Spanish Holiday Regions Reintroduce Covid Mask Mandates

The Spanish region of Valencia has brought back the mandatory use of masks in health centres due to the rise in respiratory infections. The Mail has more.

The Spanish Government hasn’t made any announcement about the return of obligatory mask wearing but regions such as Valencia – where tourist hotspots Benidorm and Alicante are located – are already imposing their own rules again.

Valencia’s health department has today implemented the mandatory use of masks in health centres due to the rise in respiratory infections.

This preventive measure is considered relevant given the incidence in the Valencian community, with a rate of 1,501 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The objective is to stop infections and protect vulnerable people.

The department is also relaying the message that health centres will vaccinate against flu and COVID-19 starting next Monday without the need for an appointment.

From today, it will be mandatory to wear a mask when entering health centres and hospitals throughout the Valencian community.

The Ministry of Health established the mask protocol due to the spike in flu cases and respiratory infections in recent weeks.

The last weekly report for influenza, COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses in 2023 marked a global rate of acute respiratory infection in primary care of 908.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, when the previous week the figure was 806; and in general at all levels of care of 1,501 cases per 100,000 inhabitants

The Department of Health has sent the health departments of three provinces an instruction from the General Directorate of Public Health that establishes the mandatory use of masks in health and social health centres as a preventive measure in the face of the resurgence of respiratory virus infection.

Valencia says its health services are at the point of collapse due to the surge in Covid and flu cases after Christmas and is having to send patients to [other] hospitals in order to cope.

The wave is expected to peak in the third week of January.

For a fist full of roubles

The wave is already expected to peak in the third week of January and this will then be presented as evidence that masks work.
Crooks, the lot of them.

Coincidental with the seasonality of the Winter respiratory viruses.

The same ‘evidence’ was rolled out to ‘prove’ efficacy of the mRNA jollop which administered in January 2021 had the virus under control by March that year – magic.

This is the problem of not facing the mask issue head on to discredit them.

The general idea that masks may help somewhat and served to control the (non-existent) pandemic remains in the public consciousness.

People in the medical and health industries are allowed to continue claiming masks can help.

That leaves the door wide.open for tyrannical bureaucrats to bring them back when they feel they can justify it.

If we don’t attack masks head on, they will never go away and may still make a major comeback.

Masks work to cause the sun to rise each morning.

Proof – put on a mask at sunset and in the morning the sun rises.
It works every time.

I hope they have also asked that people wear pink socks and some beads around their neck as these are equally good in preventing the evil humours

Any hospital and doctor who still thinks masking can make any positive difference in such matters should be avoided at all costs for medical and survival reasons alone.

Good point. Any hospital or health centre whose policy clearly brushes aside the wealth of health evidence regarding mask efficacy, what other kinds of evidence might they be disregarding when it comes to treatment and prescriptions, and are they operating business-as-usual based on misinformation?

Wherever you are for your hols, it’s just not your day if you end up in hospital or a medical centre. Those are the only two locations affected by the mandate.
In town, restaurants and bars are oblivious to the latest edict, and life continues as normal. Posted from Valencia–23 years here.

When masks were brought in, we predicted they would never go away, but this was dismissed as just another conspiracy theory.

It’s like Socialism – there can be no amount of evidence that shows it fails, no amount of evidence can show the uselessness of face masks in reducing spread of airborne viral infections.

I thought it was only the underfunded British NHS that became overwhelmed by winter illnesses (and these days even without winter illnesses it seems), because of the Evil Tories?

OOPs————So now that people are much more aware than they were back when we all run about with masks on it is going to be interesting to see if authorities get away with that this time should it expand and happen here in the UK…..There may be trouble ahead. If people determined not to have a mask stuck on their face are all over in large numbers, are doctor and dental surgeries and hospitals not going to let us in? And remember shop assistants were told not to stop people with no mask on back then. So if half the supermarket customers have no mask on won’t it simply be the case that those wearing them might just say —F..k it.and throw them away?

I am a retired copper, now a driving instructor. I thank my lucky stars that I retired before these mandates and restrictions came in because my refusal to comply with any of them would have landed me in trouble at work. Some people I worked with and who I thought of as level-headed, sensible, unbullshi££able people, to my utter amazement, swallowed the narrative hook, line and , including my best mate there. They would have gone apoplectic at me walking in maskless. There is also *no doubt* that some of them would have reported me for a disciplinary investigation for not wearing one on the public transport I had to use to get to work. I only wore a mask once and that was when the mask mandate had actually been lifted. I turned up for a driving test with a learner and all the examiners came out wearing masks. They were “politely asking” people to wear masks on tests because one of their colleagues was “vulnerable”. I experienced an internal supernova before I looked at the girl taking her test and knew I couldn’t add any more pressure on her than she was undoubtedly already under. I don’t know… Read more »

The only advantage of wearing a mask when visiting the GP Surgery is to disguise your actual expression when faced with all this lunacy.

I find it quite funny. How the mask wearers put in on their face, with no questions about manufacture and what they’re breathing in, and then put it in their dirty trouser pocket and then put in on their face again and this is supposed to be an infection control measure. Any human being who thinks that probably forfeited their humanity along with their intelligence a while ago because it is impossible to be human and humane if you harbour beliefs like that. Your vessel cannot contain the human spirit.
