Republican Lawmakers Urged to Dismiss Latest UN Climate Demands
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres recently asked wealthy nations to bring forward the Net Zero deadline from 2050 to 2040. In response, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a non-profit policy group that advocates for limited government, has published a memo urging GOP members of Congress to denounce the request as “alarmist”.
Fox News has the story.
The memo started by picking apart various claims from those who warn that global warming will lead to catastrophic changes to human and animal life. For example, it noted a short-term projection by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that suggests global temperatures peaked nearly a decade ago in 2015.
“Despite this reality, we are told every day that every emission warms the planet. That is clearly not the case. We should not mindlessly and recklessly proceed with dangerous and expensive emissions cuts until this paradox is resolved,” the memo stated.
It then pointed out that a recent report from the Energy Information Administration… said the Biden administration will already fall well short of its goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Evs, e fuels and hydrogen transport systems are all pigs in pokes! None of them will make any difference to the climate but will hit the prolls hard in the pocket!

I don’t know, I couldn’t find a copy of the memo on the Internet. There is the University of Alabama in Huntsville global temperature reports that suggest a pause over a similar time period. I’d say ‘pause’ rather than ‘peak’. Please see link to the latest report. Note that when they reset their 30 year base period in January 2021 the increase in global temperatures was 0.14% after 10 years. Their measurements are satellite based.

Thanks. I am aware of UAH (and the alternative satellite record RSS). But I doubt NOAA was referring to that. I too could not find the memo – not even on the CEI website.

I read that a few days ago but it is nothing to do with the NOAA.
Antonio Guterres while he may have qualifications he has no real world experience in any actual skill. He has not worked as an engineer, farmer, fisherman, pilot, doctor or anyone that has to interact directly with reality. Therefore his pronouncements have no basis in knowledge and contain no wisdom. The most vocal supporters of the idea that humans are causing a Climate Emergency are Hollywood film stars, pop singers, children and a lot of politicians. When children, actors and adolescents are demanding that you follow the ‘science’ and ‘scientists’ that they have identified, while shutting down any scrutiny by using ad-hominins and appeals to authority it should be blatantly obvious that all is not well with this new cult, because that is what it is. It is apparent that this whole band-wagon is like a continuous pop festival when the over-riding aim is to belong. This is NOT science no matter how much an adolescent shouts at you that it is.
