Why Did So Many Scientists Get COVID-19 So Wrong?
We’re publishing a review of Mark Woolhouse’s book The Year the World Went Mad: A Scientific Memoir by Guy de la Bédoyère today, a long-standing contributor to the Daily Sceptic. The book is gratifying for lockdown sceptics because it makes all the points we were making two years ago but is written by a member of the SAGE modelling team. Some will say, ‘Why didn’t you make all these points at the time?’, but to be fair to Woolhouse he has been a vocal critic of Government policy since early on. In August 2020 he called lockdown a “monumental mistake” that must not happen again. Here is an extract from Guy’s review:
Woolhouse is committed to the idea that COVID-19 is a potentially dangerous and deadly disease, and I do not dispute that. It has patently been so for huge numbers of people, even if it has been far less severe for many more. But we knew from the outset that the dangers were far from equally distributed throughout the population. Woolhouse sets this against the harms caused by lockdown, first of all as I have outlined through the “fall-off in health care provision throughout the UK”, followed by education and the impact on the economy which itself is bound to impact on the NHS. Instead, of finding a balance, says Woolhouse, many scientific advisors were “all too willing to dismiss those indirect harms” with a fixation on the belief that their sole responsibility was the minimise “the harm done by novel coronavirus and nothing more”.
In my view he could have gone further and described that for what it was: irresponsibility on a scandalous scale, a kind of true engrained crassness that it is difficult to believe could carry so much weight and force. And these are the people we permit to direct our lives?
A personal experience of the stupidity we have had to deal with came for me almost a year ago. Keen to learn and understand more, I had some correspondence with some of the nation’s most prominent scientists. One, who shall remain nameless, appeared on the World at One and I questioned why he had adopted the line he had. His reply (April 2021) included this memorable sentence: “I had a lot I might have said in addition to what [the presenter] guided me to say – I’m sure your experience as a broadcaster will tell you that you are part of a narrative and your role is to fit in with the show (to a greater or lesser extent).”
I was staggered by the naivety that scientist exhibited about declaring it is his responsibility to go along with a journalist’s narrative and what that could, and did, lead to. Having worked for the BBC for almost 20 years I was already rattled by the appalling lack of objectivity and inquiry some of its hacks (with some notable exceptions) exhibited during the pandemic. But to discover a scientist of his status could be so foolish as to believe it was his duty to “fit in” with a show’s agenda was a new one even for me.
Worth reading in full.

Far from ‘fitting in with the BBC’, now is the time for dozens of BBC wordsmiths, autocue readers and behind-the-scenes nudgers to be put in prison for what they have done.
This never-ending free pass for the media to lie without punishment has to end and end now.

I tend to forget Google owning everything.
Reducing their views (so advertising revenue) just to spite a minor upload they don’t like ?
I think the video of the ‘storming of the ITN’ speaks for itself – just look at the ‘protesters’. Tells me everything.
Note the Police filming them all, so they can be picked off later – all saved to file, forever.
You can override an accidental downtick by multi-ticking several times over the next 10 minutes.

