New York City Health Commissioner Orders Under-Fives to be Masked Forever
New York City’s new Health Commissioner has caused anger after announcing that children aged five and under should wear face masks indefinitely, bucking the national trend of ditching masks and going in the face of evidence that kids are at almost zero risk from COVID-19. MailOnline has the story.
“I think it’s indefinite at this point,” Dr. Ashwin Vasan said Friday during a COVID-19 briefing in Queens. “People who have tried to predict what’s going to happen in the future in this pandemic have repeatedly found egg on their face, as they say, and I’m not going to do that here today.”
The woke commissioner, who lives in Brooklyn with his partner and three children, including a four-year-old son, argued he wanted to mask children because under fives are not vaccinated.
“As a father of a two-and-a-half-year old-and two other older kids, I want to keep them as safe as possible. I would love nothing more than to send my son to daycare without a mask,” Vasan said, according to CBS New York.
“But as a scientist, and as a doctor, and an epidemiologist, I want to keep him safe because he’s not eligible for a vaccine.”
His comments sparked fear and fury among frustrated New York parents who face having to force their young children to keep wearing a mask in the face of mounting evidence that they are at little risk.
It also comes as every state, including California which ended its mandate last week, has lifted or announced plans to lift masking requirements in schools.
The lone holdout is Hawaii, which is dropping its indoor mask mandate on March 26th but expected to extend the requirement for schools.
New York state and city also lifted school mask mandates earlier this month.
The nonsense piled upon nonsense of this measure boggles the mind. There is no robust evidence that surgical masks (let alone cloth masks) significantly reduce the spread of respiratory disease including COVID-19. There is little evidence that vaccination does much to reduce the spread for long. Children are at very low risk of serious disease from COVID-19. And Omicron is even milder than earlier variants. Plus masks are harmful. No wonder the rest of the country and world is dropping interventions of all kinds, including mask mandates. But not Dr. Vasan in NYC.

So as a father, he would love nothing more than to send his kids to school unmasked. But as a doctor he would like to keep them “safe” by masking them. Therefore he sees his role as a scientist or doctor as more important than his role as a parent! Not only is this “scientist” uninformed of the science, he’s also got his priorities upside-down.
He’s neither a ‘scientist’ nor a ‘doctor’. A scientist evaluates evidence and the evidence is absolutely clear: masks do zero for children. Zero.

You would think dangerous Herberts like this would do a little research. Masks dont work and neither does the drug treatment.
The only ones with ‘egg on their faces’ during this period have been hysterical lunatics that have not only made wild assumptions as to the course of this virus but also have repeatedly called for restrictions despite overwhelming evidence of their limited or downright nonexistent effect.

Leaving aside whatever crimes Putin has committed – these very same people calling for a Nuremberg style show trial for him (apparently the International Criminal Court has some “limitations” so only a show trial will do it seems) have committed acts against their own populations over the course of the last 2 years which could be considered to be democide and possibly also genocide and certainly crimes against humanity and don’t in any way see the total hypocrisy in their calling for a Nuremberg event for Putin.

I have come to the conclusion that it is some sort of social/ethnic cleansing that is going on in New York and possibly California. By making life so unpleasant (taking a leaf from Macrons book) for people who don’t want to comply they leave, it will mean only the ‘compliant’ remain.

Is the NHS any better? Yesterday I went to my local NHS clinic to collect some hearing-aid batteries for my wife and as usual I was unmasked (there was a notice on the door that everybody MUST be masked, but I have exempted myself). It was clear that the receptionist sitting behind a Perspex screen, in front of which was a table and a taped barrier in front of the table, was not comfortable with my lack of face covering and was, to say the least, a bit prickly. Sliding the batteries to me (only half of what would normally be issued – apparently there’s a shortage) across the table, I was dismissed without the usual pleasantries.

I’m trying to find an optician that doesn’t ask for face coverings. At this point I’d rather give my business to someone who has dropped it all than argue the toss about “exemption”.
My current optician gave me some old soap about “we’re still under amber on the advice of the NHS”. Ridiculous people. Another I emailed said they didn’t have any covid restrictions but you did need to take a temperature test and wear panties on your face.
If you fancy a trip to north Cornwall come to mine. She told me in no uncertain terms at my contact lens test last November that it is all “bollocks”. She said she had been seeing patients inches apart from their faces for months and hadn’t died.
Mine was perfectly willing to see me without all the nappy nonsense. Midlands area.

Julian, I had an eye test at my local Specsavers last week. Their website demands muzzles; sign on the door demands muzzles; all staff and the optician were muzzled and on entry I was asked if I had one. Said no thanks and no more was said.
Dispiriting but the test was polite and efficient enough, if lacking joie de vivre.
I had a morning slot at the opticians, until i told them i wouldn’t be muzzed, then it was oh sorry you will have the last appointment of the day because we will have to fumigate the place, her exact words, I told them to ……off.
