Trans Athletes Banned From Women’s Events by Swim England

Transgender athletes have been banned from licensed women’s swimming events by Swim England, in the latest victory for commonsense against trans ideology. The Mail has the story.

The sport’s governing body has introduced an ‘open’ category for those born male as well as trans or non-binary competitors, while a ‘female’ category will be restricted to those with a birth sex of female.

The policy comes into effect on September 1st and will apply to competitions under Swim England’s auspices including those organised by member regions and clubs.

Swim England said hormonal therapy reduced performance advantage but was “insufficient to negate it completely and trans females therefore likely retain an advantage over their cisgender peers”.

“As a result, Swim England believes the restriction of certain competition to birth sex females to be justified and proportionate in the pursuit of fair competition,” it added.

The policy contains provision for self-identification at lower-level events such as recreational races.

Last year swimming’s world governing body FINA voted to ban those who have gone through male puberty from women’s events. It comes amid controversy in the U.S. after Lia Thomas, 22, became the first transgender swimmer to win America’s top university swimming championship in the female category last March.

It follow similar bans announced in recent days by U.K. Athletics and World Athletics, reflecting a concerted move to keep males out of women’s sport. Let’s hope the unexpected outbreak of rationality is contagious.

Bravo! Just let the trans athletes have a category all of their own then everyone will be happy because it then becomes fair. Well, unless the whole idea behind competing was to give yourself an advantage and not to play fair in the first place…

But then the female-trans will complain about being disadvantaged by the male-trans (or is it the other way round?).

Let them squabble amongst themselves then. I’m done with the unnecessary drama at this point in time!😁

And can we forget all the “nothing against Lia Thomas, it’s not her fault” bull. Yes it is his fault. Going from a low ranking male to the top ranking “female“ and claiming through hormone suppression he he hasn’t gained an advantage is self evident nonsense on stilts and makes him a shameless narcissist of epic proportions. The cheat has chosen to compete against women, in full knowledge of his miraculous rankings improvement. So he’s either extremely dumb, or a knowing cheat and gaslighter of women and one of the world’s biggest a-holes happy to unfairly displace women who have trained hard all their female lives. I opt for the latter. Also it is now known he frequented autogynephilia fora on the Internet indicating he is a fantasist rather than someone “suffering” gender dysphoria and like so many others, he wants us all to participate in his fetish game of “let’s pretend” centred, more than anything else, on wanting to be treated like a woman during sex. I have no problem with transsexuals, transvestities or gay men. Gay sex, once the inside/outside closet line is crossed probably costs a lot less than straight sex (and yes I’m including monogamous happily… Read more »

Good news. Just a shame they had to say “cisgender” instead of “actual women”.

Is “cisgender” a word that has been invented to validate the concept of “transgender” and undermine the meaning of the words “man” and “woman”?

Cis and trans are sciency prefixes borrowed from chemistry:

Cistrans isomerism, also known as geometric isomerism or configurational isomerism, is a term used in chemistry that concerns the spatial arrangement of atoms within molecules. The prefixes “cis” and “trans” are from Latin: “this side of” and “the other side of”, respectively.

The above copied from that source of all truth Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cis%E2%80%93trans_isomerism (though it is sometimes useful).

However, trans in the concept of gender is more likely based on ‘transition’ – which may, of course, refer to the process of crossing from one side to the other.

Thanks – I did wonder where this cis/trans stuff came from! Should have remembered my Latin…

LOL I have legit never heard of that word in my life! It is bad enough that I must refer to myself as a ”biological woman”, which I refuse to do, obv, but this new terminology is just taking the Mick and I refuse to partake of the entire farce. It’s insulting. Two sexes, no sub-categories.

They’ve tried terms like ‘egg-producing’ (except some don’t or have stopped or have not started yet) or people with a cervix (except some don’t have them due to surgery).

Woman, Man. Perfectly serviceable terms.

Sure some people wish they weren’t what they are. I wish I was a billionaire – but I’m not.

Just “identify” as one – and then sue your bank for not handing over your billions!

Biological woman … hmm … there are obviously biological non-women but non-biological women cannot exist, at least not if they’re supposed to be alive and not something like statues (of woman). It’s not even possible to self-identify as non-biological, ie, one cannot state “I self-identify as stone” because that’s a proof that one isn’t as stones cannot do that. OTOH, some people presumably believe that stones are just social constructs, calling the mutes ones cisstones and the talking ones transstones.

Alles so schön bunt hier!

Sometimes I can’t help thinking that much of woke ideology came from a really bad LSD trip someone once had some time in the 1970s.

“…as stones cannot do that.”

… But that just goes to show the superiority of trans-stones over cis-stones.

Did you not hear about the man who told his doctor he was dead?
The doctor replied, “Do dead men bleed?”
“No”
The doctor stabbed the patient’s finger with a green hypodemic needle. “There – you’re bleeding!”
“Well what do you know – dead men do bleed.”

The only thing I know ( not for sure as it may be fake news ) is that male fish are turning into females due to the peeing out of contraceptive pills by us ladies, so now we can be hated by the vegans as well.😁 Cripes, vegans + trans activists = OMFG!!😱👹🙈

That’s probably not as good as one might believe: Will organizers of competitions remain free to actually hold separate competitions for men and women or will they end up being smeared, threatened and defunded unless they organize only ‘open’ competitions? And how’s that with swimming pool owners? Or the athletes themselves?

So, that’s two men’s categories and one women’s then. Let’s face it, any women that ID as non-binary or as a trans men will compete in the women’s category because they know, as does everyone on the planet, that biology, anatomy and physiology matter.

A few years ago Serena Williams was asked by a reporter who clearly wanted to make the case that women and men can compete in physical sport, how she thought she would fare playing against men. Williams was singled out because she is big and powerful. She replied “If I played Andy Murray I would lose 6-0 6-0. ——I hope proponents of certain gender ideologies are listening.

I think the athletic authorities are correct in banning converted men in women’s events. Perhaps it would give athletes an opportunity to allow new classes of competitors, i.e. 1). Men who want to be women; 2). Women who want to be men. I daresay my descriptions may be offensive to some of them, but that is what they would be, although the authorities could use watered down more acceptable descriptions if necessary. Do we think there would be an audience for such competitions?
