As the Migrant Crisis Escalates, the German Government Offers Little But Empty Words
On Monday, negotiators from the German federal and state Governments met to hammer out a solution to the migration crisis. The states themselves have been overwhelmed by the flood of refugees, whose numbers exceed all available infrastructure and financial resources. The federal Government – the worst we have had since 1949 – has done very little beyond musing that it might be better at some point to begin deporting those whose asylum applications have been denied. The meeting lasted 17 hours, finally concluding at 3am on Tuesday. The fruit of these efforts was a 17-page agenda item on ‘Refugee Migration: Humanity and Order‘, which underlines what a hopeless political situation we find ourselves in.
Have a taste:
Many people… are coming to Europe and Germany. …
This year… irregular migration from third countries has reached a level that is increasingly increasingly causing problems, particularly in terms of accommodation and integration. Up to September, more than 230,000 new arrivals… have already applied for asylum. The figure for the same period last year was just over 135,000. We can now assume that more than 300,000 people… will apply for asylum in Germany in 2023 as a whole. …
The major increase in irregular migration has significantly increased the challenges for local authorities, federal states and the federal Government. The federal states and local authorities are more and more reaching the limits of what they can afford in terms of reception, accommodation and care. They cannot create additional accommodation indefinitely.
All of this is leading to an overload in many places …
The Federal Chancellor and the heads of the federal states agree that the number of people coming to Germany as refugees must be significantly and sustainably reduced. Clear and targeted measures against uncontrolled immigration that provide quick and effective relief relief and limit the currently excessive influx are therefore needed.
Probably the only meaningful provision in all the words following this preamble is that the federal Government will now provide subsidies to the states of €7,500 per year per asylum applicant. This is nothing to celebrate, and not only because states had asked for more than €10,000. The truth is that nobody cares where the money is coming from; the problem is the migration itself.
In a half-hearted attempt to reduce the attractiveness of Germany to refugees, the agreement proposes delaying their eligibility for social benefits from 18 to 36 months from arrival. It’s unclear this will even be possible, because there’s every chance that the suicidal Federal Court in Karlsruhe (which is responsible for making refugees eligible for benefits in the first place) will find it unconstitutional. Also to make Germany less attractive, the federal Government promises to set up a system whereby refugees will receive ‘benefits in kind’ via payment cards rather than cash. Further on, it promises to “look into” the possibility of processing asylum applications in third states outside the EU. This would massively help, because about half of the new arrivals are denied asylum and then never deported, so I’m glad they’re finally at least thinking about it. Finally, the agreement makes a lot of noise about securing Europe’s outer borders, but to what end is unclear, because all illegal migrants have to do under current EU rules to gain entry is claim asylum. This is why almost all migrants do this. The same goes for the hot air they blow about policing German borders with Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Poland. As Welt explains: “The coalition Government, like its predecessor, has refrained from instructing the federal police to refuse entry to unauthorised arrivals if they claim to be asylum seekers.” In fact almost no self-proclaimed refugee is ever turned away; the police act as a mere welcoming party.
NiUS adds this observation:
What all this is worth can be seen in the protocol declarations at the end of the resolution: Bremen and Thuringia (governed by the SPD and the Left) do not want any switch to benefits in kind [instead of cash] for refugees and have various other reservations, Bavaria and Saxony (governed by the CDU/CSU) are calling for a “fundamental change in migration policy”, and Bremen, Thuringia and Niedersachsen (governed by the SPD and the Left) also reject asylum procedures outside Germany and will only contemplate them if the migrants choose this option voluntarily.
In other words, substantial portions of the Left at the state level remain totally unfazed by the present crisis are still very much full-steam-ahead on vintage 2015 open-borders Merkelism.
How we got started down the path of unmitigated mass migration is clear enough: late-stage liberal universalism fuelled by the absence of international conflict after the Cold War, a sclerotic establishment eager to import pliant political clients and an ageing population worried about impending labour shortages all played their parts. Now that it has gotten out of hand, nobody from Brussels to Berlin can do anything about it, even as their failure to act threatens to destroy them. States really can limit travel and close borders; they did a fine job of both during the pandemic. When it is not an invisible virus they need to stop, but rather millions of foreigners arriving on derelict vessels from the Mediterranean, they are completely powerless.

