Jess Phillips Says She Received Quicker NHS Treatment Because She Voted for Gaza Ceasefire

Labour Minister Jess Phillips has said she received “quicker” NHS treatment because she voted in favour of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza after a Palestinian doctor recognised her. The Telegraph has more.

Ms. Phillips, the Minister for Safeguarding and Violence against Women and Girls, has reportedly suggested her stance on the conflict had helped speed up her care when a Palestinian doctor treated her during a visit to an A&E department at a Birmingham hospital.

The MP for Birmingham Yardley quit her shadow ministerial role in November last year when Labour was in opposition to vote in favour of an immediate ceasefire. …

According to the Daily Mail, Ms. Phillips recounted how her vote had seemingly played a role in her health treatment during an event billed as An Evening with Jess Phillips, held at Kiln Theatre in north London.

Ms. Phillips reportedly said she had gone to A&E because she was having trouble breathing and that the department was very busy and chaotic.

“I have genuinely seen better facilities, health facilities, in war zones, in developing countries around the world,” she said.

Describing the situation when she got to the front of the queue, she said: “I got through because of who I am. Also, the doctor who saw me was Palestinian, as it turns out. Almost all the doctors in Birmingham seemed to be.”

She said: “He was sort of like, ‘I like you. You voted for a ceasefire’. [Because of that] I got through quicker.”

Top trolling because surely it can’t be true.

Not in our wonderful NHS.

First came 2 tier policing, then 2 tier honours, now 2 tier healthcare. Has anyone opened a book on what will be next?

2 tier education, then 2 tier social services. Anybody who doesn’t comply with the National Curriculum on History of Colonialism and Gender Studies will not graduate. Anybody who is trying to maintain a excessively white, self-financing nuclear family with two parents of British heritage who are married to each other and competently raising their own children will be last in the queue for assistance should misfortune strike.

What an appalling admission by one of the country’s greatest race-baiters.

A statement intended to enrage. How much lower will they go?

I just think it’s quite the juxtaposition to be both Minister for ‘Safeguarding and Violence against Women and Girls’ whilst you simultaneously brown-nose the Muslim community. Make it make sense. Or is this the part where you say one thing and do another ( or just do nothing ) while you continue to ignore the elephant in the room? This woman has form for saying dumbass things, zero integrity and is totally devoid of professionalism. A reminder;

”Ms Phillips’s comments, which saw cross-party calls for her to either resign or be sacked, came as Muslim men caused havoc in her home town, some brandishing weapons, slashing tyres and intimidating journalists.

Amid the chaos, Ms Phillips said the masked criminals “came to this location because it has been spread that racists were coming to attack them”.
She appeared to blame Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice for the scenes, adding: “This information was spread entirely to create this content. Don’t spread it, Mr Tice!”

Also what appalling grammar. Split the job title at ‘and’ to get:

  • Minister for Safeguarding
  • Minister for Violence against Women and Girls

So she’s responsible for safeguarding, and she’s also responsible for violence against…?

Unless she goes to bat against the intrusion of trans into women’s lives, the department name is pretty meaningless given the woke stance of the LP, unless they also mean protecting non-women who claim womanhood.

Apparently nobody cares about violence against men.

Yes, quite right. The misogyny, intimidation and risk of assault is coming from the very two groups that hold permanent victimhood status within society and appear to be constantly pandered to by authorities: Muslims and Trans nutters, because both of those camps either include predatory men anyway ( such as with Islam ) or we have these predatory perverts exploiting the loophole within the law that enables them to access female’s single-sex spaces and/or sports, among other things. We can also see that both of these segments of society seem to harbour paedophiles, so they’re deliberately targeting our kids. The constant increase in immigrants only serves to increase the odds of further crime, and we’ve seen how these psychos who carry out knife attacks are indiscriminate and going for all citizens; men, women and kids. As you say, it’s pure hypocrisy and her title is totally meaningless unless she’s going to focus on these two very real threats that we’re being forced to co-exist with. EDIT: A quick visual of the increase in sex crimes reported. Check out the years. I don’t think this is all down to increased reporting and victims having more faith in the police/courts; ”In 2023/24… Read more »

Minister for Safeguarding
Minister for Violence against Women and Girls

Make perfect sense. Her job is to ensure that men can safely punch women and girls in the head provided they claim they’re, in truly Olympic spirit, women themselves.

So then, presumably, if you are Jewish, the same doctors will ensure you are at the back of the queue and receive inferior care…?

If it’s true it’s an appalling admission.

If it’s not true then it’s an even more stupid thing to say.

If she says it’s a lie published by the Mail I hope she sues – and that someone has a recording of her saying it.

I saw that on GBN earlier, but it appears to be her point of view. It might be different, after all. Anyone who’s been into an A&E where they don’t know you (i.e. not on their records as an existing patient) will know that busy ones normally use some kind of triage assessment, but assuming that they do recognise her, say as their MP, that could have been a factor in that choice.

It’s called Accident and Emergency for a reason, it’s not a drop-in centre for people who should have consulted their GP.

A&E departments are ‘very busy and chaotic’ because 80% of the people attending shouldn’t be there – like that galoot with her ‘breathing difficulties’.

What should done ‘ to help plug that black hole’ is introduce a charge, say £35, for anyone attending. I guarantee after that, they will be mostly empty, except for those who really do require urgent medical attention.

“… for people who should have consulted their GP.”

I see the flaw in your argument.

Trouble breathing will always be ahead of say a sprained ankle, and behind chest pains. That’s the whole purpose of triage. Of course it relies on everyone ‘playing the game right’…

If my memory serves me correctly, Ron is referring to a ‘joke’ made by Carl Benjamin after Phillips laughed at another minister (Davies?) for daring to raise the fact that men also have issues which need to be recognised. I have to say it’s not a ‘joke’ that I could ever find funny.

That is correct. She laughed when there was a discussion on male suicide. Assuming it was not out of context because it was a while ago. Lets enjoy some dark humour before we all end up in a Gulag.

Not a very professional way of doing things with either party. You can’t do that. And to brag about it is to essentially undermine the basis of your position which is supposed to be complete integrity. It doesn’t work like that.

Just imagine if in 1930 we got similar quick treatment because there was a Nazi doctor working here and he recognized you for praising the ‘peace for our time’?
Since Oct 7th there has been a 29,000% increase in Arabic tweets saying #Hitler was right. This is since Oct 7th and not since Israel went into Gaza as a consequence of the barbarities of Oct 7th.

Why do we have so many doctors from elsewhere here. Are we not able to train our own and are the countries where these doctors coming from in need of doctors?

NeilParkin

Reply to  sskinner

The BMA contract of 2006 for Doctors Services, caps the number of doctors being trained to protect the interests of the exiting members. So instead of training our own, we drag people in from all over Africa and Asia who have no idea of ‘typical British Ailments’, and expect them to deliver quality services to us. Of course no one asks what the Nigerians and Philippines manage to do without their doctors…