Agreed but who constitutes ‘The BBC’, those giving the wordsmiths their directions ?
The BBC is a government department, which is to say a functionally demarcated part of the state, and the state serves the rulers.
Run now by M16- “to keep us safe”!
Run by MI6, just like the Guardian.
I don’t think the Guardian pretends otherwise.
It’s interesting that the UK regime shut down RT, claiming it to be a dangerous mouthpiece for the Russians. Anyone who has seen RT will have noted that the channel is quite chilled out. Yes it has a heavy bias to the Russians, but I never deemed it a threat to my world view.
BBC on the otherhand are perversely obsessed with pushing propaganda that favours the government. When you hear them criticising the government, it’s always in favour of pushing policy harder and faster.
They integrate government policy into all their disgusting TV shows, and build a world view of their ideals and make it seem like we all agree with them. They’re vile and abhorrent.
They’ve never answered to the crimes they’ve committed – certainly in terms of child abuse.
I have always found RT to be very fair. Their reports are far more balanced than our own MSM crap.
That’s fair as in Справедливый….
It’s reached the point where I can’t even watch BBC dramas, (not that there were many worth watching anyway). EastEnders is so bad these days I have to leave the room whilst my wife watches it. I never liked any soaps, but would sit and watch with her in the evening. It’s just not good for me to do so any more- I’m likely to smash my nice new TV!
I know exactly how you feel. Although I have weened my Partner off listening/watching 95% of BBC programmes she still insists on watching East Enders which gets worse by the episode. I cook supper most nights as a result.
I gave up Eastenders about seven years ago. Almost immediately I felt much better.
I have never, ever watched any ‘soap’. But I do feel a little guilty at convincing my wife not to watch Eastenders any more
I gave up telly about 15 years ago, shortly after going online. Almost immediately felt much better!
I have no problem in CONTINUING to get RT on Brave browser or on VPN no censorship. For ages I found RT more reliable than the lying beeb.
Now that they can all become armchair warriors, ersatz generals and the rest of it for the latest craze, with flak jackets, helmets and the reliably sanctimonious Robinson, inter alia, the previous crop of transgressions can now be seen disappearing from sight in that special rear-view mirror the BBC possesses, which can also turn black to white and vice versa in a flash.
They are far too busy trying to devise excuses to put us in prison!
And if that doesn’t work, would you advocate violence?

(“12 days ago” after ‘282k views’ relates to start of thread, not this reply/upload).
Russians largely on schedule then -pushing the Ukraine north and west. The should move the capital to Lvov, which used to be in Austrian Galicia and then Poland!
Lvov is Russian, Ukraine says Lviv, in AH it was Lemberg.
I was there when Lvov, a distincltly German city at odds with both Russian and Ukrainian history/culture.
Some attention should be paid to the city of Dnipro, located on the river Dnieper where its direction of flow changes from southeast to south.
Dnipro has the newly built (opened 2012) Menorah centre, certainly a striking piece of architecture. Kim Jong-un would love it.
Surely this is an Architects’ Model of Schwab’s New Order World Capital ( pity Albert Speer is no longer with us) ready for when he rules the World after the Great Reset?
( Johnson’s ‘allocated room’ is second block from the right, ten stories up, last window on the left. ( no smoking, drug taking, female visitors, or parties allowed).

Late 1930s neo Nazi in style. Not enough architraves (?) for Soviets but far from original.
Apologies to Toby for distracting his thread so far, was not intended.
I’d say Soviet era Moscow.
Not enough curly bits joining the walls to the roofs in Stars illustration.
Soviet era entails many different architectural styles. This is Stalin era and largely mimics contemporaneous US architecture.

Always a good source, thank you (saved).
So Russia isn’t doing badly, and the media lied, again?
I’m shocked. And stunned.
I don’t know, it is one persons interpretation that I have followed for several days but make no comment, there or there.
Here is his disclaimer (screenshot of todays upload).
I have seen a map on nathan.ruser which shows the Russian advances constrained to main roads. The shading in on maps of the countryside between roads may be illusory. The Ukrainians know their own countryside and appear adept at moving at speed around these areas and picking off targets to slow down support supplies as well destroying armoured vehicles.
Kiev being a big city in area is going to be a very hard nut to crack. This is going to go on for some time unless cool heads can prevail. I fear there are precious few of them and the ‘narrative’ requires them not to be heard.

