Russia presents unprecedented threat to world order, spy chiefs warn ‘Vladimir Putin‘s ‘sabre rattling’ very nearly saw the use of tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine in late 2022, urging that there was still a ‘genuine risk’ to the Russian threat’ ‘Russia’s intelligence services have conducted sabotage and criminal acts in Britain and in Europe, becoming ‘a lot more feral……The fact they are using a criminal element shows they are becoming a bit desperate – they can’t use their own people. They’re happy to use criminals. It’s just a bit more reckless.’ ‘In April, an alleged arson attack was carried in Leyton, East London, on a Ukrainian-linked business, which was suspected of being directed by Moscow. Seven men have been charged in relation to the incident, with two under the new National Security Act.’ Britain’s batshit right: ‘I said I disliked (Putin) as a person, but I admired him as a political operator because he’s managed to take control of running Russia’ The batshit left, in the shape of Germany’s Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance, also support Putin. ‘The BSW want to copy from Putin….. ideas of how to keep society in check and under control — which is a tradition in Russia —… Read more »

Why do you consider “spy chiefs” to be trustworthy sources on this matter?

Good point!

I was more coming from the angle that, like “public health experts” and “pandemics”, they have a vested interest in talking up threats. Obviously there are threats, but whatever they say publicly should be taken with a pinch of salt. Threats that require no talking up are mass immigration, net zero and wokeness (including the elevation of ignorance and stupidity) – we know those things will destroy our country.

Threats that have recently been acted on should be taken extremely seriously…..

Because Putin has invaded three separate countries, one of them twice, killed a British citizen on British soil, using a banned chemical agent in breach of the Chemical Weapons Convention, has recently conducted an arson attack in London….

I certainly wouldn’t like to be a country bordering Russia that was once part of their empire, that’s for sure. I don’t think they are coming for us though. They might get a bit more powerful globally, but I don’t think they will catch the Chinese. We’re destroying ourselves with little help from anyone else. Demographics is everything.

EppingBlogger

Policy cannot be focussed on a single agenda. One fault of the elites is their limited policy range.

for them everything is about woke andnet zero. You seem to think demographics is everything. It’s big, I agree but not everything.

Once people are here, they are here. They are not going anywhere. It’s irreversible. Everything else pretty much can be fixed.

Demographics are certainly everything to Putin.

And, if you believe the forecasts and the estimates are based on actual work, the real work of people who understand this, who have devoted their whole lives to this, in 15 years, there may be 22 million fewer Russians. I ask you to think about this figure: a seventh of the country’s population. If the current trend continues, the nation’s survival will be in jeopardy.’ Putin 2000

In 2006, Putin declared the need to address population decline as “the highest national priority”

That is why he has invaded Ukraine, in pursuit of a European superstate based on Russia comprising 250 million souls.

That is a threat to this country’s freedom of action in foreign policy and much else.

Many countries represent a threat to world order.

That cannot justify Russian aggression and the slaughter of hundreds of thousands.

To maintain otherwise is quite simply batty.

It has been used to justify US agression and interference around the world for over half a century. This was actual aggression as opposed to using proxies..

There is much confusion here.

Point one: Russia represents a threat to world order

Point two: The United States has intervened in various countries at various times.

These are two entirely separate points.

Occasionally, U.S. intervention has had U.N. support:

‘Resolution 678

Passed on November 29, 1990, this resolution gave Iraq until January 15, 1991 to withdraw from Kuwait. It also authorized UN member states to use “all necessary means” to force Iraq out of Kuwait after the deadline.’

America has presented an unprecedented threat to world order, with its lapdogs in NATO yapping at its heels.

https://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/costs/human/civilians

The U.S. post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Pakistan have taken a tremendous human toll on those countries. As of September 2021, an estimated 432,093 civilians in these countries have died violent deaths as a result of the wars. As of May 2023, an estimated 3.6-3.8 million people have died indirectly in post-9/11 war zones. The total death toll in these war zones could be at least 4.5-4.7 million and counting, though the precise mortality figure remains unknown. Civilian deaths have also resulted from U.S. post-9/11 military operations in Somalia and other countries.

“Russia represents a threat to world order”… Allegedly
Russia made it quite clear, re Nato on its borders, Russia was wholly provoked in to the Ukraine war.. (historically owned lands anyway)

America IS a threat to world order… Fact.

Monro

Point 1: The referenced article, using its own references, shows that Putin was very close to using nuclear weapons in 2022, a clear threat to the world.

You offer nothing to contradict that point. So the point stands.

Point 2: America is presently pretty much leaderless, has pulled out of Afghanistan. It is not threatening to use nuclear weapons. It quite clearly represents no threat to world order whatsoever. You offer nothing to support your assertion which, consequently, can be dismissed.

It couldn’t be more apparent that the police give these migrants protected status, plus this lunatic isn’t white so he automatically gets his ‘race card’ to fall back on. This woman was harassed and spat on when she was unlocking her bike, the nutter was also assaulting other people, but when the police turn up they warn the victim for saying ”filthy migrant”! ”I go to M&S CHELSEA & I’m attacked again on Kings Rd by another filthy migrant. The police don’t turn up in time & when they do they are more interested in policing my speech…” https://x.com/LadyLoveLDN/status/1833217018822119888 ”This is who attacked me. Russia presents unprecedented threat to world order, spy chiefs warn

So Russia, having invaded Chechnya 1999, Georgia 2008, Ukraine 2014, Ukraine 2022, having killed a British citizen on British soil with Novichok 2018 and now seven people charged with aggravated arson and offences under the National Security Act, including preparatory conduct and assisting a foreign intelligence service in August 2024, does not represent any kind of threat?

Do you agree with the following (batshit right) comment:

‘I said I disliked (Putin) as a person but I admired him as a political operator because he has managed to take control of running Russia.’

Putin has been governing Russia and managed to stay in power for over 20 years and is quite popular in his own country.

Just that suggests to me he is more than capable of understanding and working with nuance.

You on the other hand, I have yet to see any hint of nuance in any of your daily Russia commentaries.

Toyota slashes EV output by 30% for 2026

This kind of headline is very misleading. It aims to give the impression that Toyota’s production of EVs is falling. It’s not. It’s increasing. By a lot in fact. What has been “reduced’ is the estimated year on year increase in production from a much much higher number to just a much higher number.

To be clear I’m not a champion of EV mandates. I hate them. They fill me with dread of what the state is capable of imposing on us.

But I don’t like to be bullshitted either.

Another (expensive but will be a whitewash) government enquiry in the offing about dazzling car headlamps.

I can give them them the answer by close of play this afternoon, or by the end of the week if they want a spell checked proper report. The lighting industry won’t like the real answer though, so what’s the betting some industry funded team gets set up at vast expense?

Anyone want the information? MPs? I can probably save you a few million?
