Keir Starmer Must Pay for Damage Caused by Just Stop Oil Protest, Says Government Minister

Energy Security Secretary Grant Shapps has written to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer demanding that he pays for the damage caused by Just Stop Oil when its activists yesterday attacked the Department for Energy Security. The Express has the story.

Mr. Shapps noted that the Labour party has accepted ÂŁ1.5 million in donations from one of Just Stop Oil’s biggest donors, Dale Vince.

In his letter, the Secretary of State for Energy Security said: “I am writing to you to ask you to pay to repair the damage to the department. The British public should not have to foot the bill for your mates in Just Stop Oil.”

The eco-protesters sprayed orange paint over the Department “demanding that the U.K. Government immediately halts all new licences and consents for new oil, gas and coal projects”.

Mr. Shapps claimed the damages are worth ÂŁ3,000 to ÂŁ4,000, adding: “We will send you the invoice.”

He continued: “Given your close connections with the group responsible for the damage, you must also be responsible for picking up the bill to clean up for them.”

Earlier this year, the Labour party faced pressure from Tory MPs to return the ÂŁ1.5million in donations recieved by the party since 2014.

The Conservative Party’s Deputy Chairman Lee Anderson said the acceptance of the money is a “slap in the face to hardworking Brits trying to get on with their lives”.

Meanwhile, Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns said the general public are “tired of road blocks and disruptions”, adding: “Enough is enough.”

Mr. Anderson told the Daily Express: “Starmer’s been caught orange-handed.”

At the moment I have not got my head round this because the actions of Grant Shapps seem entirely reasonable and would doubtless meet with public approval. Starmer and Labour do indeed need to pick up the tab for the JSO vandalism. However, the government have made no attempts to stop the eco protesters anywhere they rock up so why deploy common sense now?

There is kidology at play here in some form for sure but what exactly?

I bet Dale Vince hasn’t been de-banked despite funding a criminal organisation.

And was anyone arrested for this criminal damage or can we all go round defacing property we don’t like?

What’s the point of arresting them? They’ll get a pathetically small fine which will no doubt be paid for by JSO using money donated by the likes of Dale Vince.

Classic sock puppet government.
Sunak’s globalist cabale support the net zero freedom grab but must be ‘seen’ to be outraged over the JSO disruption tactics.
Their strategy? Talk it up, mildly scold the police, do nothing.

Exactly. I think Starmer is doing the Devil’s work but this seems like a stretch. HMG is fully on board with eco folly and evil, they need to get their own house in order.

It’s clear that TPTB support these clowns.

They popped up on the Last Leg last week and Adam Hills hugged one of them. I already knew that series was left-leaning and as woke as anything, but when I saw the hug I deleted the episode without watching any further and cancelled my series link.

This is absurd. There is no evidence the Labour Party has accepted any donations from Just Stop Oil. The only proven connection between the Labour Party and Just Stop Oil is that Dale Vince has donated to both organisations. Send the bill to Just Stop Oil or just possibly Dale Vince.

I do actually agree, as far as my knowledge of any links between Labour and JSO go. It would seem to be the equivalent of imposing on a fine on Nigel Farage, because he’s a friend and supporter of Novak Djokovic, and the latter didn’t get a compulsory jab.

I dislike both Keir Starmer and JSO, but I also dislike juvenile party political gestures (together with joining those above in pointing out the lack of adult political action).

On climate the whole of the western world is guilty of practising pseudo post modern science and calling it “science” and hence a “crisis” ————Model projections are not “science” and not evidence of anything.———Guilty M’Lord. Take them Down.

How about if me and few friends start the “Just Start Oil” protest group, and we attack turbines and spray paint solar panels? Would our feet touch the ground or would the plod offer us a sandwich and a cola? ——–I think we know where me and my friends would end up and it would not be pretty. Yet these brainwashed dreamers are given such an easy ride by the hand wringing pretend to save the planet politicians. —–WHY? Because it is hard to come down like ton of bricks on your own useful idiots that do all your dirty work for you.

Looks like some bunch of sensible people have already beat me to it by surrounding a bunch of the brainwashed dreamers and stopping them from moving. —-So is this what it is to be now then? The people have to stop the brainwashed dreamers ourselves since the politically correct plod are scared stiff to be called “deniers”. Which has to be one of the most infantile terms ever.

Tories are just as responsible for these stunts as Labour. Tories have done sod all to curtail Just Stop Oil.
