Ulez Protest Featuring Tractors and Three-Wheel Car Brings Traffic to a Standstill

Protesters halted traffic on the outskirts of London in opposition to Sadiq Khan’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone, ahead of its expansion to cover the whole city. The Evening Standard has the story.

Tractors, a taxi and a three-wheel car were seen spiralling around a roundabout at Orpington War Memorial, South East London, while protesters shouted into megaphones and blew whistles.

The Ulez expansion will see drivers in outer London pay a £12.50 daily fee from August 29th if their vehicles do not meet required emissions standards.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak last month urged London Mayor Sadiq Khan to “think twice” about Ulez expansion, while on Monday, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer suggested cities should look at other options for tackling air pollution.

Mr. Khan has previously admitted his decision to expand the Ulez was “very difficult” but insisted it would “see five million more Londoners being able to breathe cleaner air”.

Orpington locals Alex Hart, 65, and his wife Cheryl Hart, 61, were among protesters on the edge of London.

The pair are worried they could have to spend up to £40,000 to replace their car.

Mr. Hart said: “I have never protested about anything until this. I have got a car which is a Volvo C30. It’s diesel because I was told by my Government that diesel was the environmentally friendly thing to do. I now have to get rid of it.”

You really think these people care about air quality? Everything that they serve us is utterly toxic. You need to develop a wider perspective.

And by “these people”, let’s be clear, we mean Sadiq Khan and the like.

Just in case there are any newbies on the block.

And also to say, “air quality” is another made up problem. Gone are the days when smog really did screw up your lungs.

If you want to breathe nasty air, try a regular commute on the London tube.

I remember pea souper fogs, fumes and masses of smoke from badly produced and maintained vehicle engines all run on diesel and leaded petrol. . I remember travelling to and from work on the London Underground, as a non-smoker, only having a choice of two non-smoking carriages.
Yet, here I am today none the worse from those ‘terrible’ conditions

Aye – used to travel on the Bakerloo line a few years back, often used to cough up gobbetts of soot-streaked gunk at the end of the day and I’ve never smoked. It was one of the reasons to start cycling the 6 miles to work!

This just in….

It’s not about pollution but about money and raising more taxes.

Therefore he is commiting fraud by misrepresentation, a very serious offence carrying a significant prison sentence. I can’t wait, but come to think of it he also controls the Police. They are, if he is left alone, committing a further offence, malfeasance in public office. Just why is London so corrupt? Curious eh, just like certain places on the sub-continent!

Independent measurments say the tube is way over the legal pollution limits, yet Khan has not closed it. I wonder if the revenue stream has anything to do with that?

My advice to this page and to those adopting a sceptical view – we are already here. We know how bad it is we don’t need to continuosly share it. We will work to put things together again for every British person. I know I will old or young. There is no hope via the ballot box or through some vague idea of social media. I am just telling you straight what happens if you don’t resist.

Well done folks.
People’s Army rules OK.

If Khan is pushing ahead it’s because he believes the population of London on the whole support it.

I think that’s probably true which makes them the useful idiots of the year. One day many of them may come to realise how they contributed to the destruction of modern life as we know it.

Reminds me of a German Nurse I knew – he refused to have the jab but if he paid 2,500 euros he could continue working!!!

BTW he didn’t pay but was allowed to continue working.
