seen as wrong. Saving face, job protection, narcissism etc whatever. Hitler thought he was right, look what happened!
OFCOM or the Department for Propaganda as it should be known.
Think Laurie was implying OFCOM = Ministry of Truth.
One really should examine the names given to Government Ministries more carefully:
Treasury : Responsible for doing anything but treasuring our tax money.
Education : Responsible for ruining our educational standards and making proper study and learning extremely expensive for students. Also dumbing everything to a few tickboxes, while making teachers spend all their time filling in even more tickboxes.
Housing: Removing a good quantity of housing from the least able to buy a house. Remove private landlords, and make public ones house illegal migrants!
Local Government: Centralise everything and remove any local democracy.
Home Office: Fail to look after the indigenous population and consider some groups more valuable than Brits.
Foreign Office: Ruin relations with our greatest ally, and poison relations with everyone else. Appoint Ambassadors with ridiculous political leanings to carry out this.
That will do for now, but does any one of these do the job implied by the title? So 1984!!!
I read an article once that said that the Industrial Revolution occurred mainly in Britain rather Europe because most of Europe at that time was under the yoke of Spanish Inquisition censorship, whose main objective was to stamp out heresy and ensure that only the truth, as seen by Rome, was seen by the people. A bit like Online Safety Bills. Human progress only happens where there is dissent and discussion, as this allows new ideas to form.
But remember that the Industrial Revolution was actually a bad thing and is causing the planet to spontaneously combust, so presumably it would have been better if Britain hadn’t been so free…
The industrial revolution started in Britain in the 18th century. By that time, the ultimate faltering of the attempt of the Catholic inquisition to reconquer central Europe lay already about a hundred years in the past. This was the peace of Westphalia in 1648, which effectively eliminated the German Empire as political entity of its own to replace it with a highly fractured set of princedoms usually at war with each other and ultimately controlled by the two crowns¹ who also had acquired large swathes of German territory in the process.
In Germany, the industrial revolution only started in the 1870s when the warring princedoms had finally reached a stable state under Prussian dominance and there was again time for commerce and people reaping the benefits of internal peace in the German territories of Europe.
¹ Sweden and France.
“Seditious” –
Conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of the State….
Guilty. I’ve been doing this as often and wherever I can ever since Clown World began, which for me was the hint of compulsory “vaccination” being the only way to salvation.
We know the powers that be lie, but by God what is happening is beyond evil – and bastards like him revel in it.
It’s a very poor choice of words by this man, who is either showing his true colours or his ignorance.
“Stephen in his History of the Criminal Law of England accepted the view that a seditious libel was nothing short of a direct incitement to disorder and violence. He stated that the modern view of the law was plainly and fully set out by Littledale J. in Collins. In that case the jury were instructed that they could convict of seditious libel only if they were satisfied that the defendant “meant that the people should make use of physical force as their own resource to obtain justice, and meant to excite the people to take the power in to their own hands, and meant to excite them to tumult and disorder”.”
I’m not sure that a return to normalcy is achievable at this point. Many freedoms are written in blood. My hope is that the cat is out of the bag with enough people by now compared to 2020, therefore they can censor as much as they like, they will fail just like the Warsaw Pact in 1991.
This may be wishful thinking, but every tyranny in history has eventually fallen.
Usually to be replaced by something worse.
Jus’ sayin’
I’m not sure if former subjects of Stalin and Mao would agree.
That used to be the standard, because physical force used to be the only way really to displace established power when said power had full control of the means of mass communication.
Social media has made it very possible to pose a serious challenge to established power. Which was fine at the beginning when they thought it could be used to provoke revolutions like the “Arab spring”, but not so fine when it turned inwards and let to Brexit and Trump and other ghastly anti-establishment projects.
So now anything that runs ragged through social media and seriously challenges the establishment is seditious.
If you think about it, it’s always been like that in history. Established power has always wanted to stamp down any serious of challenge to its authority. Back, back in the day the most brutal punishments like being hung, drawn and quartered, was reserved for so-called traitors.
Yes, I would agree with that analysis. It’s quite convenient for TPTB that social media can also be “toxic” and full of “dis” and “mis” information – easy to point to content most people would find offensive or people saying the moon is made of cheese and use “protecting people” as an excuse to censor the other stuff that really frightens them.
Or ‘things we don’t like’ to paraphrase. I’m not a fan of football, but I don’t expect everyone else to stop talking about it and enjoying it – it’s none of my business what others enjoy, they can do what they like within the law.
governments don’t appear to understand this concept.
