Green MP Opposes 100-Mile Corridor of Wind Farm Pylons in His Suffolk Constituency

The co-leader of the Green Party is objecting to the Labour Government’s plans to build a 100-mile stretch of pylons through his constituency as part of their Net Zero plans. The Telegraph has the story.

Adrian Ramsay, one of the party’s four newly elected MPs, has said that he will seek a pause to the plans to build a 100-mile corridor of pylons stretching through his constituency of Waveney Valley.

The plans, which are currently under consultation by National Grid, will bring power from wind farms off the coast of East Anglia, and stretch from Norwich to Tilbury.

A spokesman for the Green Party said that the Government had “tried to force through one option” and Mr. Ramsay was “focused on securing a proper options assessment to ensure that the alternatives are properly considered, including an offshore grid”.

The new Labour Government has a target for the electricity grid to be run from 100% green sources by 2030, and will set out plans in its first days to lift the ban on onshore wind farms, and encourage community backing for local renewable projects.

But the opposition from within the Green Party, which has urged the country to move even faster to Net Zero, shows the challenge of getting the public onside, even when they support action on climate change. …

The Norwich to Tilbury pylon plan has been the subject of controversy in the local area, with campaigners saying the proposals for 110 miles of cabling using 50m high pylons will “destroy our historic landscapes and will require huge loss of trees”. …

Speaking after his win in Waveney Valley, Mr. Ramsay said he would “stand up for the issues that really matter to people here”.

Indeed. Whilst movements like Solidarnosc played an enormous role in the disintegration of the USSR, it must be stressed that it collapsed from within: they all ate each other.

The cost to everyone concerned was immense, though…

Yes. I think you can make popcorn over an animal dung fire.

The only problem is pretty soon you’ll need a wheel barrow load of worthless tenners to buy a bag of popcorn. At least in Zimbabwe they had paper money so you could use it as bog roll.

Not just one ‘sunbeam’. His constituents voted him in on a manifesto that was heavily skewed to policies that include the adoption of Labour’s net zero plans, literally four days ago… a veritable summer’s day* of sunbeams needing to suck it up.

* not this summer, obviously…

The technology doesn’t deliver it just makes it worse The plans to ‘de-carbonise’ the grid seem about as relevant as discussions from a previous age about how many angels could dance on the head of a pin. It seems ironic that we talk about the current cadre of elite politicians as technocrats when their practical knowledge of technology seems closer to zero than net-zero is ever going to get! Either they are completely mad or incredibly sinisterly bad or maybe both? So much of the forthcoming Labour dream seems founded on pink cloud wishful thinking about what they would like technology to deliver rather than any hard and fast grasp of what is technically possible. With EV cars it is becoming increasingly noted that these are becoming non repairable they are being written off a the slightest problem, there is a video about this here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGxxnQI4ITI EV’s are becoming a one trick pony, a very expensive throw away smart phone on wheels. A complete environmental disaster but according to Labour technocrats, EVs are the future. The inability of all this new net-zero green technology to deliver will, in my view, mean that Labour, like Electric Cars will be a one… Read more »

Labour might be a one trick pony. It just depends how long their stupidity takes to unfold. How long it takes for electricity prices to skyrocket even harder than under the silly Tories. Because it will take a few years to get all of those wind projects going.
But a quick look over at Germany reveals a country with about 40,000 wind turbines. They got rid of Nuclear because of fears over Fukushima, which was caused by an earthquake, but Europe does not sit around the “Ring of Fire, so earthquakes are about as likely as Biden being on Mastermind. As result of this green absurdity they have destroyed their Industrial base and have some of the highest electricity prices in Europe (and the world) along with the sill Danes. So we are doing the very same, and under the imbecile Miliband will do it even faster and harder than every other country. ———The damage to freedom and prosperity is going to be quite remarkable, but as someone once pointed out “The people get the government they deserve”———-How long it takes us to wake up I have no idea.

Oh FFS, France! ”Jean-Luc Mélenchon speaking: he calls for a Popular Front government, with the full application of its extreme left-wing programme. He declares that he does not need votes from MPs immediately and wants to govern by decree from the summer onwards. RN Vice-president Louis Aliot speaking: The French preferred chaos in the National Assembly to trusting the party that came out on top in the 1st round. The ideas of the Popular Front are ultra-minority, and France will be ungovernable. RN president Bardella speaking: he underlines the mobilisation of patriots, and denounces the defamation, intimidation, and contempt that prevailed during the two rounds against the RN. He condemned the alliance of dishonour between the centre and the Left. Bardella says the policies that will be implemented over the coming months will not address any of the current political concerns of the French people. Bardella confirms the RN will join Viktor Orbáns conservative patriotic ‘Patriots for Europe’ group in the European Parliament. Details will be announced after the groups formation meeting on Monday, July 8th. Head of Rassemblement National parliamentary group at the National Assembly Marine Le Pen commented on results: ”I’ve had too much experience to be disappointed… Read more »

