The footage of the pro terrorist demo in London shows a small group of people by the Cenotaph, one with an Israeli flag, another with a megaphone shouting “terrorist sympathisers not welcome in the UK”. These guys should by congratulated as recognised as national hero’s. Hopefully more decent citizens like them will have the courage to tell antisemitic terrorist sympathisers what, hopefully, the majority of the population thinks of them.

Quite agree. The pro-Palestine marches are made up of many thousands of people all over the world and presumably this is going to be an ongoing weekly thing. But still they are so triggered that they must rip down posters of the hostages, including many children, still being held captive by Hamas. Does that not just show the character of many of these people? Jews can’t even put up some posters but they get to have massive presence, basically invalidating, othering and dehumanizing the Jewish people, zero humanity, zero compassion but shedloads of callous, hostile behaviour. If that doesn’t say, ”Jews don’t matter, they must be eradicated”, I don’t know what does. Sick people. History repeats.

Trish Wood interviewed Simon Elmer (split over two streams):

https://tntradio.live/shows/on-the-fringe-with-trish-wood/

The interview is mainly about the situation in Gaza, taking a very different view to this publication, and is rather scathing about the October Declaration.

Elmer’s new book (The Great Reset: Biopolitics for Stakeholder Capitalism) is just released: https://architectsforsocialhousing.co.uk/2023/10/24/the-great-reset-biopolitics-for-stakeholder-capitalism/

An introductory article about the book in OffGuardian:

I wouldn’t be able to eat, sleep or function if I were one of these parents. We’ve seen what Hamas are capable of so it’s highly unlikely they’re suddenly going to turn into ”Daddy Daycare”, full of compassion and sympathy for these kids, especially the little ones, for whom 3 weeks of separation from their parents must be doing serious damage psychologically. What do they intend to do with them? ”Taking civilians hostage is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. But taking children hostage in a war is almost never done, said Danielle Gilbert, assistant professor of political science at Northwestern University, who has interviewed hundreds of captors and hostages in different countries. The reasoning is brutal: Abductors see value in live hostages, typically men ages 18 to 65. Children are less likely to survive the ordeal. “Holding onto someone vulnerable and not predisposed to surviving in those conditions will make the kidnappers’ job more difficult,” Gilbert said. “It remains to be seen whether Hamas intended to take this wide a range of hostages.” The families of the Israeli children being held describe lurching along a spectrum of emotions, from hope to despair and anger, with sleep elusive and… Read more »

I would answer that it’s probably because we are still predominantly a so called white country, we got here first. Why not white? Why must we pander to woke DEI targets just because? FFS, we have a Hindu PM, a Muslim Mayor of London and a Muslim First Minister of Scotland!! Plus many others in parliament – like him! He can just FO!

A. Contrarian

I always try to reverse it as a thought experiment – imagine someone white had emigrated to, I don’t know, India or somewhere African or basically anywhere “non-white”, become PM or Mayor or First Minister, and then stood up and made a speech about how many brown or black people there were in said country – far too many, look, everyone surrounding me is black! – and then implemented targets to bring in all their white mates into positions of power. Quite rightly that would be strongly condemned.

Mogwai

Reply to  A. Contrarian

That’s exactly how I look at it too. It’s like somebody white working hard to get into politics in Zimbabwe or Kenya and then whinging about all of the black people in top jobs. But as we all know by now, ‘free speech’, much like racism, is a one-way street.

huxleypiggles

It damn well is racist Mogs. Brown people don’t like white people. The fact that white people made Scotland a wonderful country before the white SNP set about its destruction is lost on the brown people.

Could somebody name ten brown people who were actually born in Scotland who have actually provided anything positive for Scotland and its people in ..oh, let’s say the last seventy years?

Of course since the rightists are now embracing leftist demands for censorship and laws restricting protests, we will see a very quick escalation in restrictions to travel, demands for more security including biometric checks and data storage, facial recognition technology used on protesters etc.

Will these people be happy because it’s in lieu of THEIR particular political hang ups?

We saw what happened after the reaction to 9/11 (also an inside let it happen job), this is just going to get accelerated.

What better way to take away more of our freedoms?

So pathetically predictable from people that should know better than to scream about hate speech and language that will incite hate.

