Cambridge to ‘Decolonise the Dodo’ in Taxpayer-Backed Project
The University of Cambridge is launching a taxpayer-backed, bird-brained initiative to “decolonise the dodo” by investigating its Museum of Zoology collection. The Telegraph has the story.
The university is seeking a PhD student to investigate its collection of plants and animals to root out imperial connections in its Museum of Zoology.
The successful candidate will be tasked with setting out how specimens from tigers to dodos might be linked to “the European colonial story”.
Prompts for the project suggest this work could focus on racial ideas, “violent” colonial activity, and “resource exploitation”.
In an advertisement for the role, the university has stated that the project will help to present the history of botany and zoology as more diverse than famed European scientists, in order to make people “feel represented by museums”.
The project forms part of Cambridge’s efforts to address its own “legacies of enslavement and empire”, and is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, which distributes taxpayer funding for research. …
The advertisement for the role with a £19,000 stipend also states that prominent objects in the museum collection reflect a “bias in the archive – centring, as they do, on prominent white naturalists”. …
A further prompt suggests a PhD researcher could investigate how “the definition of species, animals and kinds relate to ideas of race, gender and other variables of identity”.

Another PhD heading to be a burger flipper at McDonalds
The successful applicant would be under qualified to be a ‘crew member’ at McDs.
This is all well and good but we have a government taxing the O & G industry at 75%. As well coal being effectively banned as a means of producing energy. All this done by a so called conservative government. This story though funny is a distraction to the real one that the government is wilfully destroying the country.
The middle classes have bought the climate emergency, lock, stock and barrel. They are the people with more status and money who imagine this equates to intellectual and moral superiority. They are ‘saving the planet’, by telling the poor people what sacrifices they have to make. (See Stephen Sakur vs. President of Guyana the other day…). The bind that we are in economically in the West, can only be alleviated by economic growth, but they reject the thing that has made us all far wealthier, comparatively speaking, than our great grandads were.
And this is why kids today are worse off than previous generations, There is no economic growth.
The very people, youngsters, have themselves to blame for their lack of opportunity and ability to earn, save, invest, buy a property etc. They actively promote net zero, DIE, ESG, woke and anti-capitalist ideology, the very things that prevent prosperity and growth
But it doesn’t stop them bleating about the injustice of being worse off than their parents.
The story is real, and part of the wilful destruction of the country.
In order to “Build Back Better” first the government must destroy. And they are doing a first rate job of that.
True HP but you need to understand what they have really destroyed. You see the woke nonsense is only a cover for completely destroying our education system. Young adults today do not even know how to think properly, which is easily proved with an IQ test. If they cannot find an answer on Google, they do not know even how to find one anywhere else. You tube is full of videos of people doing the simplest tasks, which are the Bleed*** obvious! Real people can do very complex things, youngsters simply don’t know where to start!
This irrational and pathetic capitulation to the Woketards is never going to go away is it? Examples abound. Oxford Uni have taken another historical painting down, probably in case it gets the Balfour treatment ( and did they ever identify and apprehend that headcase? ) and now York Uni are putting trigger warnings on cold children’s classics; ”Children’s books including Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland have been slapped with “content warnings” by a university for possibly containing “racist” and “white supremacist” material. York St John University’s Rees-Williams Collection of children’s books – which date from the late 18th to the early 20th Century – comes with a hefty disclaimer which dwarfs the actual blurb about the collection itself. ”The full content warning reads: “Documents in special collections have contextual history and, as a whole, can inform our understanding of the contexts in which they came to exist. “Within the 150 years of children’s writing which is represented in the collection, there is a widespread occurrence of colonialist narratives which centre white supremacy, and racist and orientalist methods of both fictional and historical storytelling. “As such, it is possible, if not likely, that items consulted from the collection will include language and visual imagery… Read more »
Cambridge to ‘Decolonise the Dodo’ in Taxpayer-Backed Project
BY RICHARD ELDRED 1 APRIL 2024 7:00 AM
About 5 years ago this would have definitely been an April Fool.
Surely an April Fool but you can never tell these days!
The thing is foolish things are happening and being reported on every single day now. We no longer need a designated day for playing pranks and celebrating stupidity with daft news stories. Look at the recent article here from Steven Tucker, where he went through four different news items that any sane person even ten years ago would have looked at and laughed, especially if they’d been released on April 1st, and declared them ‘fake news’, but they were all in fact true. It’s April Fool’s 365 days per year now. And I think we do a good job on this site of highlighting and providing evidence of this.
Unfortunately very true. We are doomed!
I heard this on the World Service today. At first I was slightly shocked at this obvious nonsense, but then relaxed as I realised it was 1 Apr.
In fact I thought the BBC had actually done a rather good job on what was obviously a spoof documentary about how climate changes causes volcanos to erupt (apparently the extra rainfall dissolves the magma plugs). They also throw in a bit of Māori ‘science’ and obligatory chants passed down from ancestors as well. Great stuff.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/w3ct4y5l
However I have just seen it was released on 29 March! 😖
Just a completely fake news story then. No excuse!
The dodo is extinct, or as they say in Liverpool; de don’t do dodos dese days do de?
😀😀😀
April fool? Or should we get used to every day being an April fool day?
The dodo itself was an April fool’s day joke and we have all been taken in by it for centuries.
Happy April 1st everyone?
Its getting harder to tell.
It really is.
“bias in the archive – centring, as they do, on prominent white naturalists”. …
But it WAS “white naturalists” who bravely set out to explore God’s creation all over the world, despite the hardships and dangers, artists carefully painting the plants and animals in exquisite detail, while scientists were studying them and their habitats, naming each one and classifying them all.
It WAS the white man who did all these things, and brought their marvellous discoveries back to Europe, and it WAS the white man who paid for the museums to hold these discoveries, preserving them for future generations, for all the world to see. Their discoveries benefitted all of humanity.
We are PROUD of the achievements of our ancestors.
Ethnic Europeans: White and Proud.
April fool!
Surely?
If the Dodo is to be “Decolonized” it is surely best done on April 1st!
It was done on March 29th, as Solentviews said above.
Are Whites allowed to apply?
Unfortunately one cannot rewrite history, but idiots of this type are incapable of appreciating this. I have a Time Machine for sale in exchange for another PhD! PhD’s are now valueless thanks to woke fools.
