Fury at ‘The Sadiq Khan Show’: Millions See ‘The Mayor Presents…’ Message at Start of London’s New Year Fireworks

London’s New Year fireworks have been labelled as an “ego trip” for Mayor Sadiq Khan, with the timing and content of the display – featuring messages on diversity and inclusivity – seen as a political platform ahead of Mr. Khan’s re-election bid in May. The Mail has more.

Just before the bongs of Big Ben sounded midnight, a message saying “The Mayor of London presents…” was written high in the sky before a unity-themed display welcomed the new year with the messaging: “London – A Place for Everyone.”

The celebration, that lasted almost 15 minutes, referenced the King’s Coronation and also used Charles’s quote to mark the 75th anniversary of the Windrush crossing, in which he said the new arrivals “collectively enrich the fabric of our national life”.

There were repeated references to London’s diversity and inclusivity, with Mr. Khan telling the world everyone is welcome in a city where people can be themselves.

But many critics took to social media to complain that the display was packed with political messaging ahead of Mr. Khan’s bid for re-election as Mayor this May.

Among them was author Paul Embery who tweeted:

Another viewer commenting on social media took issue with the ‘Place for Everyone’ title of the display:

Somebody forgot to tell King Jimmy Savile’s Mate The First that the official narrative is now that large numbers of black people have always been here.

As they can only have arrived by boat there is therefore nothing remarkable about the Windrush.

“everyone is welcome in a city where people can be themselves”

That’s open to abuse but that’s probably the intention.

Self aggrandising little twerp. He loves using public funds to jam giant woke turds down everyone’s throat and messages of terror on posters admonishing the natives who don’t fit his target electorate profiles.

Vile excuse for a man.

“I take your money and use it to promote my ideas and myself.” Saddiq Khan.

And every other political “leader”.

Well it’s not specific to London but I can’t believe this was some random ‘boo-boo’ either; ”A new border farce may have mistakenly allowed thousands of foreign nationals to live in Britain, the Mail can reveal. In a startling Home Office bungle, an unknown number of immigrants have been given a passport stamp that appears to grant them the right to live here indefinitely. One of the Home Office’s own legal representatives has described the stamp as being ‘shrouded in mystery’. It came to light after an Albanian failed asylum seeker was given the stamp in his travel documents after being stopped and quizzed at the UK border in 2020. It led to a protracted legal challenge that eventually concluded the man’s claim to remain in the UK was invalid. A Home Office insider said: ‘This stamp could have been used thousands of times. We just don’t know the true figure. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. It’s a total farce. ‘There’s an unknown number of foreign nationals in this country who may be using this stamp to live here indefinitely. ‘Most of them will entirely innocently think the stamp grants them those rights.’ Another border security source… Read more »

I switched off in disgust a few minutes into this display.
Might have been ok with the sound off but the speeches were achingly woke and (apart from KC3) sounded like patois.
I wonder what Noel Coward would have made of it?

Definitely better with the sound turned right down so you couldn’t hear the messaging. All the way through I kept thinking it was a Khan PR exercise with improper use of ULEZ fines. Why the drone dandelion too? Technically impressive, but surely a rose would have been more appropriate.

If we had a real Conservative government they would be at least trying to take on Mr Khan, like the Thatcher government took on Ken Livingstone when he was head of the Greater London Council.

We don’t need a London mayor, so why not abolish the post?

See Khan on Sky News rambling on about the ‘influence’ of mobile phones on crime. He has absolutely no solutions at all.

Still it was sort of progress, he no longer appears to comment on stabbing deaths at all normally
