The King Is Criticised for Making Four Ministers Fly 400 Miles to His Scottish Mansion on Taxpayers’ Dime to Discuss Carbon Emissions

The King is being accused of environmental hypocrisy and wasting taxpayer money for flying in ministers to his Scottish mansion… to discuss climate change. The Mail has the story.

The King was facing criticism last night for forcing four Cabinet Ministers – including the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt – to fly 400 miles to his private mansion in Scotland for a taxpayer-funded meeting.

He was accused of an “outrageous waste of money” and climate hypocrisy because the meeting was held partly to formally appoint the new Net Zero Minister in charge of cutting carbon emissions.

Mr. Hunt, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, Privy Council President Penny Mordaunt and Energy and Net Zero Secretary Claire Coutinho all flew on the same plane to Ayrshire for the Privy Council meeting on Friday at taxpayers’ expense. …

Former Lib Dem MP Norman Baker, himself a Privy Council member, said the King’s decision to host a meeting of the council in Scotland “drives a coach and horses through any claim he has to be interested in the environment”, adding: “This is an outrageous waste of money by King Charles.”

Worth reading in full.

Stop Press: Meanwhile, Princes William and Harry are competing for the prize of who can be the most credulous promoter of ‘climate emergency’ gobbledegook. The Mail has more.

This kind of thing is extremely dangerous for the monarchy.

Not a good look, particularly right now; all a bit ‘Marie Antoinette’.

You are entitled to your opinion. It is not one that I share.

‘…in Feb. 1976, Charles was given command of the coastal minehunter HMS Bronington for nine months. Later that year, using his £7,400 severance pay from the navy, Charles established the Prince’s Trust,
a charitable organization dedicated to funding community initiatives that support disadvantaged youth.’

That may be so, but his chief obsession is trying to convince us that 0.00001% of a trace gas plant food that keeps everything on this planet alive is our greatest threat and that everyone apart from him and his super-rich mates needs to go back to being 17th century commoners to stop that threat. And this makes him a corrupt, hypocritical, WEF arse kissing globalist king of Bullshit Mountain I’m afraid.

Command is out of touch with the reality of everyday life. Military command does not confer either wisdom or any great understanding of anything other than military matters. From all I have seen in the Army it does not require any great intellect either.

It is entirely the other way around.

Wisdom confers advantage to military command.

Intellect often obtains wisdom through experience.

The military is simply another profession.

As we have seen, there is a great shortage of wisdom at the highest level in many, if not most, professions.

Why?

That would be politics!

I spent 12 years in the Royal Engineers and found fewer than a handful of officers whom I would follow out of respect for their abilities and not just to see what they are going to eff-up next. ‘Intellect OFTEN obtains wisdom through experience’; but not always and the people that we get in the Army are seldom top notch intellects. I won’t waste time going over the rest of the errors other than to point out the amazing results we got from having such wise command during the early days of the world wars, and which needed a great change to winnow out the less than wise ones.

Sweeping generalisations are rarely helpful.

The history of the British Army will never forget the brilliant Generalship of Alanbrooke, Alexander and Montgomery in France 1940.

Withdrawal in contact is the most difficult of all military operations.

Alanbrooke went on to devise the land strategy that created favourable conditions for the Normandy landings, another phenomenally difficult undertaking.

All command has been given, at least since Cardwell, in the military, on merit; very much not a sinecure.

The King’s then command was no different. Neither was the rifting that he got for one particular maladroitness.

The Ministers were forced – what objections have they raised?

There’s also the additional financial and environmental cost of getting to and from an airstrip.

“A few hours later he appeared to have flown to Doncaster racecourse, 230 miles away.”

You’re correct, it was pro-Net Zero politicians on the flight off to visit their equally low-CO2 associate. A plane full of plebs going on holiday would have the environmental cost.

Being a resident of Gloucestershire, I am looking forward to the news the the King at Highgrove, and the Princess Royal, at Gatcombe Park, have converted their country piles to ASHP heating, and are enjoying the benefits. Meanwhile, will they please stop using their helicopters so much and disturbing their close neighbours.
F****g hypocrites.

I think somebody needs to point out to the King, that net-zero means the entire world is going to have give up cars, planes, and any sort of energy. Electric cars, solar panels and wind turbines are not zero carbon, as you have to mine the elements and build the stuff, and then dispose of it or recycle it when its life is finished. Of course you could offset, but the only way I know is planting tree, but this should be a last resort according to the WWF:-

The outrage is that the government is appointing a Net Zero minister.

The British public have basically two choices when it comes to our glorious democracy which is the envy of the world. You can have the Conservatives who are for Net Zero or you can have Labour who are also for Net Zero.

Which do you want?

Anyone voting for an establishment party in 2024 is a menace to society. They are conspiring with the establishment parties to impoverish us all. There are options. There are centre right challenger parties whose policy it is to abandon Net Zero and most voters will have the opportunity to vote for them. Spoiling you ballot paper is a vote against the prevailing tyranny for those unfortunate enough not to have a centre right challenger party on the ballot paper.

Like he gives a crap!! LOL…..

Please name me a politician, luvvie or greenie that isn’t exactly the same…it’s not exactly news to us is it…?

WE are the carbon they want to reduce..it’s very obvious. There is the day coming soon when we will each have a ‘carbon credit score’….we see it everywhere on products now….and the ‘new digital’ anything they bring out will be equipped for it…..and I suspect it will be even worse than stopping us having external things like cars and planes..it will be us, physically..what we eat, how much, and what…
..eat Bills fake shit meat…have a carbon credit??

This will be turned against us quite quickly I fear…..

I’m puzzled by the word ‘making’ in the headline.
In what way did the King compell these minsters to visit him? Were they not free to tell him to tell him to go boil his head?

I can’t understand why Charles does not follow the example of Bill Gates and cut all the trees down on all his estates. If they catch fire because of climate change then huge amounts of CO2 will be released. He could insist that William does the same on his land, and why not cut the trees down in all the Royal Parks while he is at it. In fact just cut all trees down, we know it makes sense.
