John Lewis Faces Boycott Calls as it Launches Magazine That Gives Tips on Breast Binders for ‘Trans Children’

John Lewis is facing calls for a boycott after it launched a magazine for staff which advises parents on how to find breast binders for ‘trans children’. The Telegraph has more.

The partnership, which also owns Waitrose, faced boycott calls on Wednesday after it issued a new publication to more than 70,000 staff members.

The Identity magazine, produced by the “LGTQIA+ network”, warned parents their support “can determine their child’s mental wellbeing” before quoting figures from controversial charity Stonewall, which suggested that the number of trans children attempting suicide is “double the national average”.

The magazine recommends support from the charity Mermaids, which is currently under investigation by the Charity Commission amid safeguarding concerns, and praises private clinic Gender GP for prescribing cross-sex hormones.

James Esses, co-ordinator of the Declaration for Biological Reality, who was sent the magazine by a concerned staff member, said  “My main concern is that we have an employer pushing a divisive and dangerous ideology on to its staff members.

“It is particularly concerning that it suggests to potentially vulnerable parents in a difficult situation that the answer to their daughter’s distress with their bodies would be to get them a breast binder, that is the most alarming thing of all.”

Calls for a boycott of the stores come as the company is already struggling financially, with multi-million pound losses prompting plans for a major turnaround.

Earlier this week, it emerged that staff, braced for sweeping job cuts, have been warned they face disciplinary action if they post abusive comments on its internal forum.

It is not the first time that John Lewis has sparked controversy over trans issues. In 2019 it caused a row over protection of single sex spaces after telling customers they can use “whichever fitting room makes them feel most comfortable”.

The Senior management team should be sacked, they have forgotten what their business is, which is to sell Groceries and Homewares, their role is not to interfere or indeed care about the sex lives, private lives or otherwise of the people who work for them. The contract is they employ people to perform a task, they pay them to do so, if they don’t perform properly then they go, the Management teams job is to provide the customer with the products they want, with comensurate service, and thus create a profit and a return for shareholders. If the company wishes to branch out further into social profiling, and the personal preferences of its employees, its in the wrong business.
Frankly they deserve to go broke, its the employees who just want to do their job, get paid and go home I feel sorry for.

Hear hear. Being a retired ‘Partner’ who served 38 years I feel I have a bit of skin in the game here. It is very sad to see my former employer of whom I was once proud to be associated with (and tbh I still am to a certain extent) go down hill so rapidly. My former colleagues that still work there are very dissatisfied with what is going on and I get the feeling it is generally not a happy ship. Even walking around Waitrose nowadays is depressing especially when they put those ghastly rainbow signs up by the tills. The sooner Ms White goes and takes her cronies with her the better. My only hope is she’s not replaced by someone even less suited (if that’s possible).

Isn’t the John Lewis Partnership owned by a trust on behalf of its employees? In which case, any returns would benefit the workers as opposed to non-working shareholders.
Such an organisation may be anathema to globalist tyrants. Getting it to self-destruct through such woke nonsense would be just what they want.

Gonzalo lira dead. 55. If trump dies in jail the BBC will be beside itself with joy. Again neither side has the monopoly on virtue, our side seem very holier than thou however. The west is a disgusting woke dictatorship that has no business claiming to be democratic or lecturing anyone.

My apologies. I had no idea you were suffering from that kind of condition.

Best wishes for a swift recovery.

I don’t have any condition other than the terminal condition called life that will take me sooner rather than later. I’m just pointing to the equivalence of both sides in their treatment of dissidents, IE we have no dog in this fight.

Good coverage by They Duran: many comments also flag Lira. Doctorow reckons – cui bono and all that – it was the Brits wot done it…

https://gilbertdoctorow.substack.com/p/death-of-aleksei-navalny-the-brits

In short, what happened in the West this afternoon was a new campaign to vilify Vladimir Putin on the world stage based on a death which was, if I may quote former British PM Theresa May, ‘highly likely’ to have been perpetrated by British Intelligence for this very purpose.

In all of the false flag operations that have been directed by the West against Russia over the past decade or more, I have argued that the old Roman investigative principle of cui bono militated against the Kremlin having been involved in any way. So it is today: why would Putin want to murder Navalny, when the man is now largely forgotten within Russia. Navalny is yesterday’s news and his ‘anti-corruption’ campaign is irrelevant to Russians in the midst of an existential struggle with the Collective West that is being fought on the territory of Ukraine?

One really has to appreciate this total nonsense: So Russia is fighting an existental struggle on foreign soil against a bunch of states whose soldiers don’t participate in this war?

Hello?

Is there anything that’s so obviously completely absurd that this gets actually noticed?

If we don’t help Ukraine we will indeed be trying to protect our own houses. Russia sees the fight in Ukraine as just a necessary first step. After that, Eastern Europe.

Utter drivel. This fantastical nonsense is the same school of thought as the russian steam roller before ww1. I will bet you my entire wealth that Russia will not invade NATO in the next 20 years. Happy to make a bet with you.

There us a degree of symbolism attached to John Lewis the erstwhile British company and therefore I believe it has been targeted for collapse. I suppose it was a toss-up between JL and M & S and JL lost.

The way of the world these days.

The answer is:

Dame Sharon Michele White, Lady Chote, DBE (born 21 April 1967) is a British businesswoman. She is the current Chair of the John Lewis Partnership, having previously held a variety of roles in the Civil Service.
She was the Chief Executive of the British media regulator Ofcom from March 2015 to November 2019,[1] and was Second Permanent Secretary at HM Treasury from 2013 to 2015.[2
[Wikipedia]

Why precisely this ‘lady’ who has (according to Wikipedia) never worked in a real job (church, civil service, John Lewis) is referred to as businesswoman is anybody’s guess.

I think a better idea than boycotting John Lewis would be to write to them to tell them that shouldn’t be advocating physically harmful sex practices for minors(!). At least for people who are capable of creating agreeable texts.

This was supposed to mean “people who can write agreeable text” should consider doing this, eg, like the style Elizabeth Hart employs. I couldn’t do that.

This is the first thing you’ll currently see if you go to the Marks & Spencer:

“Love Your Boobs”

By accident or by design? Either way, it’s a refreshing message compared with John Lewis.

Very refreshing 👍
Just a shame the model’s in the ad don’t seem to have any!
You would have thought stating ‘love your boobs’ would mean using models with ample shop frontage!
Must be post binding?

All the John Lewis and Waitrose people don’t deserve to be punished because of this “businesswoman” wasting company resources on marketing physically harmful practices to minors who’ll just walk away a few million £ richer from whatever smouldering ruins she leaves in her wake.

For good measure, I hereby object to this kind of black people calling themselves white. That’s cultural inappropriation.

When will John Lewis, and it’s hopelessly woke Chairman (yes I called her a chairman) Sharon White get w
the message – Go woke,go broke.
the company has also banned critical or offensive articles or messages on its intranet.
the Company should concentrate on making money not alienating its staff and customers.

HicManemus

So, JL happily alienates all its older, more experienced staff in the hope that they will quit. Then employs young folk who haven’t a clue but won’t get the same salary or pension rights…oh and the redundancy money won’t be so expensive when they have to sack them all as JL goes down the tubes.

I’ve messaged their Customer Services to inform them that I am now boycotting both John Lewis and Waitrose.

I worked for Waitrose for a couple of years when my kids were young, so I have a very small pension from them. It’s sad to see how the company has deteriorated.
