Pending Electoral Disaster Prompts German Government to Actually Try to Stop Illegal Immigration

The elections in Saxony and Thüringen were a slap in the face for the parties that govern Germany. The market-liberal Free Democrats (FDP) have been reduced to an irrelevant micro-party in both states. The Greens were banished entirely from the state parliament in Thüringen, and barely clawed their way over the 5% hurdle in Saxony. The Social Democratic Party (SPD), meanwhile, posted its worst results in each state since reunification – outdoing even its dismal 2019 showing, which in Thüringen especially even I did not think was possible.

But its disgrace is not over. Brandenburg will hold its own state elections on September 22nd, and Brandenburg is core SPD territory. The party has led every election there since 1990; in 1999 it even won an outright majority. Those days, alas, are long gone. Right now the SPD is polling at a mere 21.7% there. That may sound like a lot compared to its 7.3% showing in Saxony and its 6.1% showing in Thüringen, but historically it is a disaster, especially because it places it nearly seven percentage points behind Alternative für Deutschland.

Support for open borders policies is strangling the SPD in the east, and that much is clear even to our intensely dumb marshmallow Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD). We also know that within-EU border controls are possible. Since 2015, German police have run continuous controls on the Austrian border, and as of October 2023 they have implemented similar controls on the country’s borders with Czechia, Poland and Switzerland. This summer, these controls were briefly expanded to all German borders to limit the ingress of undesirables during the UEFA European Football Championship. Faeser, however, refused to extend these controls after the games ended, despite statistics showing their effectiveness. State media broadcasters even summoned somebody from the Federal Police Union to tell us that such checks “are not sustainable at this level of intensity”.

Pending electoral humiliation now seems to have altered the parameters of the sustainable. Universal border controls are back on the menu:

The coalition Government is tightening its asylum policy. Specifically, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) has ordered that people seeking protection who enter the country illegally be turned back at all German borders. Faeser said that these controls… should enable a “massive expansion of the refoulement” of refugees…

“We are strengthening internal security and continuing our tough course against irregular migration,” Faeser said… according to an announcement published by the Ministry of the Interior this afternoon. Until there is a new common European asylum system and stronger protection of the EU’s external borders, the stricter controls at national borders are necessary.

The new measure will enable the Federal Police to “deploy the full range of stationary and mobile border police measures at all German land borders,” Faeser said. The Federal Police will be strengthened with additional posts and resources.

Faeser emphasised that the previous controls with Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Austria had already enabled more than 30,000 rejections since October last year.

This is a campaign manoeuvre, and there is every reason to be cynical about it. Even the centre-Right CDU is cynical, above all because border controls in themselves are not enough. The Government must devise a means of comprehensively rejecting migrants, however much pleading they do about asylum, and Faeser has been studiously vague about her plans in this area. Nevertheless, her scrambling illustrates what an enormous albatross mass migrationist policies have become for the establishment parties. We are very far from anything like a solution to this crisis, but we have also come a long way from the religious open-borders insanity of 2015.

Nah, maybe.
Or maybe the actual situation is better described as “pending electoral disaster prompts German government to make promises about trying to stop illegal immigration”.
We have seen it all before. Tough talk, very little action. Strong pushback from human rights lawyers. Legal hurdles left right and center. Immigrant-friendly, biased media, sob stories, demonization of anybody not in favor of more “diversity”. Character assassination of anti-immigration politics. In the meantime everything carries on as usual.

Bless good old Hungary. Long may they succeed in fighting for their national sovereignty and standing up to the ever-bullying Brussels. They remind me of the ‘control group’ that was Sweden during the damned Scamdemic. The outliers that didn’t bow to the pressure put on them from the international community and came out the best despite what idiot doom-mongers like Prof Ferguson predicted. ”The war of words on migration is escalating between the EU and the conservative Hungarian government, as Budapest made it clear once again that it will send illegal migrants to Brussels if the EU keeps forcing Hungary to let them in. If Brussels “wants us to let them in, we will let them in—put them on the bus, and drop them off in front of [European Commission President] Ursula von der Leyen’s office,” Tamás Menczer, the spokesman for the conservative Hungarian ruling party Fidesz said in a video posted on his Facebook account on Monday, September 9th. On Friday, Bence Rétvári, the Interior Ministry’s State Secretary, held a press conference in front of a row of passenger buses with illuminated signs reading “Röszke-Brussels,” signalling a one-way route that would take migrants from the southern border of Hungary to the… Read more »

Yes I have watched the Hungarian guys on Youtube, and even my wife, who is not so politically interested as me, shouted at the TV screen in joy at what the Hungarians are doing. ——But will these politicians always be there? Will they eventually be replaced by UN lackeys?