Er…the Ukraine used to be part of the Soviet Union . The Red Army fought major battles there in WW2- do you really believe that the Russian Army and their Commanders do not know the terrain in Ukraine?
Many of their grandfathers are buried there in unmarked military graves – killed fighting Nazis some of whom wore and displayed on their tanks exactly the same runic “Wolfsangel” device ( 2nd SS Panzer Division “Das Reich”) as the Ukrainian Azov Brigade !.
If (when) the fields get churned up only tracked vehicles will be able to move on them, and even they can struggle. Fuel tankers and ammunition resupply vehicles are not generally tracked.
This is definitely not news to the Russians but I do wonder what they’re playing at.
Another splendid algorithmically PC trope, very Pavlovian. Not sure how many of the “Russian Army and their Commanders” were around in c.1941 onwards.
Correct peyrole.
I have been on those roads, late 1970s, very long and very straight (Super Roman?)with nothing either side except unfenced wheat fields with very scattered shacks or bungalows probably indicating the right to harvest that wheat (could be barley, I’m not a farmwr).
Shrugs. The infographic is not the terrain.
Meanwhile some in the Polish government have their heads so far up their a*ses that they don’t have a clue whether they’re preparing for war or doing a clever and fast bit of paper-shuffling so as to pocket large backhanders from a weapons deal.
Pocketing backhanders – and jumping clear- is the obvious motivation.
Good opportunity for the Russian Air Force to test its new weapons and systems against their old Migs.
Russia will have a battle hardened army with lots of experience after this sh*tshow.
(Meanwhile, back in Ding -Dong-Ding-Bat Barmyland, the US still trying to force jab their Special Forces Units with the poison vax.)
…the US still trying to force jab their Special Forces Units with the poison vax.
You couldn’t make this stuff up, but of course you don’t have to.
At least some good News from New Zealand regarding the mandates. The court has thrown them out.
Russia aren’t “targeting civilian areas” either, which is a lie I keep hearing on British state radio. The verb “to target” seems to be a favourite among morons at the moment. Unfortunately it’s mostly used by people who don’t know what it means. A target is selected and consciously aimed at.
Of course if your house is blown up it doesn’t matter much to you whether you were a “target” or “collateral damage”, but the points are that 1) Russia is not systematically razing residential areas in the Ukraine, and 2) the truth matters.
Of course aren’t!Why woild they ? Half the population wants rid of the Nationalist and Nazi Extremists and their US minders!
Aljazera while talking of massive damage and civilian deaths showed an empty street scene with totally untouched tall full height buildings and some debris but no evidence of shelling – looked just like j Manchester after a local Footy Derby!
Question: When Zenlensky has armed ‘civilians” looters and gangsters to shoot at the Russians – how can you tell who the real civilians are? Surprisingly , Russian soldiers will shoot back if fired upon -what would our soldiers do?
How many innocent Afghans – women and children -did we kill in the war because we thought they were ‘hostiles’?
Did Afghanistan threaten our frontiers with missiles and Biotech labs while shelling British citizens in their homes on the frontier? -Ukraine did that to Russia!
Russia announced a cease- fire for yesterday to evacuate civilians – did the rotten UK Media cover that one? Russian officers killed trying to organise the evacuations?
Just read that the CIA have warned that ‘desperate’ Putin will unleash ‘devastating nuclear weapons’ on the West. Sounds a little desperate on their part, no? A quick look at the gold price and the markets this morning tells you that no-one actually believes this.
Just more Media lies then. Just ignore them.
Recieved messages in-box. 9/3/22 11.00hrs.

