Universities Have Been Made Racist by Courses Focused on “Undertakings of White People”

Degree courses focused on the “undertakings of white people” have made universities racist, according to a review by a Russell Group university that has pledged to make reparations in response. The Telegraph has the story.

The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent undertook a joint review of their connections to the slave trade, and set out how these have created a legacy of “racism” at the institutions.

They pledged to make slavery reparations as a result of their review, which found that the universities’ “racially unbalanced curriculum” ignores the “equally significant efforts of people of African descent”. The report does not state in which specific subjects this parity of achievement has been ignored.

Its authors, a group of Nottingham academics, concluded that “these are issues that require urgent and sustained attention”.

Under the pledge made following the review, the universities are set to devise a plan for reparative justice to atone for links to slavery and mitigate “enduring detrimental legacies”.

No definitive plans have yet been made to address the issues raised in the report.

The report was overseen by a steering group that included six people appointed by the two universities who “identify as black”. Authors credited their “biological proximity to the historical atrocity of slavery” with raising awareness of “ongoing emotional pain” throughout the project.

The report into the connections between Nottingham universities and the slave trade stated that key benefactors, the 6th and 7th Dukes of Portland, benefited from slavery despite both having been born after abolition.

Descendants of family members who may have directly owned slaves benefited from the social and “cultural capital” that came with wealth initially generated through forced labour, according to the report.

Such cultural capital, the report states, may include the aristocratic cultural conventions of “reading classical European literature” and “travelling to historic landmarks”. …

In August, the Telegraph revealed that the University of Nottingham had removed the term “Anglo-Saxon” from university module titles as part of efforts to refute “nationalist narratives”.

Worth reading in full.

Such as…?
Examples, please.
In comparison with the achievements of white, European culture, so that we can see what we have overlooked.

equally significant efforts of people of African descent

I was struck by this too. Who are these people? Where are they? Let’s have the names. Or is the the truth that there is no “equally significant” effort?

Africans had sold upward of eleven million slaves to the Islamic world.
Mensa Musa King of Mali was the biggest slave trader and worker of slaves in the world, millions were forced to work in his mines, he was a black African offen referred to as the richest man who as ever lived.
Bazil, subsaharan Africa, ireland took 10s of thousands of English slaves including the 16 year old st Patrick, the middle east and Aisa were all massively involved in the slave trade from before the Atlantic slave trade..and STILL ARE!
and don’t forget the Roman,Ottoman and Egyptian empires, massive slave traders!
Go to hell cherry picking Trent University

Spoken with all the confidence and privilege of thick twerps ignorant that today’s luxury lifestyle predominantly derives from the industry and inventiveness of generations of indigenous British antecedents.

Otherwise we’d all still be slopping around in medieval ordure.

As Professor Clint Eastwood reportedly said to a bunch of snowflakes, “You didn’t pick cotton and I didn’t own slaves.”

More turkeys voting for Christmas.

These tone deaf idiots seem not have understood yet that the great British public’s tolerance for this sort of bullocks is wearing thin, especially at a time when the rape gang scandal is finally gaining traction, which whilst unrelated, the mentality of the imbeciles responsible is broadly comparable.

Got a black hole? Cut off funding these unpleasant racist and historically ignorant people.

Perhaps these black-identifying people should take ownership of their hole and pay reparations to us whiteys.

Surely you need the ability to think if you want to call yourself a University? There appears to be zero intelligent life at Nottingham, therefore surely it is a University in name only (UINO?). A complete joke of an institution.

I think the game of these people is misappropriation of funds for political causes and they’ll be trying to keep that going for as long as possible.

Who “identify as black”. What does that mean? Maybe that is the solution- we all identify as black and therefore we are not racist! LoL

A cunning plan. I already enjoy black humour, so that is a start.

It’s inevitable that as time goes on our New Dark Universities will get worse and worse. Still the sheer thickness of the anti-whitists is a wonder. For example the “University” of Nottingham “undertook a joint review of their connections to the slave trade”. But I looked up the history of this New Dark Age establishment, and discovered that it was founded in 1881, nearly fifty years after the wicked whities abolished slavery, and over seventy year after the wicked whities made the slave trade illegal. In other words, the “University” of Nottingham had no connection to either slavery or the slave trade.

Just like the original sin its supposed to mimick, slaver-y (not slavery) is an endlessly inheritable trait. All descendants are forever damned and must forever shell out $$$ to US-based “victim associations.”

The interesting thing about anti-whitism, though, is that only wicked whities can inherit this “sin”.

Not sure about university courses, but from school and since, I am aware of the contributions of people as diverse as Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Muhammed Ali, Obama ( hmm maybe forget that one), Nelson Mandela, Mary Seacole, and I’m sure others if I thought a little longer. What am I missing here?

You are mistakenly assuming that observable reality matters more than alternate forms of knowing. This marks as white-privileged slavery profiteer who must shut up and pay up.

“There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs-partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

Surely the best thing would be for Ethnic Africans in the West to
ESTABLISH THEIR OWN UNIVERSITIES, with THEIR OWN MONEY,
staffed by THEIR OWN PEOPLE,
and offer only courses focused on AFRICA and its contributions to the vast store of human knowledge and achievements.

It would be better for all people, those of ‘African’ and of other descent alike, if the Americans behind this were firmly told that they should fix race relation in America instead of trying to force-export American race riots to the rest of the world.

This is plain insane but, if anyone is to pay such reparations it should be the descendants of the families who were the direct beneficiaries. It most certainly should not be the universities. They should remember that the same families who ran the slave trade also stitched up about 95% of the British population who, at the time, had a terrible existence, rife with exploitation and little/zero justice. The descendants will, no doubt, be happy to wring their hands but quietly leave the institutions to pay.

Just shows we need a lot fewer universities. This will cut immigration and would free up a lot of rental properties if the students go home.
