Latin Plant Names Could be Racist, Warns University of Michigan
Using Latin names for plants may be racist, the University of Michigan has warned, in guidance to prevent the influence of colonial “power structures” on visitors. The Telegraph has more.
A strategy document for the university’s botanical gardens and arboretum warns against using the traditional combination of an English name and Latin name on plaques next to its plants, amid concerns they could erase “other forms of knowing”.
The University of Michigan, which has been criticised for its expansive diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) policies, has spent more than $250 million on inclusivity initiatives since 2016.
As part of its plan to ensure “foundational change at every level”, the college has created a series of strategic plans for every aspect of its work, including the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum.
A “strategic plan” issued last year, first reported on Wednesday by the New York Times, warned that horticultural bosses were “deeply enmeshed within interlocking systems of domination” and used “linguistic and representational practices that are, generally, complicit in the continued erasure of non-dominant relationships to ‘nature’”.
The document states: “When botanical gardens and arboreta display Latin taxa, English ‘common name’, and perhaps a brief scientific description, what other ways of knowing are not only missing but actively erased?”
It references an academic article that warns that botany is “deeply intertwined with the histories of colonialism, racism and imperialism”.

This kind of sanctimonius, abstract theoretical discourse is also “deeply intertwined” with colonialism, racism, imperialism (and botanism) as the Marxism-Leninism which begat it is an European invention people from other cultures knew nothing of until they suddenly found themselves killed in its name. The very notion of isms already is and people suffering from structual (or unconscious) ismism could really make the world a better and more just place by ending their murderist preachingism of European nonsense theories of the 19th centurty to audiences which would do much better without it. Ie, everybody except those who preach.
A fair summary.
Yes, he is a fluent summarist.
But Marxism-Leninism-Communism was not a European invention.
It was a Jewish invention.
Technically, that’s mostly true. But by that time, Jews had been – despite keeping to themselves most of the time – living in Europe for close to 2000 years and the point I was trying to make is that this extremely jargon-heavy and abstract-system-based theorizing about things isn’t exactly something (stone age) societies of so-called “other knowing” natives are famous for.
Critical theory is principally an attempt to demolish anything of European society/ culture which predates the bouregois society using theoretical methods which are deeply rooted in the very things which are sought to be abolished. It’s the tail of the snake trying to eat its head, so to say and so-called global majoritists are just involved as pawns here, serving in lieu of the nowadays mortage-paying proletariat as “other repressed group we thankfully found.”
A “strategic plan” … warned that horticultural bosses were “deeply enmeshed within interlocking systems of domination” and used “linguistic and representational practices that are, generally, complicit in the continued erasure of non-dominant relationships to ‘nature’”.
This is just the madleft deploying their lunatic magical incantations. The motivation for this is that the marxo-fascists have realised that in order to impose their murderous tyranny – i.e. their own unlimited power – they have to first destroy our civilisation. As part of this they have to attack Western science by substituting ideology and magical words for it.
For example: botany is “deeply intertwined with the histories of colonialism, racism and imperialism”. This is merely an accusation of heresy designed to place the power grab of the accusers beyond debate.
According to the madleft colonialism is bad if white people do it.
According to the madleft white people’s love of their own people is “racism”.
According to the madleft imperialism is only bad is white people are imperialists.
Can’t we just say everything’s racist when you’re not right in the head, believe the world owes you a living and are determined to go your whole life playing the victim, and have done? It’s getting beyond tedious now, this. Meanwhile, shall we talk about racism against whites for a change? I don’t think Lucy Connolly was racist but had she not been white would she have gotten the same punishment? It makes you wonder what’s going to happen to Tommy Robinson later this month when he has to go to court; ”The wife of a Conservative councillor has been jailed for 31 months after pleading guilty to publishing written material to stir up racial hatred after the Southport stabbings. Former childminder Lucy Connolly published a post on her X account, which she later deleted, that called for “mass deportation now”, and for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire, adding: “If that makes me racist, so be it.” Sentencing Connolly, Judge Melbourne Inman KC said of the Southport stabbings: “Some people used that tragedy as an opportunity to sow division and hatred, often using social media, leading to a number of towns and cities being disfigured.” He added: “When… Read more »
Unfair as these sentences for patriots are, they’ve made some of the people I’ve spoken realise how serious the Establishment’s hatred of the English people is. As I say to them: we cannot vote our way out of The Great Replacement.
Unless they’re perverts. The Establishment doesn’t seem to mind the paedos. Let’s get some perspective here. What’s worse to have on your screen? Statements such as “Deport them all!”, “Burn the hotels!”, or images of little children being raped? And yet who’s getting banged up and who’s getting off with a slap on the wrist? Who’s the bigger danger to society?
But that’s the problem. There is no perspective or proportion, no punishment fitting the crime. Look at the guy praying, not even on the premises of the abortion clinic, but over the road! I know who out of the above examples I’d have no problem living next door to, put it that way.

