News Round-Up
- “Starmer admits taking another £16,000 for clothes from Lord Alli” – Sir Keir Starmer has admitted that Lord Alli gave him £32,000 to pay for clothing, double what he previously declared, reports the Telegraph.
- “Whatever happened to the ‘Office of Deputy PM’?” – The Spectator‘s Steerpike notes that Angela Rayner has failed to re-establish the powerful Office of the Deputy Prime Minister – the X feed of which still says: “This is not being updated as the current administration does not have a Deputy Prime Minister.”
- “Reeves urged to cut ‘extremely valuable’ public sector pensions” – Rachel Reeves should cut public sector workers’ “extremely valuable” pensions, the Institute for Fiscal Studies has said, amid continued pressure from unions over pay rises, reports the Telegraph.
- “Defiant Netanyahu issues stark warning to Iran in UN speech” – Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark warning to Iran in his UN speech, saying that Israel can strike anywhere inside the country if it is provoked, the Mail reports.
- “Why didn’t the BBC air this October 7th documentary earlier?” – In the Spectator, Jonathan Sacerdoti praises the BBC’s Surviving October 7th: We Will Dance Again documentary for showing the true horror of the Hamas massacre, but wonders why the corporation has been coy about showing any of the footage until now.
- “Why Lebanon can’t be saved” – A full-scale evacuation might be the only option, suggests Tom McTague in UnHerd.
- “The war is going badly. Ukraine and its allies must change course” – Time for credible war aims and NATO membership, says the Economist. (Wasn’t NATO membership a reason Putin said he invaded?)
- “U.S. ‘Unimpressed’ With Ukraine’s Victory Plan Ahead of Biden-Zelensky Meeting” – Kiev’s uninspiring proposal focuses on weapons and loosening restrictions on long-range missiles, Western officials say, according to the Wall Street Journal.
- “Does Chris Whitty regret scaring the public witless over Covid?” – The Chief Medical Officer may have indicated the Covid response might have been over the top, but he still fundamentally thinks lockdown was right and is now pushing for a growing list of authoritarian public-health interventions, says Fraser Myers in Spiked.
- “Boris’s dramatic plan for military raid on Holland to grab our jabs” – The Mail reports on Boris Johnson’s extraordinary claim that after two months negotiating with the EU for the release of five million doses of the AstraZeneca jab being held in a Leiden warehouse, the former PM summoned the Armed Forces to demand action as part of a plan for British forces to “invade”’ and seize the vaccine supplies.
- “How Covid nearly killed me” – The Mail carries an excerpt from Boris’s new memoir, in which he describes in detail his hospitalisation with Covid. In short: he received oxygen but nothing more invasive and there was one night in ICU where he was told he was experiencing a ‘cytokine storm’ that could go either way, but he recovered after that point (and was swimming a few days later).
- “If this was a party, it was the feeblest event” – “I saw no cake, I ate no cake”: Boris describes the fateful No. 10 birthday ‘party’ in another memoir excerpt in the Mail.
- “Lockdown hurt our children – its critics have been proven right” – The young were robbed of social interaction at crucial points in their development, causing irreversible harms, says Miriam Cates in the Telegraph.
- “How fluoride fears went mainstream” – A federal judge this week ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to further regulate fluoride levels in drinking water to minimise the risk posed to children’s health, marking a turning point in the fight over public water fluoridation, the potential harms of which have long been dismissed, says Laurel Duggan in UnHerd.
- “Quorn truly deserves to go bust” – Quorn is a hideous meat substitute that would work better as sandpaper, says Julie Bindel in the Spectator. “Depending on its form, it can be wet and slimy, or hard and grainy.” So, not a fan then.
- “French women are afraid. But the country’s politicians don’t seem to care” – In a country that has become accustomed to atrocities in the last decade, the brutal murder of a 19-year-old student has outraged France, says Gavin Mortimer in the Spectator.
- “Christian medical centre could be forced to prescribe sex-change drugs” – A Christian medical group has claimed it will be forced to provide sex-change drugs to patients under a Michigan law, the Telegraph reports.
- “Did Coke discriminate against Christians?” – Coke’s personalised can promo forbids “Jesus” but allows “Allah”, “Buddha” and “Satan”, prompting allegations of anti-Christian discrimination. But C.J. Strachan reckons it’s probably just a cock-up by a junior employee with very limited religious horizons.

- “No, Baroness Warsi, it is not acceptable to call people ‘coconuts’” – The cant and hypocrisy of the identitarian elites really is out of control now, says Spiked‘s Brendan O’Neill as he blasts Baroness Warsi for endorsing a racial slur against two of her parliamentary colleagues.
- “Why did it take Baroness Warsi so long to quit the Tory party?” – In the Spectator, Ross Clark wonders if the not-so-Conservative Peer was holding out for what she hoped would be the most damaging moment to quit the party – not unlike when she renounced the Brexit Leave campaign a few days before the vote.

