Illegal Immigrants Must Get at Least Three-Star Hotels, Says Home Office Contract

The Home Office is forcing some contractors to book hotels of “at least a minimum of three stars” to house small-boat migrants after costs soared to £8 million a day. The Telegraph has the story.

Suella Braverman, the Home Secretary, said she is “very concerned about hotels” and called their use “unacceptable”, telling Parliament this week: “It is totally unacceptable that too many towns and cities around the country now house the 45,000 asylum seekers who are in hotels… it is not right that the British taxpayer is forking out the cost.”

The most recent contract issued by Ms. Braverman’s department, seen by the Telegraph, lists “mandatory requirements” for all hotels booked, stating: “The location of the accommodation will be carried out at locations close to amenities and transport networks. Contracted venues should be at least a minimum of three stars.”

The Home Office has not disclosed how many hotels have been booked under the contract, which began in February, and said it was also using a separate agreement that had no star requirement.

Ms. Braverman has not disclosed the specifications during numerous debates on the issue in the House of Commons, where MPs have challenged the use of hotels in towns and seaside resorts.

Conservative grandee Sir John Hayes said small-boat migrants should “expect a much more basic level of provision” than three-, four- or five-star hotels.

“My constituents wouldn’t expect any illegal immigrant to be housed in a place they couldn’t afford to stay in themselves,” he added.

“We need to provide safe and clean accommodation but it should be basic – three-star is well above the level taxpayers would expect to be funding. In truth, we’ve got to move these people out of hotels altogether.”

Get a grip, guys. They’re running rings round you.

What we can’t see is the Blob that Braverman is fighting.
NGOs, civil servants, lawyers, MSM, ECHR, corporates demanding massed cheap labour and the 5th column of leftist Tories.
Because of Blair, so much of government has been subcontracted as to make it powerless.
Of course, leaving ECHR would change everything.

While Blair made huge changes in the direction you complain about, recall the Conservative Party has provided the PM since 2010 and has had a large HoC majority for some time.

where is the evidence of them opposing Blair and Brown or reversing things in the past 13 years. No evidence. It has got worse. We must accept the evidence that the Tories are the problem, not a solution.

ECHR is not the problem. ECtHR is the problem plus ignoring the bits exempting stuff done for national security etc.

We all need the protections of basic human rights from our own government.

Don’t chuck the baby with the bathwater.

Just fix the bits which are broken.

And we can of course ignore the ECtHR as the UK has done for many a year over voting rights for the incarcerated – prisoners have no vote even though the ECtHR says they must.

Approx 50% of migrants without documents who state they’re minors actually end up being adults in reality. No wonder I see endless videos online of them chucking their passports etc overboard. But the ridiculous Home Office is relying on some Gillette shaving test to guess their age rather than just use a way more accurate dental or X-ray check. Here’s Patrick Christy to explain;

I’m not sure how accurate this translation from French into English is but the guy is basically confirming what we already know; that these migrants are not fleeing war but are invading for economic reasons.

I have lost count in the past few weeks of hearing people saying the following, has anyone else experienced this too? My latest was the lady behind a counter in a sweet shop today.

“I am glad I am in the last part of my life, what is going on in the world is madness, I worry for my grandchildren having to live in such a place”.
The lady in question was unaware that Gas boilers were being phased out until she heard a debate on the radio (I do despair, but if your source of information is the BBC/itv what can you expect?) still she is clearly now aware and concerned.

Living in Bizarro World
The point of Bizarro World is to make the real world appear so chaotic, so dangerous, so uninhabitable, that we will happily give ourselves over to the Technocrats who promise to make it all better.

THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE WHICH HAS A RESONANCE REGARDING THE PURPOSE OF AND THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND THE WAY OUR SOCIAL VALUES AND STRUCTURES ARE BEING BROKEN DOWN WITH WOKISM, GENDER ID, LGBTQI+++ ETC.

Among the Afro-Caribbeans with whom I’m acquainted, the ladies, all of different ages and backgrounds, are completely against the UK accommodating any of these small-boat migrants. One lady in her fifties and originally from Jamaica, has been known to declare, ‘This country is full!’

