Nigel Farage Launches Campaign to Tackle ‘Major National Scandal’ of De-banking
Nigel Farage has announced the launch of AccountClosed.org, the latest effort in his campaign aimed at helping individuals who have fallen victim to the widespread issue of debanking. The Telegraph has the story.
Nigel Farage is unveiling a new website to help people who have lost their accounts in the “major national scandal” of debanking as former Prime Minister Liz Truss warns that the current system could put people off going into politics.
In an exclusive interview with the Telegraph, Mr. Farage announced the launch of his campaign and the AccountClosed.org site.
The former UKIP leader said he had been “overwhelmed” by members of the public messaging him with their own experiences of being de-banked after his Coutts accounts were closed because of his political views.
He said the website was aimed at quantifying the scale of the problem, finding the banks who are the “worst offenders” and identifying the main reasons why individuals and businesses have had services withdrawn.
“I’m beginning to have the impression this is much, much bigger than any of us could have contemplated,” he said.
“This is about the right to free speech, about having a country where people are treated fairly in an age when you frankly can’t function on a personal level, let alone a business level, without a bank account.”
Mr. Farage said he was particularly concerned by “dozens” of reports from small businesses that they were having accounts closed because their banks do not approve of how much they are trading in cash.
As well as building a picture of the problem, he said AccountClosed.org could become a “really powerful lobby group to go to Parliament” and demand an overhaul of current financial services legislation.
The Telegraph understands ministers are already considering plans that would order banks to give some business account holders at least 90 days notice of termination and a clear example of why accounts are being closed, mirroring measures recently announced for personal accounts.

Nigel has far more impact outside of Parliament than he would as an MP.
He’s become the tip of the spear against corporate wokism.
Let’s mobilise and get behind him folks.

Fortunately I have not yet been de-banked but I have visited https://www.accountclosed.org/ where there is a petition. I have signed.
Good luck Sir Nigel.
Banks punishing businesses using cash; the great Matt le Tissier explains it thus: “This is so true and explains brilliantly why it is in all our interests to make the effort to use cash https://abs-0.twimg.com/emoji/v2/svg/1f4b7.svg Why should we pay cash everywhere with banknotes instead of a card ? – I have a £50 banknote in my pocket. Going to a restaurant and paying for dinner with it. The restaurant owner then uses the note to pay for the laundry. The laundry owner then uses the note to pay the barber. The barber will then use the note to pay for shopping. After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain a £50 value, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment and the bank has jumped dry from every cash payment transaction made. BUT IF I go to a restaurant and pay digitally via Card, – the bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around £1.50 ( and so will be the fee of £1.50 for each further payment transaction ) -for the owner re laundry or – payments of the owner of the laundry shop, – or payments… Read more »
There are some things I prefer to pay cash for rather than declaring it all to the bank. However, it does create an opportunity for various traders to do the odd job with no paperwork, no guarantee etc. No income tax, no VAT….
I used to think that was a bad thing.
Now I know my tax is going to fund bullets in Ukraine, migrant upkeep and a Turkish version of HS2 I don’t bother declaring my ad hoc clients’ payments – just the advance booked ones. Downtick me if you like; I don’t give a toss.
Sod HMRC and the last half dozen chancellors. Any spare I have will go to Cats Protection or the Maggie Oliver Foundation.
And why not? Are you implying those naughty traders who might do some odd jobs for cash are criminals who wouldn’t declare some of that cash income in order to evade HM thugs? Unlike the fine upstanding financial leaders, corporate elite, and political representatives of said useless eaters, who would never dream of perpetrating such a heinous crime for personal gain.
Electronic or cash?
Both I say. Let people make their own (informed) choices. Why remove people’s choices? Makes no sense, except.🤔.
Oh no, just another conspiracy theory, slap my wrists…!
Tried visiting accountclosed.org There is only a questionnaire on it at present along with an email address gathering setup which I found a tad disappointing.
Hats off to the initiative though.
