Only 20% of Muslim Americans Voted for Kamala Harris

Are Muslims abandoning the centre-Left? It certainly appears so.

British Muslims have long been a reliable pro-Labour voting bloc. In 2019, when the party was led by Jeremy Corbyn, around 80% voted for Labour. The figure was similar in 2017. At this year’s election, by contrast, only around 60% voted for Labour – a 20 percentage point drop. What’s more, Labour lost four seats to Muslim independent candidates, plus another to Corbyn – who now stands as an independent.

The reason for this exodus is simple: many Muslims were dissatisfied with Labour’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Research by the Economist shows that the percentage of Muslims intending to vote Labour fell sharply in the months following the October 7th attack, and only recovered slightly the following year. Meanwhile, the percentage of non-Muslims intending to vote Labour was unaffected.

Looking across constituencies, there is a strong negative association between the percentage of the population that is Muslim and the change in Labour’s vote share. In other words, Labour’s biggest losses were seen in seats with large Muslim populations.

With all that said, Labour still managed to retain around 60% of Muslim votes – which is actually very impressive when compared to the Democrats’ recent performance.

As in Britain, Muslim Americans have traditionally voted overwhelmingly for the centre-Left. In 2020, around 77% voted for Joe Biden, helping him to take the swing-state of Michigan (which has a sizeable Muslim population). This year, by contrast, only 20% voted for Kamala Harris – a staggering 57% drop.

Once again, the reason is simple: Muslims opposed the Democrats’ military and diplomatic support for Israel, which Harris refused to disavow. Of those who didn’t vote for Harris, the vast majority (53% of the total) cast their ballots for Jill Stein, leader of the Green Party and outspoken critic of U.S. support for Israel. Slightly more Muslims voted for Trump, the man who once implemented a ‘Muslim travel ban’, than voted for Harris.

It’s worth noting that Harris would still have lost the election even if she’d retained high levels of support from Muslims. However, a 57 percentage point shift away from her party is quite remarkable.

The next major Western country to hold an election will be Germany in 2025. Both the Social Democrats and the Greens are expected to do far worse than they did in the last election, which may in part be due to Muslim voters abandoning them over their support for Israel. (Germany is Israel’s second largest arms supplier, after the U.S.)

Centre-Left parties lost much of the support they once enjoyed in traditional working-class communities due to their stance on mass immigration. As a consequence, they have come to rely heavily on votes from ethnic minorities, especially Muslims. It is a kind of poetic justice that Muslim voters are now deserting them.

Oh these fickle voters! If only we could find a way of ignoring their wishes!

I am not convinced Israel is the only issue.

Surely the Dems’ unbelievably idiotic woke policies will have been loathed by decent socially conservative Muslims.

It seems to me to be a much more plausible reason.

Indeed “transgender”, same-sex marriage, unlikely to be a crowd pleaser with Muslims.

Just a heads-up for peeps in the UK. This site is a work in progress because he’s still adding to it, but you can stick your postcode in the search bar and see if there’s any migrant hotels nearby you. He’s still adding hotels but is hoping to finish it ( although it will need to be updated regularly ) by the end of Jan next year. And it’s not like the local press are going to be forthcoming in letting residents know in advance that they’re going to have a load of migrants dumped on them, so kudos to someone for taking this initiative. Not sure if it also includes old military barracks, student digs and the like, as it’s not as if the Home Office are only taking over hotels to house these people;

I tried that and it showed me the nearest hotel (The George Hotel, Reading). They seem to take bookings and hence, the hotel is very likely not used to house illegal immigrants.

Yeah I can imagine keeping such a map up to date requires more time than perhaps anticipated as there’ll be accommodation changing back into the regular sort, so that the public can use it once again, and also vice versa, very regularly. So I think he’ll rely a lot on the public keeping him posted of any changes. So perhaps that hotel once was used for migrants but no longer is. I thought it was a nifty idea though, but hopefully he can pull it off so it works in practice too, as I think many people would want to know this information about their communities.

Probably worth to Check the trip advisor reviews. Some friends stayed in a hotel with floors of migrants and paying floors.

This is a pretty small former coaching inn from the 18th century and I usually walk past it at least once per day, sometimes more frequently. I would have noticed if there had been any substantial change in the business or its surroundings.

I was referring to generally. Based on my experiences during Covid, Trip advisor takes down any off-message reviews. I used to be a regular contributor but when they took down some of my stuff about over enthusiastic enforcement at a resort, I have not posted since. No recent reviews is a red flag for me and this is the most recent review of said hotel from 2023 titled “Is this a regular hotel? Best check.”

“I was looking for somewhere to have coffee and perhaps breakfast. I am writing this as I don’t think this is what I would consider a normal hotel and recommend that anybody interested in booking investigates further beforehand. My reasons:
a) The courtyard between the street entrance and the door marked hotel entrance is packed with bikes.
b) What should be a welcoming reception is now occupied with 2 rows of tables being used as desks by some people.
c) Behind this almost office-like area were several fridges and a row of microwaves adorned with laminated signs/instructions.”

US Muslims cannot be compared to our lot. To get into the US legally – via the Green Card procedure – applicants are carefully vetted to ensure they will be financially independent, have skills beneficial to the US economy, and of course have no terrorist links.

To get US citizenship requires, learning English, attending classes on US history, culture, Constitution and then a formal ceremony swearing allegiance.

Here we let in anybody as long as a) they hate us, b) uneducated, c) no skills, d) no money, e) lots of dependents.

I think this supposition is highly questionable. Germany has so many problems with its current government, which I maintain are primarily due to the price and expected unreliability of the energy supply, the industrial/economic situation (e.g. Volkswagen), the war mongering (particularly promoted by the Greens of all people) and, certainly, the high levels of immigration. The effect of Muslim votes upset by Germany’s support of Israel will, in my opinion, play a very minor role in comparison to these major problems.