Yes it their business what they waste their money on, like a season ticket when some of the players are on around thirty grand per week. I’m no socialist but that is obscene!
Some are on much more than that!
2016 is over and so is the Brexit and Trump meme. At least Brexit was also an organized affair and not some kind of grassroots uprising. That’s still evident today in that the echoes of people playing on anti-German stereotypes which have been drilled into the population beyond all reason to help with that are still strongly reverberating¹.
I’d be extremely cautious towards anybody trying to play the Brexit and Trump melody in 2025 (9 years after both were a surprising phenomenon). That’s most likely a propagandist for the other faction also seeking to take people for a ride.
¹ Very short: WEF stooges ruling Britain — evil globalists! Same WEF stooges ruling Germany in the exact same way – damn undefeated German Nazis still running the complete show!
And the Iron Maiden.
That reminded me of Rupert Lowe who was a guest on GB News last night, he said that he didn’t have the jab, and the coercion involved was a scandal…..And he does a bit of metal detecting…..If Farage deserves one pint, Rupert deserves a Lorry load of beer.
I think every free man or woman should practice that when necessary
Sedition, eh?
Why don’t they go the whole hog and call it Treason. It’s Treason to think for yourself and disagree with Government policy …. even though, in a “democracy” with a Government and an Official Opposition, we’re supposed to have a choice of policies and decide which one we believe/support.
That’s what Henry VIII would have done.
Off with their heads.
Careful with the Treason thing, they may find they’ve been practicing Treason for far too long.
In science you question EVERYTHING. —–If you cannot question it then it isn’t science. It has turned into POLITICS. That politics seeks to turn it into a Scientific Dictatorship where truth is simply pronounced. We see that particularly with the issue of “climate change” where it is constantly referred to as the “climate crisis” or the “climate emergency”. This wording seeks to imply that the “climate crisis” is something we can all see in front of us like an elephant or pillar box, and anyone who questions any aspect of it is like someone questioning whether elephants or pillar boxes exist. Elephants clearly exist though as I have seen them at the zoo. I have also put letters into pillar boxes, so I know they exist as well. —–Climate Change on the other hand is not something I can say for sure I have ever seen. I don’t look out of my window in the morning and say “Wow, look at all that climate change”.—— So then I ask “Are storms or floods or droughts increasing in frequency or intensity?”. If so, how do I know if they are increasing because of human activity? If they are not, then what… Read more »
I was thinking of the WW2 pillboxes ….There was a pill box register online once too. There is one in Hereford and it is someone’s garden shed! I often pass a Signal Man’s Hut along the Railway, the chimney seems in working order. Would be cool to light a fire there just like old times.
“They are expressing a point of view which I describe as seditious.”
And at that point, the cat leapt out of the bag.
The worst exponents of the “selective use of information” are of course the BBC.
Alternative sources have information have exposed this organisation to be nothing more than crude purveyors of a carefully curated narrative which, principally by omission, exists to ensure there’s no dissent from the status quo.
Ofcom (stuffed with ex-BBC people according to accounts) is the body tasked with ensuring this.
As more and more people uncover the real agenda behind the “climate emergency” and the mass vaccination push, our overlords are starting to panic.
Keep pushing. The alternative is slavery.
Never trust an earing wearing Lib Dem, especially with a cognomen like Baron Allan of Hallam—-“Crazy name, crazy guy!?!”. (Apologies to Glenda Slagg).
But you have Angela Rayner ( Muslim brown-noser extraordinaire ) currently working on British blasphemy laws ( because there is no actual ‘free speech’ where Islam is concerned, let’s be honest ), so that’s alright then. Meanwhile, the guy who was arrested for burning a Koran has been doxxed and had his full name and date of birth plastered all over social media by GMP, so he’ll most likely have a target on his back going forward. That’s presuming he survives prison; ”A new bipolar order of speech is unfolding before our eyes. On one side, the United States is energetically recommitting to its free speech heritage. Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, the UK and Europe are tightening the noose of censorship. This divergence is not just a policy debate—it is a fundamental split in the Western world, one that will determine whether future generations will live in freedom or under the shadow of state control. Consider the case of Billboard Chris, a Canadian father known for his viral street advocacy against gender ideology. In March, with the support of ADF International and the Human Rights Law Alliance, he will stand trial in Australia—not for actions taken on Australian soil, but for… Read more »
Ah! But don’t you see that Axel Rudakubana’s horrific crimes were crimes against a few individuals. The alleged two tier policing arose because unmoderated messages on social media might have embarrassed the Government. A far more important issue to The Powers That Be.