The question I keep asking myself is – what’s the ratio of deaths on one side compared to the other that has to occur before calls for peace are considered acceptable – 10:1, 100:1, 1000:1? And does that death count include or exclude aid workers, Christians, reporters, Jews and other faiths, secularists, hostages, etc caught in the crossfire, or only one brand of the Abrahamic religions, the other losses being acceptable collateral damage? Or does one side simply have carte blanche because, war now really is peace? Clarification on this point would be helpful.

There seems little appetite amongst mainstream commentators for peace, perhaps because it’s hard to imagine more than brief periods of calm in today’s world. When Israel was formed it’s leaders, such as Ben Gurion, knew they would always be in conflict with their Arab neighbours but perhaps they didn’t realise how difficult the threat would grow over time. Perhaps they believed with strong defences and regular punitive actions the Israeli nation would establish itself – with Western backing – as a force not to be messed with. It seems a lot of commentators believe Israel can “take out Hamas” – never mind the collateral damage – and settle down to a period of quiet. I think they are deluded, like the hope that taking out Osama bin Laden would reduce islamic terrorism or the idea many have that taking out Putin would solve the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

One recent account from Southern Israel on Oct 7th: the husband murdered, the wife gang raped by Gazan residents (not Hamas) whilst the baby was burned – alive – in their oven.
Meanwhile, here in the UK, Stella Braverman orders a ‘review’ to check the law and the police’s powers of arrest.

I’m going to keep asking this question because I don’t think a lot of people have properly thought through their answer: what is it, exactly, that you are supporting in the Israel/Palestine conflict?

I understand all the pro-Palestine arguments. I do not believe for one second that Israel had no prior knowledge of the attacks. I think the US, yet, again, has its sticky fingers all over it. I think that the Palestinians have been subject to war crimes by Israel for many years. And yet. Palestine is the single most important area of holy land in the world. What will happen if Arabs think they have finally achieved what they are destined for? Nothing good. We got a taste of what many of these people see as infidels. I’m not embarrassed to say that this conflict has me all over the place, but the more MSM supports Palestine the more I question. When you’re in agreement with the BBC then you have to wonder what it is you’ve got wrong.

It’s about division and distraction. Some MSM are questioning Israel because it’s so in your face destructive, some are waving Israeli flags and calling all Gaza Hamas etc.

Since this issue splits Left and Right it’s a perfect divider and emotional primer.

After Ukraine began to fail, Netenyahoo or whomever runs Israeli deep state was given the green light to ignore security warnings and stand down the defence forces for 7 hours.

While I agree with what a lot of what you’ve written, with all due respect you have not answered Free Lemming’s question – what are you supporting, exactly?

I am not sure what I am supporting, other than wishing that both sides would stop killing each other, but that’s not really supporting anything in particular for the long term. In the short term I suppose that is supporting the status quo, which a lot of people here certainly don’t – a lot here seem to want Israel as a majority-Jewish homeland to disappear and be replaced with something else.

Ceasefire, discussions, prisoner/hostage swap….

Patently you think that one set are ‘good’ and one ‘bad’..I think it’s much more complex…

..though I’m pretty shocked by the callousness of a lot of people in not separating civilians out of this mess…and not even seeming to care….
…but that’s how propaganda works..you look at the others, and you don’t see human beings….you just see animals…

as I said it’s ironic that that is happening with Israel and their supporters….they should know better?

Genocide coming full circle……

MichaelM

Reply to  ebygum

I think your personal comments are totally out of order. I obviously don’t see civilians as animals at all and I’m not at all clear what you mean by “genocide coming full circle”, but it sounds like a pretty disgusting thought. I obviously feel sorry for all civilians on both sides, but don’t feel a need (absent accusation to the contrary) to state the obvious or to virtue signal.

We should all accept, I hope, that Israel cannot live in security and peace unless and until Hamas is eliminated. It is also beyond doubt that Hamas uses Gaza civilians as human shields to protect themselves and their military architecture (rocket launchers, etc). What should Israel do in this situation? They could ask / warn / instruct civilians to move out of their homes to enable the Israeli forces to carry out their operations? That sounds reasonable and justifiable in the circumstances.

Unlike Hamas, Israel would love to avoid civilian casualties (for humanitarian and other reasons) and does not target civilians.