Sodding hell, it’s always the same isn’t it? More here;

”PARIS — The left-wing alliance in France is on course to win the most seats in parliament in a dramatic election upset, dealing a surprise blow to the far-right party of Marine Le Pen, according to early estimates.
Le Pen’s National Rally came top in the first round of voting a week ago and was aiming to secure the most seats in France’s legislature for the first time in the party’s history. But tactical voting and collaboration between Le Pen’s opponents in an effort to keep her party out of power appeared to have paid off, initial forecasts from pollsters suggested.
Macron’s own position as president was not at stake in the election: He is due to remain in office until 2027.”

I know that whenever a side loses to the globalist Leftards we always say the election was rigged, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the case, as per the Trump example. Plus there’s the not insignificant number of migrants and those with a migrant background ( 2nd/3rd generation ) in France, and they’re unlikely to vote for Le Pen’s party, who was even going on about banning the hijab, which I thought a bit extreme and unrealistic. This from a few days back, for those who didn’t catch it then. Is this sneaky AF? I’d say so; ”Opponents of France’s anti-immigration National Rally party last night made final bids to keep it from power. The hard-Right party, known as RN, led by Marine Le Pen, was the clear winner of the first round of parliamentary elections on Sunday, winning a third of all votes across all 577 constituencies. But there is a second round of votes for candidates who secured more than 12.5 per cent and less than 50 per cent in the first round. And opponents of the RN – including President Emmanuel Macron‘s centrist Together (Ensemble) coalition and Left-wing alliance the New Popular Front – yesterday faced a deadline for tactically… Read more »

From personal experience I would say that vote fraud is endemic in British politics although to what depth I am not sure, but it certainly happens. If it occurs in the birthplace of democracy why would it not in other “democracies.” The United States electoral system is undoubtedly riven with fraud on an industrial scale so why would it not occur in other Western nations?

Strangely, most electoral fraud seems to take place against centre ie common sense electorates rather than those supporting left-wing totalitarian systems. Obviously that is not to suggest that there is some sort of globalist conspiracy but who knows?

The irony in France just now is that the West-hating Leftards and Islamists rioted when Le Pen was winning the first round but they’re again rioting even though they’ve been victorious! Make it make sense.
But the ”far-right” are the real threats?! How many times must this myth be effectively debunked by the very ‘projectionists’ and downright liars themselves?? Jesus wept… 😮
There’s surely never a dull moment if you’re a French police officer.

”The Far-Left are violently rioting.

When they lost the first round of elections last week, they resorted to public violence.

Now that they are winning.. they are resorting to public violence.

I’m pretty sure we know who the extremists are.”

An offshore grid? The man is a lunatic.

Rose Madder

Just think of it as a really big extension cable from Norwich to Tilbury running along the seabed a few miles offshore. Net zero is a cost free idea so it shouldn’t be much more difficult than pylons.

Oil will be needed to create the Carbon Fibre blades. In other words to be carbon neutral will require a lot of carbon.

In that case why can’t the same cable be buried instead of having pylons across the land?
A grid implies more than just a single cable, after all, that is how it gets from offshore to onshore.

It’s not really hypocrisy. This reveals the true Green Party agenda. They think we should use less energy – not just low carbon energy, less. Therefore there’s no need to provide an uprated grid to bring it on-shore or supply it into cities.

I’m looking forward to my hypocritical “green obsessed” LibDem voting sister rejoining the campaign to oppose a wind farm in her “special” part of Hampshire ….. which will no doubt be revived very shortly.

“100% electricity from Green sources by 2030” ———–Except if by Green they mean wind sun and tidal then you cannot do that unless you have storage as all of these technologies are part time. Only coal gas and Nuclear are full time sources of energy production. Storage technology (batteries) at the grid level currently does not exist and is not likely to at a cost that would be anything other than astronomical any time soon. So since 2030 is “anytime soon”, this simply CANNOT and WILL NOT happen. The Net Zero Eco Socialists are the biggest shower of imposters ever to govern this country, and remember that the entire Political Class are in on this scam, except Reform.

Looks like a classic NIMBY. Anyway, he should take a trip to Somerset and have a look at the latest design of pylons built for Hinkley Point C. They are a bit different compared with the old style.
