“Gladstone, the BBC and the contempt for national history” – A BBC news story this week about members of the Gladstone family visiting Guyana to apologise for their ancestral links to slavery in the Caribbean has all the historical errors and elisions we have become used to in reports and investigations on the subject of slavery, says Lawrence Goldman in the Spectator. Yes. I seem to remember a BBC story about how a judge of the globalist United Nations had decided that a sum of 18 trillion pounds that Britain has to pay for historical slavery is “almost certainly an underestimation”. Now I wonder if anything may be owed to Britain for the enslavement of English people in North Africa on the Barbary coast (who my ancestor Sir Cloudesley Shovell helped redeem)? Or for Britain’s role in trying to stamp out slavery? Or for the destruction caused by Germany in two world wars? Or for the many ways in which Britain has benefitted the world? One thing is for sure – don’t ask the BBC. Incidentally, the conditions endured by many people in 19th century Britain were, with some justification, described as “white slavery”. Are their descendants to be asked to… Read more »

There are two aspects of this whole slavery/white privilege debate that never seem to get an airing. The first is the belief that all white people benefitted from slavery. This is a complete fallacy. Its almost as if they think every white man in England had his own slave, and worked him to death. Well, while the slaves on the sugar plantations might have gone through a horrible experience, my ancestors were working dawn to dusk in the fields, or the mills, or the iron works, or down a hole in the ground picking coal. I can’t see a huge difference in their lives. Slaves in sugar plantations had an average life expectancy of 27 in 1800. In northern mill towns it was 21. Throughout the 19th century this gradually improved, but not without the sacrifice of many generations. What privilege I have is bought and paid for. You want privilege like mine.? Go and earn it for your descendants. The second aspect that is being forgotten is that international capital has, since days of empire conspired to keep Africa from developing economically. The World Bank, IMF, and the big cash funds like Blackrock being the worst culprits from the… Read more »

Shed-loads written in history about non-white slave traders, and this despicable racist woman needs to get the bloody sack for her ignorant hate-speech! ”More to the point, we have multiple examples of what non-whites did after landing on the shores of whites — and centuries before the transatlantic slave trade began. In 711, for example, hordes of African Muslims (“Moors,” which came to mean dark-skinned or black Muslims) “godlessly invaded Spain to destroy it,” to quote from the Chronicle of 754.  They did not pass “a place without reducing it, and getting possession of its wealth,” boasted al-Hakam, an early Muslim chronicler, “for Allah Almighty had struck with terror the hearts of the infidels.” One year later, the Muslims had, the Chronicle of 754 continues, “ruined beautiful cities, burning them with fire; condemned lords and powerful men to the cross; and butchered youths and infants with the sword.” Several other early sources corroborate the devastation and persecution. The oldest account, the Tempore belli, tells of Muslims from Africa “sacking Christian temples [churches] and homes, burning the cities of those who resisted, and taking their young women as sexual slaves, all creating an indescribable terror.” In 715, after the Muslim conquest of Spain was complete, its generals made… Read more »

II have 18th and 19th century ancestors from the lead mining community of Nenthead, the highest village in England, where conditions were so severe that many people died too young and poor to afford headstones for their graves. The church grounds in the picture are full of graves, but only a very small number of headstones. Take a good look – there is your “white privilege”.

I am not convinced private business has conspired to do that in Africa.

sending left wing economists and political theorists there at the time of independence did not help but I expect they intentionally arranged for socialism and one party states to evolve as that was their preference.

since then UK aid has financed dictator presidents and their entourage. It has not demanded in exchange the conditions which facilitate growth: access to fair justice, free markets and property rights. All the rest followed.

I know I will probably get crucified on here for this, but the whole thing about offshore wind killing whales (before the turbines are even built!) is a gross exaggeration at best, if there is even any truth to it at all. Big Oil sycophantic lackeys who pretend to care about wildlife are just as disingenuous, hypocritical, and pharisaical as “pro-lifers” who pretend to care about babies (UNTIL they are born, that is).

Wow, I just slaughtered so many sacred cows in one paragraph, I’m ready to have a barbecue!

You’re entitled to your views of course. For me, with energy policy as with other things, the thing I most object to is extra costs being heaped on those least able to afford it (by doling out tax payers’ money to the likes of Tim Yeo) without so much as a by your leave, and I would have more respect for politicians who took the concerns of groups such as the Tax Payers’ Alliance seriously. For the record, I recall at a peaceful pro-life prayer vigil I attended (now banned by our “tolerant” government), a mother (not “birth parent” by your leave 😉 ) approached our group and said she’d just run out of [the abortuary], and couldn’t go through with it. We offered her encouragement and support, and one of our people offered her some baby clothes and said she’d keep in touch with her. The mother was overwhelmed by the love and support she felt from our group, and for us it was a very happy and emotional moment. I must say I’d love to meet one of these pro-lifers (or indeed anti-lifers) who don’t care about babies. For me, of all the modern pathologies, I find the… Read more »

Michael Freeman is a full-on supporter of wind turbines and other sources of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels. He has also bought into the whole climare catastrophe myth, so he is far from impartial on the subject of offshore windfarms. Time will tell whether or not whale behaviour is being adversely affected by sonar surveys. The problem is, as we’ve discovered over the past 3 and a half years, any adverse data that goes against the required narrative tends to be surpressed.