Looking on the bright side, it might mean that there are still some cheap and cheerful places for ordinary people at some resorts! There could be some places where the Home Office doesn’t want to accommodate them. And watch the news about a Lincolnshire Council’s decision against the HO – might not be on the usual places but GBN had the story this evening.

Presumably, any owner of a 2 or 1 star hotel should pack in business straight away as their places are so squalid that they’re unfit to house desperate people fleeing such horrendous oppression that they were forced to leave the females in their family back home…

Errr.. ….

What a bloody stupid thing to say. Who the hell else is going to pay?

I guess she could be complaining that the cost per asylum claimant is too high. There’s 45,000 of them – just bloody build something; basic bed, washing facilities, food, 5 channels of broadcast entertainment/news TV while their claim is processed. CCTV to make sure they don’t abuse/kill each other – or catch them if they do. Allow phone calls home to say how crap it is here. Take DNA samples and fingerprints. If they wander off don’t worry until or unless they turn up in the criminal justice system – in which case deport them. DNA analysis should give a big clue about where they’re from.

How about sending the phuqers back, or better still dropping them in the middle of the channel without life jackets or boats.

Soldiers are supposed to live in barracks. They should certainly be appropriate to house illegal immigrants as well.

This rather depressing read does basically explain why Meloni is full of sh*t and we in mainland Europe are fooked. ”Conservatives have been rallying around the idea of a naval blockade to defend Europe’s borders for years, but while the idea sounds great to many, few promoting such a blockade have ever described how it would look like in practice. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni gained traction for promoting the idea during her campaign for prime minister, and her supporters cheered her right into office. A naval blockade, after all, sounds like a muscular response to a crisis that has long plagued Europe. France, Italy, and Germany do, after all, would have a formidable navy if they were to combine their forces. These same ships could be repurposed to protect Europe’s people from a deluge of migrants from the south. However, Meloni herself was always short on details, simply calling for a “naval blockade,” and this may have been by design. The reality is that based on current laws, the EU would not be able to enforce a naval blockade, nor does it want to. Maritime law dictates that the EU or Italy cannot enter within 12 miles of the… Read more »

The naval blockade idea is just silly. It’s possible to physically block a road or even some strip of the countryside but not an area of the sea, especially not against boats which are much smaller than typical warships, which will have serious trouble detecting the small boats at all. Naval blockades work by threatening the use of lethal force against blockade runners and being prepared to actually use it. The Italians could deploy patrol boats with machine guns in order to take out boats filled with would-be immigrants. The only other option would be to put marines into boats to take them out in close combat. A somewhat more realistic idea would be to use machine guns for coastal defense against boat landings. The only thing which would probably really work is to send an ultimatum to the Tunesian government demanding that it stops the boats from leaving and if this hasn’t happened after some time is past, invade Tunesia to occupy to coast in question and enforce it by use of violence.

Needless to say, not even the most right-wing extremist (whatever) party seeking to win elections in present-day Europe would ever contemplate doing any of this.

It’s impossible to defend a border without actually defending it. These people (in the boats) are criminals planning to break the law for their own benefit. They ought to be treated as such.

I’ve subscribed. I used to give a fair bit of money to charity every month but since almost all of them failed to stand up for the vulnerable people they were supposed to be helping during lockdowns, I have cancelled most of my donations so I have some spare money to support organisations like DS, the FSU, TCW who are trying to make the world a better place.

Why don’t they just send civil servants round to laugh in the face of every homeless person living in a squalid hotel room?

Awesome. Great news.

I’m learning Albanian and selling up and off to France, chucking my ID docs in the drink and getting the first fast rubber boat back to Blighty waving my ‘Here I am Border Force’ banner to catch a ride in comfort – all of course with Albanian subtitles for added authenticity.

Who signs the cheque at unforecasted and not budgeted £8M per day? If the Home Secretary is so concerned, stop it. Just another headline to wind up the tax payer whilst the gravy boat rolls on.

How Un-Altruistic!! I’m Truly struggling to Understand Why They Don’t Turn the houses of parliament into an Illegal Immigration Centre? It’s Large, Lots of room, River View, Uber Eats, London Central, Public Services & on the square & a close by Westminster Church! & a lot of useless politicians who could act as servants for comfort.
