Number of Children Who Think They are Wrong Sex Surges 50-Fold

There has been a 50-fold rise in children in England who think they are the wrong sex in just 10 years, with two thirds of them girls, analysis of GP records suggests. The Telegraph has more.

Analysis of GP records suggests there were 10,000 diagnoses of gender dysphoria in England in 2021 – up from fewer than 200 cases in 2011.

The University of York study shows a sharp rise in the number of girls with such concerns, with twice as many cases as in boys.

More than half of those with a gender dysphoria diagnosis had anxiety or depression or had self-harmed, the research published in the Archives of Disease in Childhood found.

The study is the first to give a detailed picture of the scale of gender distress across the country.

Until now, most research has been based on small numbers going to specialist services, whereas this study is based on a large sample of GP records.

It follows the landmark Cass review, which warned that children who think they are transgender should not be rushed into treatment they may regret, and recommended the banning of puberty blockers for under 18s.

Researchers drew on anonymised electronic health records between 2011 and 2021 for those general practices in England contributing to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink database.

During this period, 3,782 children and young people up to the age of 18 had a diagnosis of gender dysphoria documented in their medical record.

Analysis of the data showed that between 2011 and 2021, incidence rates of recorded gender dysphoria rose from 0.14 per 10,000 to 4.4 per 10,000 person years in this age group.

If this pattern were repeated nationally, it would mean more than 10,000 people aged 18 and under had a diagnosis of gender dysphoria in 2021, equivalent to one in 1,200.

This compares with fewer than 200 cases in 2011, equivalent to one in 60,000.

The Establishment has got to give itself a pat on the back and a round at the pub! The brainwashing has been a huge success!

Indeed. If this nonsense had not been pushed in the media and elsewhere, I strongly doubt this “surge” would have been found.

Same with Rona and the plandemic and fake virus.
Same with ‘Climate Change’ whatever that nonsense means.
Same with Queer and Tranny rights, mental illness is not a right.
etc.
Money, propaganda. Keys to find ‘the science’.

Kids like to be on trend. This is the latest band wagon to jump onto.
I remember when my lad became an emo, dyed purple streaks in his hair and wore eye make-up. It wore off in both senses.
He is now a dad and will face who knows what new challenges when his lad grows up becomes a teenager in the late 2030s.

As a doctor on GB News said this morning, if you have a class of 30 children with 18 claiming they are the wrong sex you know something is wrong unless you are one of those promoting child abuse and mutilation.

If that’s the outcome of state education for children, there’s something seriously wrong with the educator selection process.

The solution to this problem is exceedingly simple: Keep transgender activists away from children before puberty, who don’t even yet know what their sex actually is, to stop them from stressing them out with “gender bullshit” and promises of support if they obey, especially, keep them away from children vulnerable to being preyed on by adults in this way.

The headline shouldn’t be “number of children who think they are the wrong sex surged 50-fold” but “number of children victimized by adult transgender activists surged 50-fold.” This is, indeed, as Biden put it, the civil rights issue of our time, because it’s about protecting small children from industrial-scale abuse with seriously harmful consequences for them by politically-motivated zealots.

Until recently, that headline would have read  “number of children who are the wrong sex surged 50-fold”. It may not seem like much, but it’s a huge step forward.

Tell me again how social media is not an insidious force which can be (is) used to brainwash people?

Not surprised to learn that 2/3 of those being brainwashed are girls – my daughter spends hours scrolling through stuff (I pay her not to have TikTok), I think girls are probably more susceptible to this poison.

So-called social media is just people communicating with other people over the internet. Insofar something non-desirable or even harmful results from that, it’s because of the people who were involved and not because of the medium which had been used.

If your daughter spends our with aimlessly consuming distractions presented over the internet, this suggests that she’s pretty bored and has no other ideas how to kill the time. It should be possible to address this.

You are correct, I agree. Social media has gone far beyond the altruistic and innocent aim of connecting people, however. It is (ab)used as a forum in which to promulgate harmful ideologies, and it is up to parents and competing ideologies to ensure that the sinister elements do not have the monopoly.

I would stop short of deplatforming these harmful ideologies though, as to do so would make me a hypocrite – as I believe in free speech – in keeping with my libertarian philosophy. Education, and exposure of the inner workings of the harmful ideologies is the way to combat this.

You’re assumptions are backed up by the stats, that there has been a huge surge in girls impacted by this.

