Scottish Doctors to Give Sex-Change Hormones to Trans Patients Who Self-ID
GPs will be able to prescribe cross-sex hormones to patients who diagnose themselves as transgender in Scotland under new NHS rules. The Telegraph has the story.
Under guidelines published on Tuesday, it is stated that testosterone or oestrogen prescriptions are to be given out to adults “primarily based on someone’s self-report” despite an admission that there is “no guarantee” they will help patients.
Previously, access to a specialist gender clinic was usually required to access hormone treatments on the Scottish NHS.
However, the new rules open the door to GPs being able to prescribe the drugs after taking account of guidance or taking specialist advice.
NHS Education for Scotland, which issued the guidance, confirmed that going forward the ability to approve hormones would be based on “knowledge and skills” rather than job title, with primary care practitioners listed as among those “able to prescribe”.
The drugs can help transgender people feel more comfortable with their bodies by altering physical characteristics, for example by causing biological males to develop breasts or biological females to grow facial hair.
However, there is uncertainty about their risks, with long-term use potentially causing infertility and other side effects including multiple blood conditions, weight gain and gallstones.
A consultant psychiatrist with more than two decades of experience in gender dysphoria described the guidelines as “absolutely ridiculous” and said that prescribing life-altering hormone treatments based mainly on a “self-report”, rather than an in-depth specialist assessment, was dangerous.

It’s great that we “saved the NHS” during “covid” so that they can give people harmful drugs using our money.
I notice a touch of irony there
If a man – an actual man – walked into the GP surgery and told the GP that they identify as a female, but want to transition to a male and so wanted testosterone, would that GP prescribe that actual male testosterone because they are an ‘identified’ female who wants to transition? Could a bloke who wanted the extra testosterone to help with his weight training get free testosterone on the back of such a claim?
‘Testosterone’ too easily becomes ‘Toblerone’, I have just discovered!
How about a man going to his GP saying he thinks his pregnant and asking for a gynaecological examination?
I think the ways one could take the piss out of this madness are almost boundless.
A gynaecological examination on a man would certainly test his resolve!

Will this eventually be extended to prescription lipsticks? After all, the usual name for pseudomedical treatments supposed to alter people’s physcial appearance to make them feel more comfortable with themselves is cosmetics and if certain cosmetic pseudo-treatments have to be paid for by general taxation, why not all of them? Or why not – this would make a lot more sense – let people indulge in whatever hobbies they happen to have but pay for it themselves?
I have no problem (save one of differing opinion about beauty) with women who want to grow beards or men who desire to have more poignant breasts than they can usually grow naturally, however, I do have a problem with being ordered to pay for that. And what’s socially so important about bearded women that this is not a waste of supposedly already scarce NHS resources?
The main thing is that this pertains to adults and not kids, which is my main priority for concern around this particular ideology, however I’d still be worried about certain vulnerable adults being targeted if they’re more susceptible to being infected by the woke mind virus and indoctrinated into the cult.

I’ve read that 40% children who suffer from gender dysphoria continue to wish they could change their gender, but 60% find that it is a passing phase and grow out of it – and are happy to be adults of their genetic sex. I don’t know what the numbers are for adults, but there are certainly some who would like to detransition.
Which means that if you hand out hormone treatments like sweets then there is a risk, particularly with children, that you are doing more harm than good.

That would be at least 60% of the (usually vulnerable) pubescent children stonewalled into believing there’s something fundamentally wrong about their developing bodies by adult ‘queerness influencers’ stop listening to these after they had sex for the first time.
Children don’t “suffer from gender dysphoria”, they have to suffer adults trying to bullshit them about puberty and sex in the hope that they can be talked into doing something definite before nature runs its course and their own hormones win the race.