The war is going badly. Ukraine and its allies must change course” ‘If Ukraine and its Western backers are to win, they must first have the courage to admit that they are losing. In the past two years Russia and Ukraine have fought a costly war of attrition. That is unsustainable.’ The ‘Western backers’ are not a coherent bloc. They all want different things. The two key components for peace are China and the U.S., in that order. A Trump Presidency might change that. For the time being, China (and India) profits from much needed cheap energy as its economy hits the buffers. It is happy with things as they are. Russia still occupies parts of historical China. China knows that any Russian agreement to peace will only ever be expedient, evidenced by Russia’s two invasions of Ukraine 2014, 2022. The U.S. (and Germany, Poland) is content with its very successful strategy of weakening Russia so that it can no longer invade its neighbours. And Russia will not stop until it has established a European superstate of 220 million people on the borders of the EU. The idea of Ukrainian membership of NATO, in that context, is complete lunacy. It is… Read more »
At the speed Russia is moving the “Russian superstate” is not going to trouble you or me or the next generation or two.
For the time being, China (and India) profits from much needed cheap energy …
Because they are not infected by our net zero insanity.
The U.S. (and Germany, Poland) is content with its very successful strategy of weakening Russia so that it can no longer invade its neighbours.
Those countries have financially and militarily severely weakened themselves, and substantially contributed to the destruction of Ukraine and the death of hundreds of thousands. Hardly something to be proud of. How many lives would have been saved and how much destruction would have been avoided if Boris Johnson had not vetoed the 2022 peace negotiations in Istanbul?
As to repeated warnings of Russia marching all over Europe, I recommend following how Russian diplomats are constantly meeting with leaders of so many different countries around the world, and how proud everyone is to be seen promoting mutually beneficial working relationships (https://mid.ru/en/). I hope the British Foreign Office equally strives to build up good relationships around the world but somehow …
I think it was Napoleon who said “Never interrupt your enemy when he’s making a mistake.”
The west has shown the world its Achilles heel and they’re laughing at us while enjoying an economic boost fueled by cheap, dirty power. 🤡
Boris’s dramatic plan for military raid on Holland to grab our jabs
‘….the former PM summoned the Armed Forces to demand action as part of a plan for British forces to “invade”’ and seize the vaccine supplies.’
Johnson’s mouth writing cheques that his backbone would never cash…..
Blair’s backbone cashed cheques that his defence ministry should never have written in the first place, pretty much destroying the British Army of Alanbrooke and Montgomery in the process….and we still inhabit ‘Blair’s Britain’
The current British Armed Forces would struggle to invade the Isle of Man….
This country is well overdue a decent Prime Minister. Where are they?
‘Aucune!’
Does Chris Whitty regret scaring the public witless over Covid?
‘The Chief Medical Officer may have indicated the Covid response might have been over the top’
That, on its own, should be sufficient for his resignation or sacking……
Quorn truly deserves to go bust
‘Depending on its form, it can be wet and slimy….’
Bit harsh on The Quorn…..
I’m sure I’ve seen that Star Trek episode.
”How Covid nearly killed me”
Nobody goes to ICU just for oxygen therapy. We all know on here that Boris Johnson is an absolute liar and was never at death’s door, we’re being treat like we’re stupid. But why aren’t all the doctors and nurses speaking up about this? Well, looking at their track record of how they performed ( with many of those well-rehearsed ‘performances’ going viral online ) during the scamdemic, I’ll hazard a guess that they’re all complicit in the charade. They probably had to sign non-disclosure agreements because it’s strange there wasn’t a single whistleblower regarding Johnson’s hospital admission. How dare they treat the British public like they have sh*t for brains?!
Well said👍
Deaths door is at the end of the corridor on the 666th floor! Boris never got passed the 2nd floor! All added bullpoop to scare the public into compliance
He was overweight and unfit (probably still is). Basically target audience for ‘flu or other influenza like illnesses. So what? If he lives his life that way he’s likely to die earlier than average. His life, his choices.
Can we just take a moment to take stock of the record of the establishment – the government, the bureaucracy, the corporate media and the oligarchy behind it all – on the major issues of the last years:
Covid lockdowns: A social and economic disaster
Covid jabs: A medical and human rights disaster
Immigration control: A social disaster
Net Zero: An economic disaster
Trans policy: A public health and social disaster
Ukraine: A military and humanitarian disaster
Quantitative easing: An economic and financial disaster
I can’t help thinking that the only thing stopping a full scale revolution against established power is the relentless brainwashing on corporate media that keeps the public mesmerised. Or maybe it’s a visceral fear of anarchy.
The record isn’t good though. These people don’t just fail to get things right. They get everything catastrophically wrong and leave behind them a pile of wreckage. Every effing time.
And then they get to blame everything on the little guy who through their mistakes is put in a position where he has nothing left to lose, and cracks. Refer Gavrilo Princip.
Perfectly put
And Nato is now absolutely irrelevant since the end of the cold War and should be disbanded not encouraged
But, clearly, not irrelevant to Sweden or Finland….
Ah, but just think how much worse a mess we’d be in if the experts weren’t in charge!
I imagine that Pepsi, Lilt, 7up will also be forbidden words. But did they include Dayla, Irn Bru, Budweiser, Duff?
The real ‘problem’ here is that the people at Coke lost faith in their own brand. Everyone knows the Coke logo when they see it – even people who hate the stuff, and especially those who hate big brash American corporations as they see it. So what did Coke do? Trash their own branding. Genius – not. The only thing that belongs on the side of a can of Coke is the Coca Cola name in the Coke style.
Sh!t probably wouldn’t get through either, but I wonder if shyte would? ‘Coke is Shyte’ for example!
Just tried it, accepted!
Happy birthday: Coke is shyte
It got through: $7.95

Drat! póg mo thóin didn’t get through 😢
“The war is going badly. Ukraine and its allies must change course”
If Ukraine is allowed to join Nato, nukes will fly!
Why the F are we still talking about Borris Johnson?
He’s trying to sell a book.
Oh right, just what useless washed up old has-beens do when they’re finished!
Completely O/T but I don’t know where else to post this.
I have just been watching a BBC Radio online report about the IDF taking out the leader of Hezbollah. The tone of the presenters was that this was a disaster. The female presenter (no idea of name) was not speaking and looked close to tears.
This was a man who led a murderous terrorist goup intent on the destruction of Israel and on attacking the west.
I don’t think I need say what I think of the situation,.