I tend to agree with Wesley’s statement below, although this is a complex rather than a black and white issue, because mental health problems are infinitely complicated. Is it more girls are susceptible because more girls have body image issues and pressures to look a certain way compared to males? Is it because girls are way more likely to be sexually harassed or abused than their male counterparts? Could it be a manifestation of wishing to de-sexualise oneself to avoid getting male attention? I’ve known women who have been abused and they eat and eat and became morbidly obese due to their eating disorder. It’s a type of self-abuse and it results in, among other things, becoming less attractive to the opposite sex, therefore getting less unwanted attention as it makes them uncomfortable. But it can also go the other way and females become painfully thin and require hospitalization in order to be force-fed. I’d wager these girls ( and to a lesser extent, boys ) are already showing signs of self-harm, disordered behaviour and are likely on some sort of psych meds, but it’s an area I’ve never delved into so don’t know the data on this. Just a… Read more »

Herein lies the problem, this is no longer classed as a mental health problem. If it was, we’d be in a different place entirely

At football practice, mums were chatting about a supposed “cat” in one of their schools. It’s absolute madness, that mist can see but few have the courage to speak out on.

Out of interest, I wonder how many also have a diagnosis of ASD/neurodiversity?

Then of course, the question becomes what’s causing the increased prevalence of ASD?

There’s definitely a relationship between the two, but more research is needed to establish a causal mechanism.

I think people are right to be concerned about the damage that social media does. There was an American study that found a large rise in suicide and self-harm among children from about 2014 onwards. There was a survey conducted which asked children which modern invention they hate the most and the highest number said the smart phone because it meant that their parents spent time on their phones when they should’ve been engaging with their children. You need to set an example. Smash the phone against the wall. Tell your son to put away childish things and then build an assault course in your back garden designed for maximum pain. You have to go full Spartan given the poison that you are fighting. His exhaustion will wear off and it won’t take long for his manhood to come shining through.

A lot of lads will love it if you introduce them to a harsh regimen. T.S. Eliot remarked about it in the 1950s. How the developing male needs difficulty and obstacle. Robbing young men of this is like keeping an active dog changed up and unable to exercise. If we had an industrial society this society could could be perhaps the best in the world when you consider thenature of the English psyche and the fusion of the technoligical and the aesthetic. Like Concorde it was perhaps the most beautiful machine ever invented. Try to discern just how emasculated we have become over the last century. If you look at law restricting gun ownership this will give you a good overview of the defanging. Understand what they took from you so that you are able to demand it back.

This OAP recalls teenage years as being a strange mix of exhilaration, confusion and angst. Like going in and out of dense cloud and clear skies at altitude in an aeroplane.

All about transitioning from one phase of life to the next. Seems too many diverse disreputables interfering nowadays. Let nature take its course and left to their own instincts most kids will come out the other side, just like youngsters have since time immemorial.

If memory serves right, somewhere in Families And How To Survive Them, a dialogue between John Cleese and the late psychiatrist Robin Skinner first published in 1983, there’s a conversation discussing the teenage years.

All down to what used to be called the Birds and the Bees.

Our time produces all sorts of monstrosities in others and ourselves. I think you have to accept this when you live in a time of high strangeness. All you can do is be the best person you possible can be in terms of your intentions and abilities. No amount of internet research is going to be able to provide you with a satisfactory answer. There is no answer stop asking what will happen tomorrow. The beauty conveyed by the present to the future brings it about so develop a love of futurity and the beautiful skies to come. The past speaks to the future. There were gnostic fantasies written about if the Nazis had won the war. The point is that we could reach a point where they did win the war. So take hold of what you can control and wield it and get a good feel for it.

Concerningly, the Scottish Administration has completely ignored the Cass report. An affirmative appach is still being taken in schools, even primary’s where we should be most cautious, girls and boys are being enabled to use changing and toilet facilities of the opposite sex, not to mention, how this is breaking a child’s inate reaction to risk, all in the name of dignaty.
Not on my watch.

If it surges it is because children are being brainwashed by ideological crap in schools that fills their heads full of nonsense. Children are very susceptible to having ideas planted in their brains. I was behind two teenage girls in a train a few years ago and being young they did not have the sense to keep what should have maybe been a private conversation private. So I heard almost all of what they were saying to each other. One said “I am not sure if I want to be boy”. The other replied “I think I fancy boys and girls”, and so it went on with the two of them blurting out the most insane garbage. Government and Education Policy are to blame for destroying childhoods.

It’s the fashion. Also, the said children are totally confused, what with multiculturalism, identity politics, collapsing levels of family unit survival, promotion of the interests of minority groups, social media, and increased suppression of free speech, so they cannot even question much of this societal dynamic. No wonder there is such a huge rise in mental health issues; anxieties; and claims of gender dysphoria.
