What’s really going on: ‘Russia still maintains the strategic objective of bringing about the subjugation of Ukraine. It now believes that it is winning. Surrender terms currently being proposed by Russian intermediaries include Ukraine ceding the territory already under Russian control along with Kharkiv, and in some versions Odessa; agreeing not to join NATO; and maintaining a head of state approved by Russia. The only significant concession Russia proposes is that what is left of Ukraine can join the EU. The process by which Russia aims to bring about this outcome is in three stages. The first requires the continuation of pressure along the length of the Ukrainian front to drain the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s (AFU) munitions and reserves of personnel. Parallel to this effort, the Russian Special Services are tasked with breaking the resolve of Ukraine’s international partners to continue to provide military aid. Once military aid has been significantly limited such that Ukrainian munition stocks become depleted, Russia intends to initiate further offensive operations to make significant – if slow – gains on the battlefield. These gains are then intended to be used as leverage against Kyiv to force capitulation on Russian terms. The planning horizon for… Read more »
But if Putin doesn’t win by 2026, he’s stuffed: ‘Russia faces significant limitations in the longevity and reliability of its industrial output. Of the tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, for example, approximately 80% are not new production but are instead refurbished and modernised from Russian war stocks. The number of systems held in storage means that while Russia can maintain a consistent output through 2024, it will begin to find that vehicles require deeper refurbishment through 2025, and by 2026 it will have exhausted most of the available stocks.’ ‘….the most serious limitation for Russia, however, is ammunition manufacture. In order to achieve its aspiration to make significant territorial gains in 2025, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has assessed an industrial requirement to manufacture or source approximately 4 million 152mm and 1.6 million 122mm artillery shells in 2024……to properly resource the armed forces, Russia must – in the short term – further draw down its remaining 3 million rounds of stored ammunition, though much of this is in poor condition. To further compensate for shortages, Russia has signed supply and production contracts with Belarus, Iran, North Korea and Syria, with the latter only able to provide forged shell… Read more »
I am not sure what up and down ticks mean. Does UP mean we agree that is what Russia hopes for or does it signify approval of their objectives.
I agree that is what Russia wants but I totally disapprove of allowing it to happen.
As with all my posts on this subject, up is for Ukraine, down is for Russia.
It is not clear why anyone would support the invasion of Ukraine twice in the last ten years unless they were benefiting in some way from Putin’s largesse.
Being a simple binary system, voting down can simply indicate an opinion about your interpretation of the realities of the situation. I do not stand with Ukraine, and yet at the same time, I do not stand with Russia either. This possibility appears to have passed you by.
Who do you stand with? Britain?:
‘The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the CSCE [Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe] Final Act, to respect the Independence and Sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine.’
‘The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, reaffirm their commitment to seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to Ukraine, as a non-nuclear-weapon State Party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, if Ukraine should become a victim of an act of aggression’
Signed: John Major, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, 1994
To abstain is to stand with Russia, as the aggressor.
I was simply offering a straightforward rule of thumb for the distinguished commentator, Mr E. Blogger
If you have a view regarding any of my opinions, I am always delighted to hear from you.
“Women in Armed Forces ‘feel unsafe’ after Grant Shapps comments”
And joining the army is all about safe space, isn’t it?
So – all a prescribed enemy needs to do to defeat British soldiers is to be ‘uninclusive’ and they’ll go running back to barracks? Who knew.
“Heat pump and electric car charger size limits scrapped”
And what about the cables to these properties? Will they be increased to cope with the extra power requirements? Hardly!
“The police officer is clearly worried that he and his colleagues are heavily outnumbered and that these protesters could pose a threat ”
Mob rule then? The loudest most threating gang wins!
I wonder if it had been the bnp doing the shouting and threatening the officer would have backed down in the same way?
Called for back up more like and a thousand officers would have materialised from nowhere instantly to arrest them all!
The policeman invented a future scenario in his head. It seems nothing had happened up until that point and no-one had been triggered otherwise that would have been the story.
“The policeman invented a future scenario…”
Bloody modelling infests everything.
Absolutely spot on, you are!

Seriously, WTF is this? Because this snuck in quietly yesterday in France. A new law just passed sees people being fined 15,000 Euros for openly criticizing the death jabs, amongst other abuses of human rights. Does anyone know any more details?
”Today a law was passed in France qualifying any opposition to mRNA-LNP injections as a “sectarian aberration”. It carries a penalty of up to 3 years’ imprisonment and 45,000 euros.
“It will not tolerate any criticism of the therapeutic treatments which will be recommended or made obligatory by the state. Any person who dares to openly criticize these therapies will be liable to fines and imprisonment.”

Even the bloody copper is a foreigner! FFS!
He sounds Scottish although that may seem foreign in central Edinburgh nowadays.
No, he doesn’t sound Scottish at all. He sounds like a Muslim pretending to be concerned for the welfare of the Jewish man displaying the symbol of his faith. I wonder if he would have also asked a Christian man to hide his cross?
He sounds Scottish and looks white from the video. Is there another bit of footage?
“I wonder if he would have also asked a Christian man to hide his cross?”
This area used to be covered by Lothian & Borders Police until it became Police Scotland. I remember hearing back in the ’80’s about a Christian friend of a relative being mocked for her beliefs by the police that came to her assistance. It really depends who’s on duty.

Well, he always likes to pretend he’s on the front line. Couldn’t he have fought to the last man?
He’ll definitely get a medal for this.