I tend to agree that trying to make a case to stop the lunacy of Carbon Reduction and Nett Zero based on a handful of dead whales is misguided. People who believe this eco-nonsenses are prepared to sacrifice 5 or 6 billion people to this end (not them, obviously), so a few whales are just necessary collateral damage.

The whole house of cards is built on the premise of CO2 being a gas that holds the balance to our entire climate, and that by ‘adjusting’ it we can change that climate from what it is today, to some earlier arbitrary and more desirable figure. This the core premise sold by the Idiotocracy to justify their actions in driving us to an authoritarian one world government. Once you have thought about that core concept, and realised that it is nonsense, then the rest comes into clear focus.

Tragically another piece of evidence ( 2min ) which does not support my hypothesis and which demonstrates the new ‘Transhausen syndrome by proxy’ craze applies to both parents as here’s dad along with mam encouraging the abuse of their young child;

”Doctors place Puberty Suppressing Implant inside 6th grade girls arm while she cries in fear.

The implant “stops female puberty and keeps Jack from growing breasts” according to the reporter.

Her parents cheer the abuse on, surrounded by cameras.”

What is it about West Yorks police?? Can you believe this woman got a 30min police visit because she took a photo of a sticker?? 😮

”A senior woman in the United Kingdom was visited by police after being caught taking a photograph of a sticker critical of gender ideology. Eve, whose identity is being protected at her request, was questioned at her home for over 30 minutes by officers of the West Yorkshire Police.
Speaking to Reduxx, Eve explained that the ordeal began in March after she spotted a sticker she thought was interesting while on a walk. The small sticker, which read “Keep Males Out Of Women-Only Spaces” had been placed on top of a large trans pride poster outside of Happy Valley Pride, a Hebden Bridge pride organization. Finding it interesting, Eve says she snapped a photo before continuing on her walk.
Four weeks later, on April 30, Eve says West Yorkshire Police showed up at her home to question her on the photo she had taken.”

Civil servants can use male or female security passes and can change gender daily” – ‘Nonbinary’ staff in the Home Office are given male and female security passes allowing them to change their gender identity day by day, according to the Telegraph.

So, does the security pass system ensure that only one is used at any one time?

If they change identity during the day do their colleagues have to guess which pronouns to use based on what they happen to be wearing at the time or do they have to ask each time or examine the security pass they’re wearing? What about if they change identity in a meeting, how is that minuted?

Utter BS.

On that basis I definitely think that schizophrenics should be able to get a different pass for each of the personalities that dominates on any given day. That avoids discrimination and also means that a person with such profound psychiatric problems can have their diagnosis affirmed and be enabled to fit into society like everyone else. After all, in a tolerant and inclusive society we all must play along.

Seriously though, is there an off switch or even a cap for the level of absurdities we are meant to endure if we want to just go about our daily business, or do you suppose their intention is that a chronic exposure will lead to desensitization over time and we just get worn down by it all and gain a level of acceptance?

I sometimes wonder if, or hope, that this is an example of people deliberately applying the new rules to the letter in order to highlight how daft they are.

On other days my opinion is that these people have gone nuts.

You have to guess which opinion I have today and apologise profusely if you guess wrong.

Calling it Labour’s war on cars is pure deception.

The Conservative government is the one that passed the legislation condemning us to net zero targets.

But it’s not a UK issue alone. It is the plan for the entire western world imposed on us by a transnational oligarchy.

That is in fact so obvious to see it just reveals so clearly how our media is working for the oligarchy against ordinary people.

I watched the video of Tucker in Hungary a couple of days ago, and he has an interview with Victor Orban coming up soon…which I will definitely watch…

Everyone is free to agree with Tucker or disagree with him..but I personally find him a breath of fresh air in general, simply because he’s free to say things and interview people the MSM won’t…

This is his recent interview with Col. Douglas MacGregor, mainly talking about Ukraine but also about the ‘state of things’ in general.

European Regulators, Wielding a New Law Just Coming Into Effect, Begin a Broad Crackdown on Big Tech

Tangentially related, given that the EU is going the same way as the US, Meryl Nass posted this article by Jacob Siegel in The Tablet. It’s verrry loooong and I haven’t read all of it yet (cuppa and choccy bix needed), but worth a sceptic’s look. Here’s a quote:

Since 2016, the federal government has spent billions of dollars on turning the counter-disinformation complex into one of the most powerful forces in the modern world: a sprawling leviathan with tentacles reaching into both the public and private sector, which the government uses to direct a “whole of society” effort that aims to seize total control over the internet and achieve nothing less than the eradication of human error.

Apparently it’s being reported that Trump’s mugshot… has been viewed over 200 million times on X…

https://twitter.com/CollinRugg/status/1695595302554935476
Trump has also raised a whopping $7.1 million since his mugshot was released by the Fulton County jail.
Imagine thinking you finally humiliated Trump and then he immediately raises $7M.

The massive fundraising haul was fueled by mugshot merchandise.

The Trump campaign also set a personal record by raising $4.18 million in a 24-hour period, the most ever for his campaign.

Talk about a backfire.

I’ve not seen this covered on DS or mentioned in any posts:

(7) JBP Reacts to Court Decision – YouTube

Jordan Peterson was sanctioned by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (his professional governing body) after people complained about some of his “political” tweets. He appealed but a court has ruled that while Canada’s constitution guarantees freedom of speech, the professional GB is within its rights to force him to undergo “social media sensitivity training” from its “social media experts” or he loses his license to practice. There’s a link to the full judgment in the description, but key points are discussed in the podcast.
