According to Esther McVey, Jeremy Hunt Has Pledged Never to Reimpose a Full Lockdown

Esther McVey MP has written a piece in the Express explaining why she’s agreed to back Jeremy Hunt in the Conservative leadership contest. On the face of it, it’s an unlikely alliance. Not only is McVey a Brexiteer who’s on the right of the party, while Hunt was a Remainer who identifies as a liberal conservative, but McVey has been one of the most vociferous anti-lockdown campaigners of the past two-and-a-half years, whereas Hunt was a lockdown zealot (although he denies that now). However, according to McVey, Hunt has pledged never to reimpose a full lockdown in response to a Covid-style pandemic.

I fully understand that many people will be surprised that I am supporting Jeremy Hunt for the leadership of the Conservative Party and to become Prime Minister.

I am even braced for the inevitable abuse from people saying that I have sold out my principles. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In an article in the Express last week I set out the five priorities that are essential for the Conservative Party and its new leader: 1) Protecting Brexit and ensuring the Northern Ireland Protocol is fixed to protect the integrity of the United Kingdom; 2) cutting taxes whilst living within our means; 3) delivering on the Levelling Up agenda helping to ensure the North is able to maximise its potential; 4) reducing levels of immigration into the UK and sorting out once and for all illegal immigration – especially the dinghies coming over from France; and 5) to ensure we never again have full lockdowns and damaging restrictions in the face of a future covid-style pandemic.

Jeremy Hunt has pledged to accept and deliver on all five of those priorities – so much for anyone who thinks that I am selling out on my principles.

Worth reading in full.

Couple of caveats there, obviously: he’s pledged not to reimpose a full lockdown, meaning he could reimpose mask mandates and vaccine passports, and he’s only ruled out a full lockdown in the face of another Covid-style pandemic, leaving him room to impose a full lockdown in response to an outbreak of another virus. Still, it’s an encouraging sign.

Let’s hope the other candidates make similar pledges as the contest rumbles on. No doubt they’ll be asked the question at the hustings. We’ll keep track of their response.

Never trust any politician.

The only good thing about Jeremy Hunt is left wing women from Sky & the BBC show their hypocrisy by mispronouncing his name live on air.

So much for fighting “sexism ‘n’ misogyny”

The country has had a good look at Mr Hunt.

Yet another Minister captured by the public sector.

Thanks, Mr Hunt, but it seems unlikely that you will cause much trouble to the scorer.

Very good comment by one of the pundits this morning that a conviction politician is required.

That way, when decisions have to be swiftly taken, the decision maker can follow their star rather than vacillating like the previous incumbent.

And, apparently, alarmingly, a lot of decisions have to be taken very quickly. That, to me, indicates a problem at the heart of government.

It is difficult to conceive of a situation more pressurised than that of Montgomery on the eve of El Alamein and yet he retired to his caravan in good order for a decent night’s sleep at 2100hrs.

Why cannot our senior politicians and their staff not operate in a similarly measured, disciplined, fashion?

Crisis follows crisis. Reverse ferret follows reverse ferret. Suggests that there is no ‘big picture’ for any of them. They are making it up on the hoof, and not thinking anything through properly.

And that bloke who apparently took time to finish his game upon hearing of some rather poor quality, flat-bottomed warships approaching the southern coast.

Can we understand “Full Lockdown” to be as logical and meaningful and unambiguous as the term “Fully Vaccinated”?

Because I still don’t know what “Fully Vaccinated” means, and they’re still banging on about it like everyone understands.

WEASEL WORDS

Arbitrary, disproportionate and unnecessary. That’s all anyone needs to know about all of this. Ergo, we’ve never been legally bound by any of it.

They all need sacking, most of all, Her Majesty’s Most Loyal Opposition (hahahah). And who – just who – is going to do it? Or does anyone seriously think we can change it “from within”?!

A full lockdown is likely the door and windows of your house nailed shut with you in it chained to the bed. Anything less than that will be fine by Mr Hunt. All of lockdowns are illegal infringements of basic freedoms, and besides that they don’t work in any medical sense.

Who is the person going round downvoting all these perfectly sensible comments?

Someone who can’t afford a £5 per month to explain themselves, that’s who.

Esther McVey? Is she Hunt’s nanny now, or what?

She’s been offered deputy premiership in return for her support and the assumption the Brexit crowd will vote for Hunt in exchange.
Not a single candidate will stop the globalist manifesto.
So they can all go to hell for all I care.

There’s another caveat Toby – he’s a lying piece of filth politician who can’t be trusted not to mug his own mother.

Indeed no candidate will say that, but the one we hope wins will be the one that comes closest. But that doesn’t mean a sceptic should actively endorse any of them.

But anything even remotely pushing Hunt or giving him credit or even seeming to approve of his candidacy or his declaration is in insult to sceptics.

No lockdowns, no masks, no vaxx passes, no mass testing, no psy-ops, disband SAGE, ditch mass vaxxing, abolish the “health security” Gestapo, abject apology for the lies and stupidity and money wasted, no more “misinformation” censorship by Ofcom or anyone else. These are the minimum demands. Anyone not agreeing is not really on our side.

Still, it’s an encouraging sign.

Eh, no it’s not.

It’s actually the opposite of encouraging.

It’s the sort of qualified language that was used to deny that vax passports would be introduced or that vax mandates would be imposed right up to the point where they backtracked and did exactly what they pretended to be claiming they wouldn’t do.

Obviously McVey has done a deal with Hunt for a top job. That’s how it always works.

Step 1: negotiate for a good position.
Step 2; in exchange, say whatever you have to say and do whatever you have to do.

Scr*w anyone who does not rule out vaxx mandates, passports and any related discrimination and coercion while simultaneously apologizing for what’s happened in that regard.
Not that such a promise would mean much once elected.

“No doubt they’ll be asked the question at the hustings”

Er, they probably won’t be. Apart from the odd unwise mention of ‘success with vaccines’ there seems to be collective amnesia about the last crazy two years.

So far all the leadership contest is doing for me is reminding me why I won’t be voting Conservative any time soon.

Jeremy Hunt teamed up with Tony “our teams are embedded in the governments of more than 20 countries” Blair and WEF graduate William Hague to lobby for the insanity of mass testing of people with no symptoms, for vax passports and harrassment of university students. https://web.archive.org/web/20201120163331/https://institute.global/policy/taking-uk-testing-strategy-next-level

Esther McVey has gone down in my estimation. A long way.

Hunt? Would any of us buy a used car off this slime ball?

Thanks to YDS for confirming his links to Bliar, that says it all. In other words, he is a Traitor. Simple as.

I have never trusted this one.

“Never impose a full lockdown….” well whoopy do.

So he would stop slightly short of the Chinese tactic of welding people in their houses, would he.

Otherwise, removing our Civil Liberties is something he supports and admits he would do if given half the chance.

We must make absolutely sure he NEVER gets the chance.

“Hunt has pledged never to reimpose a full lockdown….”. That leaves us open to partial lockdowns which might be equally as disruptive and definitely damaging.

Saying it’s not a full lockdown means nothing, because you can say anything to claim it’s not full.
Ah but MPs can still go to restaurants, people with blue hair can go to the supermarket on Tuesdays, children can go to the park on alternate Saturdays if there’s a full moon.
It’s totally meaningless.