Oops, just offended the resident paedophile again. Yes, being sexually attracted to kids does in fact make you a scummy paedo, sorry not sorry that this dose of reality offends your depraved nature and delusional viewpoint.
Now who could that be, I wonder…. 👀 🧐
The funny thing about this is that another person (a man) was sentenced earlier for posting the exact same text on X. The rendering of that in the Sky article is also seriously incorrect. The text did not call for hotels housing asylum seekers, ie, illegal immigrants, to be set on fire, it just stated the the author wouldn’t mind if there were set on fire, ie, wouldn’t mind them burning down. This means the incriminated text consistet of three parts (paraphrased from memory). Mass deportation [of illegal immigrants] now. I wouldn’t mind if hotels housing illegal immigrants were set on fire. If this makes me racist, so be it. The first is a call for applying existing laws, ie, for actually deporting people who have no right to stay in the UK. The second is a assertion about a hypothetical situation: The author wouldn’t exactly shed tears when it became known to him that a hotel full of illegal immigrant had been set on fire (and burnt down). This is followed by a statement about the author himself: He isn’t planning to back down from this stance even if this means he’d be accused of racism. Which leads to… Read more »
And on a similar theme, if patriots were hunted down and arrested in a matter of days, why’s this psycho with anger issues still not been arrested weeks after he assaulted a waitress? Interesting, don’t you think? His mug is clearly visible on camera footage and if he paid with a card then it’s a piece of cake finding him, but some people seemingly get to behave like anti-social d*cks with impunity.

It’s the two-tier policing the Anti-White Party (aka the Labour Party) is now claiming is a “far-right” conspiracy.
Obviously. Story from last Friday: After work, I was walking along car park/ cinema side of the Oracle Riverside towards a pub in order to have some pints there. About in the middle of that, a group of four quite obviously loaded guys walked past me. One of them made a step in my direction and loudly stomped his foot on the ground in an attempt to give a shock to me. The outcome was apparently not quite what he had expected because instead of frightfully backing away, I made a reflexive quick move towards him. All four then readied themselves to fall onto me but – having regained my non-aggressive composure – noting that my chances in such a quarrel were exactly zero (they’re were obviously all a good bit taller than me) and remembering that I had just passed a parked police car and thus, the very real possibility of me being arrested for “assault without a cause” if I did so much as lift a finger in anger existed, I saw them off with a scornful remark instead. They then walked away quickly and, after having covered a safe distance, one of them shouted “He has a… Read more »
What can I say?
Pater dimitte illis quia nesciunt quid faciunt…
You may very well say that, but I couldn’t possibly comment.
It is obviously deeply racist that English speakers continue to use English ‘common names’, and then Latin – constantly reminding us of the racist Roman Empire. I would suggest that we use Swahili instead – sorry, I mean Kiswahili (or do I?). What was that? Swahili was initially spread by Arab slave traders down the East coast of Africa? OK then, we had better use Bantu…but what about the Khoisan peoples eradicated or displaced by the Bantu southward expansion 4000 years ago?
Personally I will no longer use the name ‘dandelion’, so redolent of the Norman conquest of these lands. ‘Aegwyrt’ for me, from now on.
That marvellous illustration, with every detail, every tiny root, branch, leaf and flower recorded and painted in meticulous detail, encapsulates it all.
Only the White Man had the curiosity to explore the entire world to learn about God’s creation, carefully searching out, examining, drawing, painting and classifying as much of the world’s wildlife as he could, often risking life and limb in extremely harsh environments to do so. The sheer intensity of all those years of labour by enthusiastic explorers, scientists, naturalists, artists, writers and yes, even publishers, is rarely appreciated.
None of the Third World ethnic groups ever did that, nor do so today. Some have imitated and copied the White Man’s lead, but criticised him instead of admiring all his work.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha JEEZUS. ——–I hear Maths is also racist because maybe black people are not so good at it tr interested in it, and that even being on time is racist because blacks time keeping is not so good. —Everything in the world has to brought down to the lowest common denominator in the Liberal Progressive Utopia.
Just imagine what a sensible university could do with $250 million.
They could have put the money into tutoring programs for students from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and this would certainly have helped more black people more effectively than publicity stunts like this one ever could.
