Trump Praises Sunak for Taking on “Climate Alarmists” and Scaling Back Net Zero Commitments
Donald Trump has backed Rishi Sunak over his decision to scale back Net Zero commitments, congratulating the Prime Minister for being “smart” in taking on “climate alarmists”, as the issue is set to be a major battleground in the forthcoming elections. The Telegraph has more.
Mr. Sunak delayed a series of flagship environmental policies, warning voters would revolt against the cost of making the U.K. a Net Zero carbon emitter by 2050.
The Prime Minister drew criticism from within his own party when he delayed measures including a ban on new petrol car sales from 2030 to 2035.
Mr. Trump has weighed in behind the Prime Minister, saying Mr. Sunak had “very substantially rolled back the ridiculous ‘Climate Mandates’ that the United States is pushing on everyone”.
The former U.S. President said on his social media platform: “I always knew Sunak was smart, that he wasn’t going to destroy and bankrupt his nation for fake climate alarmists that don’t have a clue.”
Mr. Trump, who is running for the White House in 2024, criticised the Biden administration for “merrily” spending “trillions of dollars trying to do that which is not doable”.
He added: “Congratulations to Prime Minister Sunak for recognising this SCAM before it was too late!
“The Green New Hoax will take down the U.S., perhaps even sooner than our Open Border of Death. IT MUST BE STOPPED. MAGA!!!”

Stop Press: Young Americans strongly prefer Donald Trump to Joe Biden in the 2024 election, a poll has found. The Telegraph reports that in the latest poll by the Washington Post and ABC News, Trump leads Biden among voters under the age of 35 by 20 points, with 53% and 38% respectively. Seems a classic case of cancel culture backfiring, with all the attacks on Trump only making him stronger.

Fishy scaling back on net zero? Hardly. He is fiddling at the edges. How on earth can major industries such as automotive make realistic plans given that all current government activities suggest they won’t exist in 10 years?
As usual Fishy is duckin and divin; smoke and mirrors. It’s not even as if he is in control so whatever he’s doing will simply be his latest orders.
Thanks to Donald for trying to install a backbone in the slimy one but it just won’t work.
If you look at typical car model changes and their production period, it appears that they mainly do a significant change every 8 – 10 years, with a half way through update, so they probably plan for things to be obsolete every decade or so. Sometimes they are purely commercial, sometimes due to changes in international standards to which they have to comply. If they have to cut short, it’ll affect their balance sheet quite a lot. Not only that, some could just drop out of the market; perhaps thats the plan for certain extremists.
No doubt there will be a lot of negotiation with the main players, followed by selective presentations to the general public. That’s marketing and electioneering.
Car manufacturers have still got to be selling 80% electric by 2030. Massive shortage of petrol cars by then, and prices through the roof (by design). Sunak is just pretending. Anybody would think there was an election on the way. I can’t keep lending my vote to this bunch of pretenders. I want to see them totally destroyed and then just maybe we could get something new come out of the ashes.
The Dems and the Deep State in the USA will not allow Trump to win the next Presidential Election. If it looks like he is “unstoppable” (even with voter fraud), my theory is that they will trigger a financial collapse and institute a State of Emergency in order to avoid an election.
Then get ready for a second civil war.
There was never a first one. The South seceded. There were briefly two countries. Lincoln decided that he didn’t like that and the two countries had a regular war that the South lost.
A civil war now would be very ugly and along Yugoslavia war lines.
Doubt it will happen though. As far as I’m aware there hasn’t been a single incident of liberty minded folk using their guns against the left. And this in a country with “more guns than people (TM)”. That being said, never underestimate the left’s ability to push the envelope.
More likely the Republican governors of red states will become more bellicose and attempt to get back power from the Federation.
With a strong conservative majority on the Supreme Court, the next few years could be very important in setting down legal precedents for the future, as we have seen already with Roe v Wade, for example. This is one of the few positives that may come out of these fractious times.
Not quite. The south seceded, the northern States said that that was not legally permitted by the US Constitution. A situation not unlike the recent one with the Catalonia region in Spain where the federal government claims that secession is not possible. So legally speaking the south never actually separated.
Well I would argue that the timelines and the degree of integration are/were quite different.
I don’t think the 13 Colonies seceding was legal under the British Constitution – Treason in fact.
The first civil war was the so-called War of Independence which was fought within a culturally and economically homogenous Body Politic over control of government – thereby meeting the criteria for a civil war.
The War of the States was de facto an international war, being fought between two culturally and economically distinct Body Politics – the agrarian South v industrialised North, to preserve governmental autonomy of the South.
Nonsense. He’ll have an accident or be killed by a right-wing nutjob who won’t survive to see a court.
Definitely a possibility – for both Trump and RFK Jr …
Go on… cheer us up.
Many of us would praise Sunak for fighting climate alarmists if that was what he was actually doing.
Trump never was a details guy.
KnickyKnacky the billionaire is doing nothing against Net zero (pushing out some dates by 5 years which may be illegal). About as useful as the Convict’s policy on open borders (we plan to have a plan to plan to something circa 2100).
I am a Trump fan, but my observation is Americans are clueless when it comes to reading British politics.
Sunak hasn’t rowed back. He understands he can’t win an election with he current policy, so has done the absolute minimum he can to slow things up.
As a card carrying globalist he’ll be back at again if/when he’s reelected.
Odd times. As the US on board the last train to Climagheddon is vital to the Climate Change Green Industrial Complex, Trump being re-elected in 2024 may be the best hope to save us before we run out of track and plummet into the abyss.
Funny old World.