Stop Press: The German state is gearing up to ban AfD, the populist Right-wing party that campaigns on bringing down immigration and is currently polling second nationally on about 22%. The regional chapter in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt has been classified as ‘extremist’ by Germany’s intelligence agencies, which say their spying operations have uncovered evidence of party figures “demonising” migrants by referring to them as “invaders” and “intruders”. Unsavoury, of course. But banning popular parties because its activists (privately) use such terms smacks of bias and overreach – and suggests the German establishment is determined to put down any criticism of its mass migration policies. Saskia Esken, the leader of Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats, said that AfD would have to be banned in the event that it is classified as extremist at the national level. Some might have thought that opening the borders to the world to create an ongoing unsustainable situation with no realistic plan to curb it is ‘extremist’. But then, that’s a Left wing policy, and everyone knows that only the Right can be extremist…

There’s an important bit missing here: The document claims that deportations often can’t happen because the countries so-called asylum seekers came from would refuse to take them back. The proposed solution is to negotiate more bilateral treaties to enable legal immigration with other countries. It’s claimed this would make them more willing to accept deportations of asylum seekers whose claims were rejected. OTOH, people obviously won’t have to take the asylum route when they can just immigrate legally without it.
Worded in a somewhat loaded way, the solution the German political establishment envisions for the problem of illegal immigration is Legalize it!
Everything coming along nicely for the Davos Deviants. There is no intention in any European country of putting a stop to immigration because it is all part of Agenda 2030.
Oh, and Germany banning political parties? Well they do have form in that regard.
The most-recent SPD-statement I remember was
Transfrauen sind Frauen.
Punkt.
Die SPD-Fraktion im Bundestag.
English
Transwomen are women.
Period.
The SPD-faction in federal parliament.
It’s reportedly not uncommon for people holding such standpoints to seek to cancel those who don’t share them.
Transwomen are women.
Period
Except they don’t. .
🙂
A bit unfortunate to use the word period for transwomen!
Isn’t that exactly what the UN Global Compact on Migration is all about – making illegal migration legal?
Mrs May signed Britain up to this I believe.
Of course the globalist and progressive Left politicians will all enthusiastically go along with the Compact, Haven’t they long wished to dilute the indigenous white, British population to being a minority in their own country?
But the people who are against population replacement don’t have to go along with this – they can vote for centre right challenger parties as the German people have demonstrated with their support of AFD.
Mass legal and illegal immigration takes place because the politicians either want it or they are instructed to allow it.
This doesn’t look as if it will end well. If 22% of the voting public are disenfranchised by having their preferred option removed from the ballot, will they simply suck it up and vote for a second choice? If so, it’s National suicide and an end to democracy when the TPTB decide what parties can stand for election. Totalitarianism springs to mind.
You have to be realistic in England for example there is no appetite amongst the young to address this sort of issue.Western Europe is a very different place to what it was ten years ago and in ten years time it will be far more different. Look at the impossible beauty of Paris between the wars. We cannot return to beauty. Dostoyevsky said that beauty would save the world but we have no one who will save beauty. This country was a sanctuary for Christianity for five hundred years. T S Eliot said that he feared that culture would have to retreat back into the monasteries quite soon. If you care about these things then you are obliged to grasp them without flinching.
What did Gaddafi say – he said that if the collective West destroys Libya then Europe goes black. I lived in Malta for a few months in 2015 and you could get a good measure of what was happening in terms of influx trends. The numbers where overwhelming and they were all diplaced people who couldn’t makle a living elsewhere. The bombing campaigns like in Libya. You might think that you government had good intentions but they really didn’t. Even parliamentary enquiry has found that.
Our intervention in Libya was criminal but of course it had nothing to do with Cameron as he wasn’t in charge.
More here, looking specifically at the similarities between Macron and Scholz. The former, in particular, being at least consistent in how he contradicts himself; ”The French leader typically reacts with diversionary tough immigration rhetoric after terror attacks, riots, and high-profile murders involving migrants, such as the rape and murder of 12-year-old Lola by an Algerian migrant with deportation orders. In fact, after Lola’s death, Macron said during an interview on France 2 television, “I will never make an existential link between immigration and insecurity.” In the same interview, however, he stated that foreigners are responsible for half of all the crime in Paris, saying: “Yes, when we look at delinquency in Paris, we can see that half of the delinquent acts come from foreigners in an irregular situation or awaiting asylum approval.” Macron has no problem contradicting himself directly on the issue of migration in the same interview. Scholz is using a similar strategy because, simply put, it works. As long as you have a mostly friendly media market in your corner, these journalists can sell whatever angle to whatever segment of the public they need to at any given time, and the more contradictions, the more they can package and tailor… Read more »
Scholz is a non-entity. The people who call the shots in the current German government are the Greens and Dilute German blood through mass immigration in order to kill German culture (this is a connection of two slightly reworded quotes) is more-or-less an official project of this party.
