Brace for Labour’s War on Cars as Sadiq Khan Draws Up Plans to Use Ulez Cameras to Enforce Pay-per-Mile Road Tax

Millions of drivers are in danger of being hit by a new pay-per-mile road tax under Labour plans seen by the Mail on Sunday.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has called for an army of experts to build a “sophisticated” new pricing system for the capital’s roads – using the cameras installed for his hugely controversial ultra low emission zone (Ulez) and Congestion Charge schemes.

It would mean drivers could incur charges based on the length of the trip taken, the congestion levels on the roads and the levels of pollution emitted.

A source said: “It is an open secret in City Hall that it is being worked on.”

A dedicated website called Project 2030 contains a request for engineers to “join TfL [Transport for London] now” to “lead the way in introducing a new, more sophisticated type of road pricing”.

The move has sparked concerns that Labour could roll out similar road taxes across the country, hitting millions. Amid claims that the party is working towards a “carless society”, Transport Secretary Mark Harper has written to Sir Keir Starmer to warn that the Government would legislate to block Labour from bringing in road charging.

Although Mr. Khan has denied any plans for per-mile charging, papers produced by the Mayor’s office and TfL explain how road pricing could work: “New technology could be used to integrate existing schemes such as the Congestion Charge, Lez and Ulez into a smarter, simpler and fair scheme that would charge motorists on a per-mile basis.

“Different charging rates would apply depending on variables such as how polluting a vehicle is, the level of congestion in the area and access to public transport.”

The document, which was part of a consultation on Ulez, added: “We are now starting to explore the potential for future road user charging.”

A well-placed source said the cameras from Ulez and the congestion charge could be used to develop the levy.

Mr. Harper said: “It has been suggested Labour plan to use air pollution to attempt to justify bringing in pay-per-mile charging for every car in London.”

He added that the Government will back an amendment to the upcoming Levelling Up Bill to ensure such changes require local council consent.

Khan is a megalomaniac. Cannot stand the traitorous little scrote. Here’s a 1min clip of a London cab driver who I think would agree. Anyone else in London who can attest to this? It seems an inevitable result anyway.

Strange. Just tried and it worked for me. Hope ‘X’ hasn’t gone back to its former weirdness of only allowing access for account holders..

I think we must realise that all these awful things that are happening will not be unique to Britain. It’s this Mayors thing and will be happening in many other countries across the world.

Yes, it doesn’t matter a jot which political party a mayor is aligned to, like all establishment parties they are ultimately following the agendas of the UN, WEF, think tanks ,lobbyists, billionaires, foundations and politicised global investment banks.

By the way, I love the diverse group of police officers in the background they’ve managed to corral together for this photo opportunity!
The ordinary white guy is the odd one out in his own country and he’s the one who’s fu£#ed off! No wonder people are burning books to get heard!

If you haven’t done so already join, give donations and become an activist with a centre right challenger party. Also, stop paying the TV propaganda tax and stop buying or subscribing to any national newspaper – that will do for starters.

There is already a pay-per-mile road tax. It’s called Fuel Duty.

stewart

And you realise that most of your fuel cost is tax when you go to a country where fuel prices are.less that half of those we pay.

Good point. Another way in which we’re subsidising people rich enough to own EVs – a lot of whom I am willing to bet own them through their firms, which is another wealth transfer scam (I believe there is some kind of scheme where you save the VAT – we were offered it at work – similar to the “bike to work” scheme).

JohnK

Some firms with on-site charging could offer it as a benefit as well. Not sure if there’s any income tax on that – probably not.

Depends where you charge it. Commercial outlets have to charge 20% VAT, whereas if you do it at home it’s 5% (as for all electric import – for now). Otherwise, it’s fuel excise duty (52.95 p/l) with VAT on top, so 63.4 p/l, or about 6.55 p/kWh thermal for E10 petrol. Diesel is better value tax wise, on account of it’s energy content per unit volume.

Strangely the cost is very little different. I suppose it is “saving the planet” though, but I really cannot understand how. My garden plants really appreciate the extra CO2!

It’s been obvious for some time that this is the plan. It’s the classic boiling frog scam:

  1. Central London congestion zone
  2. Central London ULEZ
  3. Wider London ULEZ
  4. Greater London ULEZ
  5. Road pricing for all vehicles

And Khan will argue that he has listened to complaints that (4) unfairly penalises the old, poor and vulnerable …… so he’s “levelled it out” and made everyone bear the cost of “improving air quality” by taxing everyone who dares to drive a vehicle in Greater London.

Calling it Labour’s war on cars is pure deception.

The Conservative government is the one that passed the legislation condemning us to net zero targets.

But it’s not a UK issue alone. It is the plan for the entire western world imposed on us by a transnational oligarchy.

That is in fact so obvious to see it just reveals so clearly how our media is working for the oligarchy against ordinary people.

I just can’t see how people can continue to make this a party political issue (let alone continue to vote for the same old parties). It will be interesting to see how the public react as our freedoms continue to be eroded. Unfortunately I suspect the vast majority will be carried along by whatever ‘granny killer’ narrative gets used.

I have a different view of the BRICS and their expansion/emancipation.

The oligarchs of those countries are in conflict with the western oligarchs, in particular since the weaponisation of the USD based financial system against Western “enemies”.

So all their actions to decouple from the west are about them, as oligarchs of their societies, being able to run their countries as they wish without being threatened by the west.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with improving the lot of their people. They don’t give a shit about their people any more than our oligarchs do. Whenever it looks like they are doing something for us, it is merely the minimum they feel they need to do to keep us pacified at minimal expense to them.

I don’t think so. They are getting together only for the purpose of creating financial independence from the USD because they can’t do it individually. But for now at.least I would say that is the extent of their common agenda. Which is not to say they won’t expand it in the future if they think they can benefit from it at the expense of their unwashed masses. As we all know the thirst for power is unquenchable.

Ulez only ever a stepping stone towards C40 mayors’ goal (Chair: S Khan) of pay per mile for all, including cyclists, scooterists and pedestrians. Book your journey on smartphone, AI assesses your eligibility to travel based on proposed time/distance/mode of travel, grants permission or not based on your carbon credit score, deducts charge automatically from your bank, tracks your journey via GPS and camera surveillance. Planet saved. Kerching!

It’s a supranational policy of implementing Agenda30 via the C40 cities, of which London is one. London is part of the Steering Committee – Khan isn’t just implementing this, he’s part of the driving force behind it.
Have a shufty at the website to see just how nefarious this is & where the first cities in the world are to implement this tyranny.

Instead of regurgitating Daily Mail articles with misleading information about labour policies, the DS should shed a light on this.

It’s fucking amazing. I’m leaving the word uncensored because I’m completely stunned.

This is like another WEF, but with actual voted representatives creating their own global fiefdom together with corporations.

Absolutely stunning.

This is the reality of the UN’s Agenda21 & Agenda30.
Your reaction is similar to mine when I found out about this.
It’s all part & parcel of the same nefarious criminal class hiding in plain sight – transferring assets from the poorest to the wealthiest all for the greater good.
Once you see this, you really cannot unsee it.

The big question to Susan Hall and others, who ‘pledge to cancel ULEZ if they’re elected in place of Khan’ is, OK, you’ll cancel ULEZ but will you also immediately remove all the cameras? I suspect the answer will be a lot of mumbled coughing behind hands