The winners will be the most numerous and/or most hard-headed (and with the best weapons). At the moment the Shias of Iran look the most likely unless the West takes out their nuclear capacity. I can see no pain-free solutions or indeed long-lasting solutions that don’t involve suppression and/or anihilation of some groups of people. The problem us armchair commentators have is we don’t like being confronted by deaths of innocent people and hate to think about the tough decisions needed. Whatever way the military industrial complex thrives in some form or other. Sorry to be so pessimistic but I think if we were all more realistic our divisions would be diminished.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/unable-to-return-to-gaza-hundreds-of-laborers-detained-by-idf-in-the-west-bank/

Israel has been holding an unknown number of Gazan laborers in West Bank military facilities since October 7, after Hamas stormed 22 southern border towns and communities and massacred over 1,400 Israelis.

Trade unions, officials and humanitarian organisations have raised concerns for their safety after reports Palestinians with permission to work in Israel were rounded up, arrested and blindfolded before being taken to military camps

The Gazans, whose work permits have meanwhile been revoked, are mostly being detained at the Anatot base northeast of Jerusalem, according to an army spokesperson, who added that they cannot be returned to Gaza for the time being.
Their numbers are estimated to be in the hundreds, with Channel 12 claiming there may be as many as 4,000.

Presumably this isn’t kidnapping….?

”Since October 7, more than 3,257 children have been reported killed, including at least 3,195 in Gaza, 33 in the West Bank, and 29 in Israel, according to the Ministries of Health in Gaza and Israel respectively.”

You are aware that the Ministry of Health in Gaza is ran by Hamas and all information coming out of Gaza is controlled by Hamas? Please check your bias and find a better, more reliable source of information because I shouldn’t have to state that nothing coming out of Gaza can be trusted as accurate or truth.

  • ”Save the Children is an independent, impartial organisation. With the ongoing complete siege of Gaza, journalists and international organisations are not able to get access to Gaza to verify independently and provide updated data on the impact of ongoing bombardment on the civilian population. Save the Children, in line with OCHA updates, is currently relying on data from the Israeli Ministry of Health for casualties in Israel and from the Gaza Ministry of Health for casualties inside Gaza. Due to the current situation, information and numbers provided by both ministries cannot be verified independently.”

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/despite-bidens-doubts-humanitarian-agencies-consider-gaza-toll-reliable-2023-10-27/

U.N. and other international agencies say there can be small discrepancies between the final casualty numbers and those reported by the Gaza health ministry straight after attacks, but that they broadly trust them.
We continue to include their data in our reporting and it is clearly sourced,” the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in a statement to Reuters.
New York-based Human Rights Watch also says the casualty figures have generally been reliable, and that it has not found big discrepancies in its verification of past strikes on Gaza.

….as I pointed out earlier ….. there are no babies (yet) in the official numbers of Israeli’s killed on Oct 7th..that would seem to indicate Israel can’t be trusted either?

Thank you – I was rather hoping that he would enjoy the next 3 years flourishing at the prestigious LCC photography degree course that he just started (he’s very talented); but he’s just left as he couldn’t stomach the woke culture at the college and indeed woke content of the course. Apparently first assignment was to write an essay on the importance of Critical Race Theory and Gender Identity politics to photography today, and it was made clear that you couldn’t criticise the value that they bring to the table. When he made his thoughts about this clear it set off a chain reaction of abuse from other students, even death threats from anonymous accounts and he’s just had enough. So he’s currently looking for work in the Big Smoke. As a Dad, I’m a bit anxious and somewhat depressed by it all, no matter how noble his principles are 🙁

Also I think showing strength of character and the ability to stand up for what you believe is right without too much concern for the consequences is worth a million times more than a degree.

This is absolutely dreadful …. but this story is being used for a different propaganda all over the internet..which I would imagine can only cause more grief to her parents… https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-67260093 The mother of Shani Louk, an Israeli-German woman thought to have been kidnapped by Hamas fighters at a music festival in Israel, says her daughter is dead. Speaking to German media, Ricarda Louk said she had been told by the Israeli military that a DNA sample taken from part of a skull bone proved to be Shani’s.  Her body has not yet been found.  Shani’s sister also confirmed the death on social media.  Adi Louk wrote on Instagram on Monday that Shani had been killed in the “massacre at Re’im” – a reference to the attack staged by Hamas in southern Israel, near the Gaza Strip, on 7 October. But it was not clear from the reports where or when the fragment of her skull had been found. Soon after the attack, a video began circulating widely on social media, showing the body of a young woman being paraded through the streets in the back of a flatbed truck, surrounded by armed fighters and others yelling “Allahu Akbar” (God… Read more »