Only time would tell if their words translate into deeds, but their words go against the Agenda:
“Nevertheless, it is clear that no measures will effectively stop the immigration trends. This could induce a sharp rise in defensive racism in the receiving countries and encourage the emergence of a series of right-wing dictators swept in by popular vote. Such situations must not be allowed to develop. It is therefore equally important, besides increasing aid to development in the poor countries, to prepare the populations of the rich countries to accept this reality.” – The First Global Revolution, The Council of the Club of Rome, 1991

That tome was of course written on the back of many pre-dated declared ‘ambitions’ by those who think they know best.

“We also know that within-EU border controls are possible.” Of course we do. Because during covid, despite 20 years of Shengen there was sufficient capability and capacity to close internal EU borders. These people are no more wedded to free movement than they are to freedom of speech.

The only question to ask the Political Class is —–WHY? —Why did you do this? Why have you filled our countries up with this multicultural clutter at break neck speed and forced us all to accept it? —–Why do you keep imposing these leftist ideologies on us and then wondering why we eventually cannot take it anymore and you force us to retaliate?

Because social cohesion – which is very strong in the nation state – is an obstacle for them in achieving their ultimate aim: total control and slavery.
That is why they are doing it.

Yes I know——-But I want to keep asking them ill they are forced to admit it. We are all to be enslaved and locked up in 15 minute cities, with ULEZ type polices keeping us from going anywhere. We will all have to ride on the bus the train or our bikes. Won’t be able to heat our house, or go on holiday or enjoy a Steak Diane. —The silly people gluing themselves to the road clamouring for even more enslavement thinking they’re saving the planet simply don’t know what is coming to them.

OK, here’s a conclusion I have drawn over the years. I’m no religious fanatic but the fundamental, underlying reasons of what is going on – the driving forces behind wokism, leftism, the suicidal policies of modern governments, the drive to enslave people – cannot be understood without understanding that they are of a spiritual nature and wokism is a religious movement. We on this forum are fundamentally heretics in that sense.
People don’t realize this because we have been conditioned to look for a rational, logical explanation, thus any theory assuming spiritual forces tends to be rejected straight away (something that actually works in favor of these forces).
Our task is to fight these forces; by questioning everything, by challenging the prevailing thought, by being sceptical and indeed, by trying to remain sane. Ultimately they can’t win; just like ultimately communism collapsed, all this will collapse too because it is not rooted in truth and, as a result, it is self-destructive. Unfortunately, however, destruction is their aim.

The enforcement is of a religious nature and so is the language (Heretic Apocalypse, Armageddon Sinner etc) when it comes to the environment (climate change), but I feel the other stuff has more to do with the UN/WEF World Government aspirations. What better way to govern the whole world than destroying National Identities so that we all just feel like citizens of the world rather than German French or British etc. Mass Immigration is the perfect too for this.

Even IF the German Government belatedly imposes some restriction on the criminal migrants, the damage has been done and will not be reversed.

Just as it won’t be in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Ireland or the UK.

Maybe the East of Germany will leave the Federal States and decide to self govern and this will be the new way forward with established areas breaking up into smaller states with different racial groups and attitudes to industry and energy supply.

Please apply your US maybe-solutions to the USA. You’re not going to split Germany again except via a military invasion (still on the books of the UN as legitimate way to ‘correct’ German domestic politics). Both the people in Western and Middle (not Eastern, that’s still a militarily occupied wasteland) Germany are Germans and we all know that. Sanity is going to drift westward.
