Return of the Flu as California Hospitals Erect Overflow Tents to Cope With Big Early Surge

Flu is back with an unusually large and early surge, leading several Southern California hospitals to begin using overflow tents to cope with a rising number of patients with flu and other respiratory illness. AP News has more.

The San Diego-Union Tribune reported Friday that tents were put up at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas, Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health in La Jolla and Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa.

The move comes amid a rise in flu symptoms in emergency room patients in San Diego County. About 9% of these patients had flu symptoms last week, up from 7% two weeks ago, according to a county report that also flagged an increase in patients with COVID-19 symptoms, though not as quickly.

Scripps hospitals and doctor’s offices reported 1,695 positive flu tests since September 1st, up from 471 in the same, year-ago period.

Health experts said it was not immediately clear whether flu cases would reach an earlier-than-usual peak in California, which typically sees the bulk of cases in December through February, or a prolonged flu season.

Andrew Pekosz, Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Johns Hopkins University, tweeted a chart showing an alarmingly steep and early rise in positive flu tests at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland.

What lies behind the surge? Have lockdowns reduced our immunity by limiting our exposure? Have they driven mutations in viruses to make them more infectious and virulent? What role might the Covid vaccines be playing?

Will it lead to calls for ’emergency’ Covid measures for flu?

Will it mean Covid finally takes a back seat this winter and lets another virus have the field?

How this pans out medically and politically is worth watching closely.

Relentless.
‘What lies behind the surge? Have lockdowns reduced our immunity by limiting our exposure? Have they driven mutations in viruses to make them more infectious and virulent? What role might the Covid vaccines be playing?’

Bingo. So the Stabs destroyed their immune systems. Lockdowns destroyed their physical and mental health. And now we are surprised by the flu returning, when it has disappeared for 2 years.

Aren’t 80% of Californians (Mexifornians) fully stabbinated, diaper wearing, distance loving zombies? Weren’t they told that the 3 mandates+LDs protect them against the terrifying 0.03% IFR Rona which is so much worse than the flu? And now?

Why are they ill if the diapers, darts lockdowns and distancing work……?

It’s all so marvellously bonkers isn’t it?
LOL
.

they are now being urged by Californian Doctors to get their (also useless) flu shot
and “those 65 years and older — the group most vulnerable to severe disease and death from flu and COVID — can get an “enhanced” flu shot that provides more protection than the regular shot. While enhanced versions, which either contain a higher dose than the regular shot or elements that boost immune response, have been available in previous years, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is for the first time recommending them for all Americans 65 and older.”

What do you think the extra added super-dooper elements are?

We know that this is caused by the jabs in one very simple way that I would say is virtually irrefutable.

If those without covid jabs were the ones getting sick it would be all over the news, the government would be screaming about it, the entire healthcare industry would be banging on about it and there would be all sorts of talk of vaccine passports.

But not a peep. Nothing. Crickets.

Lord Almighty EXACTLY this!
All my normy jabbed up friends recently bedridden for 2 to 3 weeks. I’ve never had a flu that had me bedridden for more than 4 or 5 days. My dad not sick for 3.5 years down with bad flu.
He said to me today: “It’s strange I had my flu jab this year.”

I said “Dad, they don’t work. I’d probably only take tetanus and Rabies after what I’ve learned.”

He didn’t argue with me or even laugh me off for the first time.

I’m not sure what we are dealing with when even faced with facts they really won’t believe stuff!?

I think it’s a combination of pride and embarrassment. They can’t bear the thought of being wrong especially after having so much negative feelings towards us.

My woke acquaintances deal with it by not talking about The Virus and what they did in the Lockdown and Jab Wars. They change the subject to Ukraine or, now that peace is inconveniently breaking out there, gender issues. They’ve long moved on from Climate Change as a Thing To Be Virtuous About. Soon they will be short of cash, and will therefore blame the Government or the Tories, despite their strong support for all the authoritarian Government policies during The Lockdowns.

Indeed. We also have competitive energy saving conversations. Our immediate neighbours would now appear to be living in one room and their gas boiler is on a timer whereas before it was on 24 hours/day. We’ve always had timed heating so it’s not the biggie for us that it is for them.
Friends of friends installed a heat pump system last year but now aren’t using it at all as they’re saving the planet and keeping costs down too.
Wonder what’s next? Water?

I too have noticed the conversation is energy costs what to do to save money. The causes of the problems are neatly ignored on the normy environment.
I really have to space out normy social engagements with awake friends.
I think food prices will be next, then shortages interspersed with blackouts.

Yes, I space normy social engagements too. I usually let the others lead the conversation and only chip in if I feel like it.
I think water will become an issue too in the not too distant future.