I have been aware of this Destroy National Identity culture for some time. —It is easier for the world government people to govern us if we all just feel like citizens of the world rather than citizens of particular Nations. Germany and all other European countries are to be turned from Nations into Regions of the “International Community”
I’m probably a bit more cynical about that: It’s easier for the so-called American left to maintain their dominance of the so-called West if the concept that national identity is unredeemably tainted by inherited guilt (the Christian original sin in disguise once again) and thus, has to be discarded, which (seemingly) worked wonders for maintaining a controlled German cash cow is more universally applied. Turns out the Brits are just Nazis, too, just Colonianiazis and Slavernazis.
This is joined at the hip with the historical fact of so-called white supremacy. In this area, it’s CO₂ to the rescue! All those indigenous cultures which – by and large – never developed beyond stone age were really much better than ours! At least after our forefathers have successfully stopped them from skinning us alive and saved us from living in unheated mudhuts without electricty or running water. That’s the si tacuisses moment of (babyboomer) tourist culture.
Yes maybe you are more cynical but it is hard to find many more cynical than me regarding these anti human and anti western civilisation issues (including the climate scam) than me. And on a lighter note me being from Scotland I can appreciate you point about us all just being Nazi’s. Just look at the way we talk in Scotland. “Das ist ein braw bricht moonlicht nicht die nicht”————-Incase you are not familiar with this Scottish phrase it means —it as a lovely moonlight night tonight
Did the Greens “call the shots” when it was decided to tear down turbines to extend the biggest open cast mine? I think you will find the Greens have lost a huge amount of support and are turning….a different colour.
The mine is close to the dutch border, you can drive very close to it as we did this summer – and it is enormous. Why is it being done? Because the Greens stuffed their fellow citizens along with Merkel post Fukashima, cosied up to Putin which hasn’t gone well and shut down their truly independent source of native energy. Germans we spoke with are not fans of the Greens given the size of their energy bills ( camp site owner told us his bills rose 400% and threatened his family run business – they are hanging on by a thread ).
The Greens are roundly rejected by +85% of the German population. But this means they’ll end up as one of the large parties in any German parliament and thus, will often become part of the ruling coalition. You know you’re living in a democracy when politicans the overwhelming majority of the population doesn’t want to govern have free hand to implement policies harmful to said majority.
As the Greens are 120% clones of the US democrats in every aspect, the obviously haven’t cosied up to Putin in any way, they’re – despite traditionally being a strongly pacifistic party – the most determined Support Ukraine!-hawks in Germany (likely acting under orders from the US mothership). The pro-Putin party is the AfD, presumably, because it’s mainly of East German pedigree and getting shafted by Russia just feels more natural to them than getting shafted by the USA.
We have the same parasite greens in Scotland and it enables the commie SNP to get stuff passed in return for green bribes, eg the SNP wanted to pour concrete in gas wells to appease the phony planet savers and get their progressive legislations through.
The elderly and no one else either worried about the reduction in birth rate causing economic problems. It was the political class who wanted an excuse for mass immigration in order, they discussed among themselves, “to Rob the right’s nose in it”. What they meant was to rub the noses of the lower paid into low wage rates and reduced social standing.
…the federal Government promises to set up a system whereby refugees will receive ‘benefits in kind’ via payment cards rather than cash…
Do I detect the stench of CBDCs and social credit scores arising here? – first the illegals, then the legals, then those on benefits then everyone else……
Obviously. That’s an IT-project some people really want to sell to governments. Given enough time, it’ll likely just turn into another failed government IT-project.
Good point. What a door opener for CBDC’s
Bit of a wake-up call in Germany ( another one ) as Muslims admit they’d rather live under Sharia law than German laws, and how they want to convert Germans to Islam. You can’t deport people who are now citizens so I guess countries have to just deal with the situation they’ve created. It’s so all about conquering Europe and implementing an Islamic State ( 1min );
