Celebrate Second Anniversary of Lockdown at Bethnal Green Comedy Club

It may not sound like something worth celebrating, but the second anniversary of Britain’s first lockdown is tomorrow and Big Brother Watch – a lobby group that has campaigned tirelessly against Covid restrictions – is holding a benefit at the Backyard Comedy Club in Bethnal Green in partnership with Comedy Unleashed. On the bill is the very funny Geoff Norcott – more or less the only right-wing comedian who’s allowed anywhere near the BBC – and ticket prices start at £20. Guaranteed to be lots of jokes about the absurdity of the lockdown policy.

I’ll be there propping up the bar in the interval so if you come along do say hello.

You can get tickets here.

talking of the costs being imposed on people,

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/dwps-new-law-force-more-26526196

The Committee brought the law to the “special attention” of the Lords in a rare move, and called on the DWP to report to Parliament on whether if it’s hit the target. The committee blasted: “Extensive additional evidence still left us with the view that the target is
aspirational, its delivery not yet fully thought through, and the Department’s ability to say whether its target has been achieved somewhat uncertain.”

It said the DWP was unable to explain how it will meet the target or how it will measure it – including whether people taking part-time jobs will still count as an entire job. the new rules have been branded “ridiculous” as they could force people to stage hasty career changes with commutes of up to three hours a day.

Well I see, I’m not sure considering the price of petrol, bus fares and train tickets how the average low wage worker can afford travelling 3 hours a day.

Boom 💥.

That’s exactly the point. The economic squeeze on the average household is intentional.

TPTB want us all corralled into a 5 minute radius of our homes.

CBDCs will ensure that happens.

maybe that’s the point…

I would love to go but it’s a 600 mile round trip. I hope it’s well supported and enjoyed. Many thanks to the organisers.

Here’s a good joke: a regime with a hereditary oligarch as its head of state, which currently runs a country that the pro-regime media mostly refer to not by its actual name but with reference to the oligarch’s dominion (“the United Kingdom”), has today had the administrators of one of its overseas territories (Gibraltar) seize a foreign oligarch’s yacht.

Are oligarchs good or bad?

Comedy material or what?

Any comedians reading this: can you rustle up the courage to mention Prince Michael of Kent’s “links to Russian business interests”?

And another thing: as a former professional comedian, would Volodymyr Zelensky get an Equity card if he came to Britain as soon as he showed his Ukrainian credentials, or would he have to apply in the same way as a person who hadn’t worked as a comedian before?

with $1.2 Billion stashed in a German Bank in Peurto Rico, he could just
flash the cash, Indefinite Leave to Remain in UK within 2 yrs, and full
citizenship within 5 for a small investment of £10 mil, he could
probably get a deal on a swanky London pad from the Treasury when
they’re auctioning off ex Russian Oligarc pads, cheap mega yacht thrown
in, trebbles all round.

Let’s give the Green Comedy Club some ammunition!

Why does no one believe Boris Johnson’s promises about ending lockdown?

Because it always ends in tiers.

I know not relevant to the article, but if you want a good laugh, the NYT contacted candice Owens stating that they were going to write a hit piece accusing owens of putting forward Russian propaganda that ukraine is corrupt,

Candice owens replied attaching linked NYT articles which documented the ukraine corruption,

Here’s a good one on a comedy theme… Ben Wallace (UK Defense sec) takes a call from two famous Russian pranksers, tho they used their real names, they still get through pretending to be Ukranian discussing the Ukraines Nuclear Program…

https://southfront.org/russia-would-really-hate-that-british-defence-secretary-discussing-ukrainian-nuclear-program-on-hoax-call-video/

maybe it’s a tragi-comedy…

Wrong on all levels to call this event a “celebration”. Surely the only way.to comment on any of the covid farce is “condemnation”.
If I lived next door I would not attend.
Disappointed that this site is not against the wording.

Not enough space in the headline to use commemorate? So you go with celebrate? You call yourself a professional word user?
As someone whose 2nd language is English, I often get told my English is better than a native speakers. Think about it!