Our very own January 6th incident perhaps?
[Irony, sarcasm, cynicism]
And don’t forget how social media caused the riots and all that unrest, much like the knives are responsible for all of the non-stop stabbings.🙄
No wonder the Leftards hate Musk and Trump. They’re losing control and as a consequence are 💩ing it. Knowledge is power, truth is their kryptonite, and free speech platforms are the vehicle by which it is delivered and disseminated.
We will have allowed and moderated official Truth.
Incidentally I FOI’d his local police force to ask if he had been the subject of any Non Crime Hate Incident reports but apparently they don’t have to tell me because it’s “personal” information. Don’t know if that’s because he was under 18 or whether they are always personal.

A Pedant writes:
He is not “Lord Richard Allan”, Laurie – such a title would be borne by the younger son of a Duke or a Marquess. He is simply “Lord Allan”; if you want to include his first name, then “Lord (Richard) Allan” would be better.

How very appropriate!
Who’d have imagined “Big Brother” would look like Kris Kringle.
He looks like a smug git.
Oh no – sedition!
Can we expect, assuming they allow elections to proceed, the wholesale arrest of certain candidates for espousing their parties’ opinions on their election addresses and social media posts?
Use the same tactics that left wingers use to get their views out. Play by their rules, see what happens.
Good article by the way. Would be good to see more original content in DS and less simply linking to the Daily Telegraph et al. Appreciate it’s easy said than done but that’s the direction to go in.
Off-T, but a hilarious post from Boriquagato/Bad Cattitude relating to DOGE in the US.

Sedition… rebellious disorder – isn’t that how previous despots have been removed?
JFK “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
He also said: “A nation that is afraid to let it’s people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”
This Dick Allen is a busybody; a Fart-Finder General. He’s been, here there and everywhere: a right Puck. A Lib Dem MP until he let himself be ousted for Clegg to be drafted in. Several years later he miraculously became a Baron. He’s 58 but looks 68 due to the carefully cultivated white beard. I’ve found those that cultivate a more grown up, distinguished look are anything but. He’s childish, hence the earrings – for goodness sake. Oh, and he’s worked for Facebook as an interfering busybody.
Could someone please throw a light on this:
Will the proposed censorship include text messages, emails and internet searches?
When questioning an official truth is referred to as seditious viewpoint, neither this official truth nor the people officiating it can have much of a leg to stand on.
Thank god the printing press is not completely dead. There is The Light Newspaper that is not scared to cover anything no matter how dark. That is probably why Miss Spring and the BBC did a hit piece on them, not with very much success but most of the dumb public are clueless so thought they just exposed some conspiracy nutters.
The muppets in power have created the most laughable police force in history. We’re supposed to be scared. Jog on.
What a fabulous opportunity.
I really look forward to this new opportunity to embarrass the government and others.
Plus the opportunity for legal challenges to embarrass OFCOM when they refuse to deal with government and media misinformation and disinformation.
I also look forward to challenging a bloke who looks like the bloke in the photo. What a weird looking fellow. Is he the one in charge?
Does he not realise what he looks like with a beard like that?
Cap’n Birdseye has a better idea about a beard than that guy.
Suggests a lack of judgement over smalls things indicates the same over more weighty issues.
If he removes the moustache the image would be complete. I never ever trust the judgement of a bloke with a beard and no moustache. A guy with a worse beard than Cap’n Birdseye clearly has judgement issues IMHO.
I think I will start with misinformation and disinformation in medical publishing: How the Case Against Andrew Wakefield Was Fixed – In Eight Steps The series documents the deliberate elaborate intentional and systematic fabrications perpetrated by three editors of the British Medical Journal in 2011. These editors publicly accused a doctor, Andrew Wakefield, of committing fraud in a scientific paper published in the Lancet medical journal which implicated the MMR vaccine in causing autism in children. When challenged the BMJ failed to contest any of the facts or threaten defamation proceedings. They just issued a lame statement “We stand by the publications concerned and the processed by which they were produced.” Over one year on from publication and not a word from the BMJ or any of the editors to complain. Gulty m’lud. Five short introductory videos give a comprehensive overview free of charge without a paid subscription. You will also get detailed evidence with quotes from the medical records of the children concerned. The anonymised medical records were read out in public in… Read more »
It seems we have too many power hungry totalitarian nutters working to kill free speech which once Britain was proud for and was the shining light of. What gives these people the right to do this? It can only be governments aiming for full totalairealism using these despicable puppets to achieve their aim step by step. It has already gone too far- how can we stop it and undo the damage already caused?
