https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2024-05-29/falklands-war-medal-analysed-in-police-chief-probe-110-a-copy-expert The leader of the opposition and previously, Director of Public Prosecution, was yesterday shown on this site to be a compulsive liar. Today: ‘Nick Adderley, Northamptonshire’s chief constable, is accused of gross misconduct having allegedly exaggerated his rank, length of service and achievements while in the Royal Navy. That includes either promoting or failing to correct suggestions that he fought in the Falklands War in 1982 – when he would have been just 15 years old. Mr Adderley had been due to give evidence but, after a short meeting on Wednesday afternoon, his barrister Matthew Holdcroft said his client had decided not to give evidence “in light of legal advice given” in relation to potential criminal proceedings. Complaints were made against Mr Adderley after he was seen wearing a South Atlantic Medal (SAM), awarded to British military personnel and civilians for service in the conflict. Speaking on the second day of a three-day disciplinary hearing, Chris Hayward, who has worked at the Ministry of Defence’s medal office for 15 years, told the hearing that, during his career, he had inspected “hundreds, if not thousands” of SAMs. He said that, in his view, a SAM sent to him by the Independent Office for PoliceConduct… Read more »
https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-police-backtrack-after-chief-threatened-to-search-shoppers-trolleys-11971269 ‘Northamptonshire Police chief constable Nick Adderley prompted criticism after saying his force was “only a few days away” from “marshalling supermarkets and checking the items in baskets and trolleys to see whether it’s a legitimate, necessary item”. In remarks condemned as “outrageous” by a leading civil liberties campaigner, he also warned roadblocks would be set up if members of the public did not adhere to government guidelines designed to curb the spread of coronavirus.’ https://www.northantslive.news/news/northamptonshire-news/chief-constables-scathing-response-man-5292835 ‘Northamptonshire Police’s Chief Constable Nick Adderley has been praised for hitting out at a man who claimed one of his officers had been “arrogant”. A person going under the Twitter handle, Martyn Burton, tweeted about a video posted on Youtube on April 12 that has been viewed nearly 57,000 times. In the video, the person is walking through Kettering when he comes across a police officer who is handing out a Covid-19 ticket to a delivery man who had apparently entered Thursfields Pharmacy in Gold Street, Kettering without a mask on. Throughout the video, the man tries to engage the officer and can be heard saying “that was a bit harsh officer?” He later says: “Could you not have used your discretion? Do you sleep at night?”… Read more »
Well, speaking as the former Head of the Hong Kong Police who singlehandedly won World War 2, and two VCs from Idi Amin, I think it’s appalling that these con-men don’t even have their credentials checked.
In all seriousness, having “appointed” a couple of Chief Constables of Essex Police (by passing them more or less physically fit when I was the Force Medical Officer) the thought that such an appointment could ever have been made using bogus credentials demonstrates a level of unprofessional stupidity across the force that warrants its replacement with a citizen militia.
Don’t you mean Chief Vegetable? Most have them have been Common-Purposed and wokeified to Cabbage-Head status for the last 25 years at least.
Indeed, as with so many of our ‘leaders’ in public life. I was discussing, only yesterday, the remarkable resemblance the leader of the Liberal Democrats has to ‘Mr Potato Head’.
Bloody brilliant comment. Love it.
Thank you!
Most people might embellish their past a little. The trick is to keep it modest, so that there’s little to be gained by investigating things for the truth. To go full blown Walter Mitty and stand for office, with claims that can be obviously checked for veracity, reflects badly not only on the candidate, but also the selecting officers who have failed their due diligence.
Adderley is accused of “gross misconduct” but obtaining a job via lies at the application stage is hardly misconduct. To be guilty of misconduct implies that he was conducting himself appropriately but that would have been impossible as his employment was fraudulent from the off.
I did 30 years in the police and came across some excellent senior officers. Proper decent types. I also came across some who I wouldn’t have pi**ed on were they on fire. A current *very* senior police officer used to be one of my sergeants many years ago, early in my service. I found them to be one of the most evil, scheming, malicious and dangerous people I have ever known. Plenty of my then-colleages were of the same opinion.
One of my last Chief Superintendents I found to be one of the most vile, nasty, unpleasant pieces of work. I have never heard so many police officers and civilian members of staff speak so ill of another senior officer.
For balance, another of my last Chief Superinetendents was a thoroughly decent and honest person. I would willingly have followed this person into battle. Unfortunately, I believe this type of person to be a rarity amongst senior officers.
The previous two I’d have pushed onto the battlefield and left them to it.
“Three cops injured and 40 people arrested at pro-Palestine protest in Westminster which saw officer ‘struck by bottle’”
But as far as I can see not reported, even the next day, by BBC, Telegraph, Independent, Times, Mail or Mirror.
Did they shove a D-notice on to disguise the unpreparedness of the police (complete absence of riot shields and, until late in the day, even hard helmets), or to prevent people letting left-wing/Islamist unrest affect their voting, or what?
It’s very easy to imagine, in a couple of years time, being arrested and summarily imprisoned, and only then finding out that the country had become subject to Sharia Law, but the Press never got round to reporting it.
Live footage was shown on GB News.
What! Get Ofcom to shut it down immediately!
An ultra cynic might suggest that Diane Abbot is financially supported by the Conservative Party in some way – perhaps via media coverage. Quite likely to be beneficial to the latter.
Abacus Abbott is without doubt a vote winner for the tories.
Which is why Queer Smarmer won’t let her stand in any constituency.
Pity, it would be such fun to watch.
Agreed 👍
Not sure about that but the way he put his hand on her thigh and sat far too close to her on that sofa made me wince.
They were very cosy on the sofa but he puts his hand on his own thigh.
More correctly, the end of the theatrical production team pretending to be Conservatives.
There will have to be a purge – one way or the other. Either the socialist/big state faction will retain the name Conservative and Unionist Party and eject the conservatives or vice versa.
Morphism is more successful than brand new Parties in our electoral system.

If Farage does this again I believe his credibility as a politician will be shot. In fact I would consider such a deal to be bordering on treason. The people wishing to vote Reform are NOT going to go along with Farage on this and realistically I expect they simply won’t vote. Reform votes are not his to give away.
I agree but also baffled as to what Farage thinks he is going to give away – is he proposing to withdraw Reform candidates in return for the Tories adopting more Reform-like policies? Seems a bit late for that.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13470893/Bulgaria-fraud-Britain-benefits-scam-detective-exposed-gang.html
DWP are prosecuting for £52 million. The Bulgarian detective who did the work estimates £200 million. Bad as the figures are DWP opt for the lower figure for two reasons:
1. Embarrassment
2. They don’t want to dig any further because more digging might increase the £200 million.
I would be amazed if some staff hadn’t spotted the frauds and even tried to initiate investigations only to be rebuffed by senior managers. That is how DWP works. No managers want to be found on the end of industrial scale fraud so the easiest option is to stop any investigations.
This case I can assure readers here is tip of the iceberg stuff. Many, many cases which should lead to CPS (useless by the way) prosecutions get stopped at the Appeals stage either deliberately or owing to incompetent staff.
DWP is a money sieve.
“Nigel Farage hints he’s open to an election deal with the Tories”
Nigel, No, No, No! Who needs the Tories when all the Reform policies outlined today are so astonishing and wonderful? Here’s a free MSN reprint of a paywalled Telegraph article, so people can see for themselves.
