“A Woke and Extremist Culture has Infiltrated the Army” Says Defence Secretary

The Army’s time and resources are being “squandered to promote a political agenda”, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has said, as he held crisis talks with military chiefs over plans to relax security checks to increase diversity. The Telegraph has more.

Grant Shapps said a “woke” and “extremist culture” had infiltrated the British Army and the military needed to focus on being a lethal fighting force.

He said that, amid the threat from Russia and the conflict in the Middle East, it was “inconceivable” that he would allow the standards for security clearance to be relaxed after the Telegraph revealed military personnel wanted to relax checks to promote ethnic diversity among officers.

On Sunday, Mr. Shapps spoke to senior military chiefs to express his concerns about the plans and on Monday will officially launch a review of ethnicity, diversity and inclusivity policies in his department.

The military is suffering a recruitment crisis and has repeatedly failed to meet its targets, including boosting women and ethnic minority numbers.

However, all three branches of the military have also been plagued by a series of rows over how they attempt to improve diversity.

Last year, Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton had to apologise for an RAF diversity drive that discriminated against white men.

Worth reading in full.

If only we’d had a Conservative Government in power over the last decade to prevent the spread of all this corrosive wokery in our key public institutions…

The solution of course is to repeal the Equality Act and ban all EDI initiatives, insisting by law that all public institutions operate on impartial, meritocratic, function-focused principles.

I do wonder. I mean, has he really just realised this now? I doubt it. So what he’s probably doing is just grandstanding so that asleep Tory voters are reminded that the Tories are “conservative” and with that box ticked they will go back to sleep and keep voting for the Woke Socialist Party as they should be called. But even that is a bit far-fetched – if they really cared about getting re-elected they would have gone full-on with actual conservative policies ages ago. So I find the whole thing baffling. I’d love to inject a few of them with truth serum.

tof, I am now at the point where I seriously believe that the destruction of the current Conservative party is being deliberately engineered. I accept that we have some of the most corrupt and frankly stupid politicians ever to infect the House of Commons but the blatant rush to the cliffs is only explained by their actions being pre-programmed. I have had enough of excuses and cock-up theories.

The Tories are positively clamouring for annihilation.

I am inclined to agree. It’s plausible that some of them are delusional idiots, but not all of them and not IMO the senior leadership team.

You don’t need to be a political genius, especially in times when there are just a few big issues people care about. “Get Brexit Done” – win a landslide. “Build a wall” – win an unlikely victory against the political establishment. Albeit in neither case did the protagonists deliver as they should have done, but they knew what message to hammer home.

No uptick from me. The left wing tories thoughgt they could get away with it, and they still might. If Reform does not get a good enough vote or if they fail to exploit their position afterwards, the tories will pretend to have changed and carry on as before: two steps left, one step back, three steps left, one step back at election time.

I think the plan is to destroy any last vestiges of conservatism in the party by a massive clear-out ….. so that Lord Dave of Greenshill Lobbying can do a permanent deal with the LibDems ….. creating the Con-Dems.

And condemned they will be!

I just don’t understand why previous Tory voters choose to vote Lib Dem, this party is more left wing than Labour and more ‘green’ than the Greens.
Tories voting Lib Dem is illogical and irrational, better to spoil your ballot paper.

I’ve realised politicians are so weak, they spend ALL their time triangulating negatives, by which I mean thinking about how to say things in a way that offends no one. Of course this in itself, as the electorate have become exasperated, has become desperately offensive. I think they need to stop thinking about policy entirely (especially negative triangulation) because the loss of faith and anger, especially post pandemic, has become so acute, the issue has dropped to a wholly different layer. We are now in the realms of psychological disgust. This means policy is no longer the focus. Realising this, I now play directly to the disgust about politicians rather than politics per se. The world has shifted, post pandemic, to such a degree, I now find rather than being the older unwelcome conservative gammon cudgel in the corner at dinner parties I can be outspoken and raise a laugh. People are venturing outside the Overton Window and the more “radical” I am the more animated they become. I can now speak my mind totally without filter and it garners respect in a similar way to when you tell a joke that is rude, but good. Whereas pre pandemic this… Read more »

I think your analysis about them trying not to offend is correct though I do wonder if they quite have this right because they are probably thinking of not offending dinner party guests rather than the electorate at large.

It’s good that you speak without a filter. Broadly speaking we simply don’t spend any time with people we can’t do this – former friends and acquaintances have mainly been dropped – mutual loathing!

It seems to me that politicians in government, even the most senior ones, are openly revealing that they don’t control the bureaucracy.

Basically the bureaucracy no longer answers to the electorate (if it ever did) but to other interests, starting mo doubt with their own.

Possibly – but Parliament is sovereign and if they really wanted to they could replace the bureaucrats or radically trim their power, but I think they are either afraid of doing so or lack the imagination or they simply don’t want to

One thing they could do is make the state involved in much less and send the bureaucrats home, but I doubt they want to limit state involvement- quite the opposite

repeal the Equality Act and ban all EDI initiatives, insisting by law that all public institutions operate on impartial, meritocratic, function-focused principles.”

Exactly.

Furthermore, as I stated previously, people who share a common background and have shared values will always outperform a diverse and therefore unavoidably dysfunctional concoction of random individuals who share nothing.

If the army top brass cannot recognise that basic training is intended to mold individuals in to a single fighting unit then those top brass are in the wrong industry and deserve to be sacked – immediately.

It is clear that the lessons of history are easily forgotten. Can anyone remember why the Pals Battalions were raised in the First World War?

To expand the British army in France and turn it into a fighting force suitable for a war with large numbers of casualties (ie, one which could replete its ranks from the general population) while still pretending that military service was voluntary.

