J.K. Rowling Erased From Museum’s Hall of Fame Over Views on Gender

J.K. Rowling is likely ‘inconsolable’ over the news that the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, Washington, has removed any trace of her from its hall of fame and Harry Potter exhibit. The action was taken over her stance that biological sex is real, a position deemed beyond the pale. The Telegraph has more.

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in Seattle, Washington, accused the author of holding “super hateful and divisive” opinions in a lengthy blog post explaining its decision.

Rowling has received online abuse for her opinions on transgender issues after arguing that women should not be ousted from their jobs for believing biological sex is real.

She strongly denied accusations of transphobia in 2020 after mocking the use of the phrase “people who menstruate” in place of “women”.

While MoPOP continues to display memorabilia from the Harry Potter films, which are adapted from Rowling’s most famous novels, an article by its exhibitions project manager confirms references to the franchise’s creator are no longer included.

The Museum of Pop Culture

The museum doubled down on its decision on Saturday, saying it “unequivocally stands with nonbinary and transgender communities”.

Chris Moore, who is transgender and uses ‘he/they’ pronouns, wrote in the 1,400-word piece: “There’s a certain cold, heartless, joy-sucking entity in the world of Harry Potter and, this time, it is not actually a Dementor.

“This certain person is a bit too vocal with her super hateful and divisive views to be ignored… Her transphobic viewpoints are front and centre these days, but we can’t forget all the other ways that she’s problematic.”

Explaining the removal of Rowling from MoPOP’s hall of fame, Moore wrote: “For the time being, the curators decided to remove any of her artefacts from this gallery to reduce her impact. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s what we were able to do in the short-term while determining long-term practices.”

On the author’s induction in 2018, a year before she first publicly expressed her views on trans issues, MoPOP described the Harry Potter books as “beloved” and published a three-paragraph biography of Rowling outlining her literary achievements.

In his post, Moore also accused Rowling of “fat-shaming”, a “lack of LGBTQIA+ representation” and using “racial stereotypes” in her books.

“We learned that [Rowling] was a problem, which is why you’ll see the artefacts without any mention or image of the author,” he said. After all, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are all incredibly vocal allies.”

”She is frequently kind and she’s suddenly cruel
But she can do as she pleases, she’s nobody’s fool
And she can’t be convicted, she’s earned her degree
And the most she will do is throw shadows at you
But she’s always a woman to me”

JK has lady balls and I have great admiration for her. I stand with anyone who speaks out, stands by their principles and opposes this incessant lunacy that’s everywhere we turn. It’s like a bombardment of agendas!
I oppose this ( see below ), I only deal with biological facts and I don’t think keeping female toilets and changing rooms free of penises is in any way radical. Oh, and I go to the gym and distrust government at every level so I’m resigned to the fact I’m basically viewed as a terrorist nowadays.

Prof Francione has written an excellent ( and long ) essay on this very subject and then some. ( *TRA = Trans-rights activists ) ”Another empirical fact that cannot de disputed is that biological males engage in a great deal of violence against biological females. And violence against women and girls is increasing. Let’s be clear: violence against women is based on their biology, not their gender identity. That is, sexual batteries are performed with sex organs and larger body size/strength. It’s not a matter of gender. It’s a matter of sex. One of the primary reasons that female-only spaces were established was to address concerns about violence from biological males. In addition, these spaces provide some protection for women from the exhibitionism and voyeurism of biological males — behaviors that may not involve physical violence but certainly involve psychological violence and are extremely common. Until the advent of trans activism, we have accepted without question that it is the right of biological women to not have biological males in toilets, changing rooms, shower rooms, rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters, prisons, and in other situations in which biological women are vulnerable as biological women. This is not to say that society has… Read more »

It’s not a perfect solution”.

One wonders what a perfect, or as one might put it, “final” solution they’d like to implement if they could.

Oh, they’ll eventually have the Harry Potter books written by ‘Anon’. And probably purge all the references to friends, family, love (including all that yucky straight stuff), truth, honour, etc from the books too….

I wonder if a future generation will look back on all this gender-identity hysteria as being akin to koro, which is a global mass hysteria in which people develop the delusion that eating vaccinated pigs causes major anatomical changes.

Bear with me….I’m putting myself in JK’s shoes here and just thinking ….if I was a very rich and famous, much loved and talented author….would I care one jot if some unknown museum in the arse-crack of Sodom decided it was ‘erasing’ me from their ‘hall of fame?’…..
It’s a tough one …. It would be a bit like getting banned from the Derwent Pencil Museum in Keswick..but worse coz at least I’ve heard of that one……LOL!!

On Twitter I’ve asked supporters of extreme trans ideology, literally dozens of times:

“Do you believe that men should be allowed into women’s spaces uninvited, such as changing rooms with communal showers, where women and girls undress? If not, why not?”

Literally not one of them has ever attempted to answer the question. I make it clear that by ‘men’ I mean their definition of ‘men’ (i.e. not ‘trans women’). They all make some excuse as to why they should not answer the question. They are all afraid to answer a very straightforward question.

Another question none of them can answer is:

“How is it possible to distinguish a trans woman from a man pretending to be a trans woman?”

It isn’t about rights and freedoms is it..clearly. Because when you have a serious discussion about that subject it necessitates the involvement of the feelings, freedom and human rights of all….by its very nature it has to….if your starting point is suppression, you have already lost…and if you are ‘inventing’ a whole new sub-set of people to be offended..it can’t end well… ……these ‘trans’ arguments never involve everyone, as they don’t care about the rights of the women and girls they are invading and suppressing…they don’t care about wider society either.. it’s about one set of individuals rights to govern and obliterate the freedoms of another….it’s inherently sexist…among other things… Don’t know if you caught this..? Senator Ted Cruz I think puts it very plainly and clearly…. Is there a difference between men and women..and if their isn’t, what’s the point of women’s sport at all? …the rights and wrongs of this are very simple question to the majority of us..but when you go down the rabbit hole of having to make excuses for your blatant attempts to conquer another set of people …. and you try to wrap it up in the veneer of some human right context..you have… Read more »

Just erase Chris Moore he is an irrelevant man

NeilParkin

Chris Moore sounds like the kind of non-achieving, envious, smooth-brain that we have come to know well during these days of ‘Topsy-turvy Morality’. Perhaps we ought to evaluate his successful series of novels for hate speak. Perhaps he’s never written a series of successful novels, or done anything else of note for that matter. Poor Chris. All you’ve got is that fire of hate for people who don’t think like you do. The critic reborn. ‘I cannot do what you can do, but I know everything that’s wrong with what you do.’

It’s as well to remember the incredible power of these unseen forces, capable of censoring one of the most successful and wealthy authors in the world, deliberately ruining the market position of an international beer brand (no, the Bud story wasn’t an error by an incompetent marketing person), and refusing a bank account to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