Lemme guess…all the multi-vaxxed people are gonna go on to catch any old seasonal resp virus now ( and being ”flu season” it looks like this one will be popular now ) and have a disproportionate reaction, compared with their unvaxxed counterparts, to it because their immune systems are screwed up due to them having ‘VAIDS’. Mmm permanent immune system damage + heart damage…The possibilities are endless.
A good substack explaining VAIDS;

Increase in people with flu symptoms, increase in people with Covid-19 symptoms…

Assuming no one’s been doing a pcr test that actually distinguishes between an influenza virus and the SARS coronavirus, and are only acting on the basis of symptoms – could someone explain exactly how they distinguish ‘flu’ symptoms from ‘Covid-19’ symptoms? Considering that the symptoms in and of themselves showed a rather astonishing similarity.

I have a cold today and it’s textbook, textbook cold. Sore throat, croaky, slight cough, runny nose, bit of a headache. Maybe it’s Covid, I wouldn’t ever be able to tell you. I can still smell the bull$hit every time I’m near the NHS so I think I’m safe.

You need a politician to diagnose you. Preferably a globalist.

If you get it and feel ill, lose your sense of taste or smell. Rarely associated with sniffles or a cough but some strained breathing.
Not like any flu I’ve ever had. Head feels tired as well.

More recent strains of Covid typically don’t cause loss of taste or smell at all, though occasionally they might here and there. Thus, it is now practically indistinguishable from the flu (if moderate to severe) or the common cold (if mild).

Didn’t flu go into hiding during lockdown? Wonder how easy it is to diagnose flu as covid and covid as flu (rhetorical question)? Uhmmm….

Edit: apologies, just realised JaneDoeNL has just posted the exact same thing.

Surely some people had to have it or it would have become extinct.

So where exactly did it survive, and why?

It survived at a very low level apparently, either dormant or in animal reservoirs (such as birds). Also, Kenya was the exception to the rule, in the the flu never went away there at all.

I’ve got my first cold since Nov 2019!

It’s somewhat nice to know I’m actually human after all I was beginning to wonder.

Slept most of Saturday and Sunday, 4 paracetamol n Saturday, and back for a full day at work today, ya know, like we used to do it in the olden days 🙂

What role might the covid “vaccines” be playing?

Well, on a biomolecular level, maybe this :-

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S027869152200206X

Or, in simple terms, they trash your immune system.

Dr Jennifer explains and demonstrates how they’ve fudged the data and this is mere fear porn;

“Back to my hypothesis above. We whacked out everyone’s immune systems. I will also hypothesize that the number of “died suddenly” are being absorbed into the flu deaths this winter along with covid deaths. Ethical Skeptic will be tracking this I am sure. Easy to stash those cardiac and cancer deaths under flu and covid as the cause. The CDC is salivating for flu season to get here so badly they started it earlier than normal so they can stash the death data from “died suddenly” somewhere else besides covid.”

It could be that the bureaucrats have had a lot of practice, and might attempt to react to the latest ‘flu outbreak in the same way. That could be a consequence of the C-19 dĂ©bacle.

I was blackmailed into being vaccinated last year by my adult children (one a medic) who said they wouldn’t see me if I didn’t get the shot. She has been quiet for the last 12 months. I have been taking NAC twice daily since then, both to help counter the effects of the vaccine and to boost my immune response by optimising glutathione levels. At least that’s how I understand it. For the last 3 years I’ve not had cold, flu or Covid. I will not be taking any more vaccines – flu or Covid – as I now have enough evidence to counter the blackmail (as I hope and suspect she now has).

N-acetylcysteine. I first read about it in the early days of corona, when it was being suggested as a useful non-prescription decongestant. At the time, if I remember correctly, it was a product that had been available as a dietary supplement in the US for decades, but around that time was prohibited OTC. Which is when I figured it must actually be effective.

I got some here in NL as part of OTC cough medication. Both my mum and I had recently had what I suspect was corona, she had some congestion for a few days and this cleared that up.

It also has other uses, look it up, quite an interesting thing.

It was only taken off sale by Amazon and in the USA when it was reclassified as a drug rather than a food supplement by – I think – the FDA. It is available at Holland & Barrett in the UK as well as online without a problem. One medical use for it is to treat cystic fibrosis patients by reducing mucal congestion.

Yes, sorry, I meant that I had read it was reclassified in the US and therefore no longer easily available. Sort of like HCQ was no longer sold OTC in France right around the same time…

I got it here in NL as part of a cough medication that is available OTC in a drug store that is part of a large chain, it’s probably available from other places, I never actually looked. Never tried it until my mum took some a few weeks ago and she said it did help. A 5x vaxxed friend of hers has a cough she can’t shake, my mum suggested she try this.

Does anyone know whether there’s been a similar resurgence of flu in the UK yet?

adamcollyer

I would hazard a guess that the increase in flu cases is down to an increase in testing, particularly with newly developed tests having just been introduced that detect both flu and Covid.