The Pals battalions of World War One Britain were raised because the young men who joined them were Pals and the top brass knew it.

Pals are close friends, buddies, best mates. Many of those lads went to school together or worked together in the same mills and factories. They grew up together. Their histories were nigh on interchangeable. The Army high command knew they could rely on the men in these battalions because of their close knit backgrounds. These lads joined up by the factory load – literally.

So despite the fact that the feats of the Pals Battalions are part of our military history our military top brass wish to go against all known logic and recruit random immigrants, ne’er do well’s and trans people and conclude that such rabble might form a square and defend the flag to the last man.

These idiots are taking the proverbial.

In my opinion, this was mainly a propaganda trick to increase peer pressure on people from a certain region to volunteer because “all of their pals” were volunteering as well. This also imitated established practice in the German (and probably French as well, but I don’t know if this is true) conscription armies where regiments were permanently garrisoned in certain regions and would get all their recruits from the region they were garrisoned in. An intended second-order effect was probably to increase performance by introducing competition between regiments from different regions in a way similar to how rivalry between present-day fans of football clubs from different regions works. I don’t think that’s comparable to present-day mercenary armies (similar to mercenary armies of the past, eg, the BEF from 1914 – 1915) where soldiers are expected to fight because they’re professionals (ie, because they get paid to fight) and where cohesion is supposed to come from a shared esprit de corps among the troops. Considering this, recruiting ‘rabble’ ought to work provided that ‘rabble’ is then forged into close-knit units via training. This would obviously mean that woke victim hierarchies and the endless division of any social body into competing groups… Read more »

**Warning: Off-Territory Dump incoming** Remember the Iraqi refugee over in Sweden who kept on burning Korans? Sweden are only going ahead and deporting him. So out of the vast amount of Muslim criminals, gang members who are above the law and thugs who’ve committed dreadful crimes, harming citizens and getting off with a slap on the wrist, they choose to deport somebody who is admittedly a shit-stirrer, antagonizing the sizeable Muslim community they’ve got over there, but has never harmed a hair on anyone’s head because he’s demonstrably not a danger to the public! They’ve now gone and given this bloke a death sentence because how’s he going to be received back in Iraq as an apostate? Insane example of injustice this! ”Rabat – Sweden is set to deport Salwan Momika, the controversial man behind last year’s Quran-burning protests, as local reports indicate that a Swedish court has upheld the deportation order against the controversial man. Reports said the migration court in Sweden confirmed that Momika will be deported. The decision comes a few months after the immigration authorities in the country refused to extend Mokia’s residence permit. According to reports, the rejection came after the man provided “false” information… Read more »

Seemingly the Swedish authorities would prefer it if proven dangerous dirtbags like this, who demonstrably do not respect western culture or laws, let alone the citizens, remain in the country though. Consider yourselves enriched to the max, courtesy of TPTB and a justice system that is evidently on the side of the criminals. Diversity for the win! ”The four Eritreans who committed aggravated rape against a 40-year-old Swedish woman in Stockholm in June of last year have been sentenced to jail. However, despite the prosecutor’s request, the court decided they will not be deported. As Remix News previously reported, on the night of June 26, 2022, a 40-year-old intoxicated woman was attacked by four men, all of whom were unknown to her, in Flemingsberg, south of Stockholm. One of the men kicked the woman to the ground in a forest near the train station. He and the other three foreigners then took turns raping her. Afterward, two of the perpetrators brought the woman to Flemingsberg station where they raped her again in an elevator. Prosecutor Axel Frick at the Södertörn Prosecutor’s Office said at the time that the crime is serious due to the fact it was a gang rape and… Read more »

In the UK any alleged threat of harm which a deportee might face on his enforced return is sufficient to guarantee permanent residence in the UK even when we know it’s a load of bollox. In this instance this poor fella is now a ‘dead man walking.’

It is a bitter pill to swallow knowing that all of the authorities, including the judiciary, are on the side of the criminals and that the perpetrators of the most heinous crimes have their human rights prioritized over those of the victim. It seems to be a tale as old as time with countless examples stacking up constantly. The situation with the Iraqi guy is massively unjust, in my opinion. He’s never harmed anyone. Yes he may have got a bit carried away with his rights to ”freedom of expression” but it was all within the law.

And when they give the reason in the article that he ”provided false information” on his asylum application, I smell a rat there. I just think they want rid of him because he’s a rabble-rouser and they’ve got too many Muslims there now that he’s become a risk to national security. On paper anyway. It’s what happens when you carry on appeasing the invaders over the years though. It comes back to bite you on the arse. It’ll be ‘Swedenistan’ before long anyway. The damage is done and the forecast is bleak.

So we have a Defence Sec whose party opened the floodgates to wokism.
An Education Sec who authorised the indoctrination of sexual deviation to our infant children.
A Health Sec who funds hospitals to build rainbow zebra crossings.
Can I ask: what is the point of the Conservative Party?

People may have forgotten that it was none other than Dancing Tory PM Teresa May who authorised the indoctrination of sexual deviation to our infant children. She also signed the Global Migration Pact without consulting People or Parliament. Just as it was “Conservative” David Cameron who pushed for the legalisation of sodomite marriage and “rights” as a priority during his time as Prime Minister.

And it was Conservative PM Margaret Thatcher who announced that there were “too many dentists”, and forced the closure of the three largest dental schools in the United Kingdom.

To repeal the In-Equality Act and scrap the DEI nonsense, you’d need a Conservative Government in Office.

There’s not a hope of that happening when the effective choice is between Cultural Marxist Labour and the Not-a-Conservative-Party.