“Woolhouse is committed to the idea that COVID-19 is a potentially dangerous and deadly disease, and I do not dispute that. It has patently been so for huge numbers of people”
“huge numbers”. Are you sure?
Surely the whole point is that it was clear very early on from the evidence of the Diamond Princess that for the overwhelming majority of people this was not going to cause serious illness and so the focus, from the beginning, should have been entirely on the vulnerable, not the healthy?
Depends what is meant by huge. As an absolute number, totalled worldwide, maybe. As a proportion, certainly not. Exceptional enough to make the responses proportionate, no. Of course any “huge” number has to be taken in conjunction with all-cause mortality. So in summary, “huge” is a misrepresentation based on any rational analysis.
They’re managing to ignore or otherwise dismiss the ‘huge numbers’ of adverse reactions to the jabs, so I guess one person’s huge numbers is another’s ‘nothing to see here’.
Mark Woolhouse could potentially get run over by a truck.
That one word makes every he says or writes utterly meaningless.
Covid-19 is a potentially dangerous and deadly disease, if you are over 80, already have other serious underlying respiratory or cardiovascular health conditions or if you are seriously obese.
For practically everyone else it is somewhere between a nasty bout of flu (Delta) and an annoying cold (Omicron).
That’s what it should have said.
Life is dangerous for the over 80s!
The vax is apparently dangerous for the over 50s – so take your choice!
Compromise, take the vax when you are fifty and you won’t have to worry about the dangers of being over eighty.
Virtually every vax with which Gates has been associated seems to have been dangerous, according to RF Kennedy Jr.
But not dangerously damaging to one’s bank account..
A bit like lots of other products he has been selling for years, a cynic might observe.
People feel they have to say these over the top things or they won’t be taken seriously, but in reality they are shooting themselves in the foot. It’s unnecessary craven Covid political correctness and it’s well past time they got over it.
My Covid Fortnight wasn’t even an annoying cold.
I was was tested C+ duing unrelated blood test for cancer but asymptomatic until 2nd C+ so they realocated ‘cancer fatigue’ to Covid.
3rd test came back C- but I still had (have!) same fatigue.
They just don’t know and are lying when they say they do.
Respiratory diseases – typically flu – account for a large number of end-of-life diseases. Depending on how you define it, we are talking about between 10% – 30% of all deaths.
Therefore flu is more than “a potentially dangerous and deadly disease” – it is an ACTUALLY dangerous and deadly disease.
So why don’t we panic about that?
More important, ‘flu is often serious/fatal in the very young and teens.
“Surely the whole point is that it was clear very early on from the evidence of the Diamond Princess that for the overwhelming majority of people this was not going to cause serious illness and so the focus, from the beginning, should have been entirely on the vulnerable, not the healthy?”
Their constant statements of “we are following the science” were blatantly untrue!
Let us explain Capitalism 101 to you.
How much money do you make from treating old people at the end of their life? Let us call that £X.
How much money do you make by treating the entire world population – down to 5 year olds? Let us call that £Y.
Is Y > X? If so, follow option 2).
Lockdown is communist, not capitalist.
What is going on in the world today is certainly not Capitalism as I was taught- it is Cronyism.
Since they were making up ‘the science’ on the hoof, they then were able to follow it.
Yes indeed. The Diamond Princess though, was stuffed to the gills with the “vulnerable” but hardly any of them turned out to be overly vulnerable.
I suppose most were a healthy old or wouldn’t be taking a risky trip?
Not necessarily – one final hurrah might have been the case for some of those passengers
My thoughts exactly as soon as I read that opening line.
Even the ONS stats show that over a 2 year period it was nowhere near as deadly as either the Ferguson modelling or government and BBC fear mongering predicted.
Something like approximately 7500 deaths from covid – and ONLY covid [not other causes] – in each of those years, mostly in elderly population with co-morbidities.
Correct me if I am wrong.
Mark Woolhouse ? Rat leaping off a sunken ship.
I first came across Guy de la Bedoyere 15 years or more ago as a commenter on Imperial Rome.
Always, hugely entertaining and informative, so was pleased when Topy started using his Sceptic work back on lockdownsceptics.
He was also the Roman expert on Time Team.
Yes… “Time Team” – scrapped allow the “dumbing down” of archeology as a light entertainment show !
I think I must have watched every episode.
It certainly went down hill at the end.
when they got the diversity message and “added” to the cast. That’s when Prof Mick walked. It was downhill from then onwards.
“…a fixation on the belief that their sole responsibility was the minimise “the harm done by novel coronavirus and nothing more”.
One of life’s lessons is to understand that everybody else’s priority is always far more important than your priority. Most particularly when their livelihood or dreams of aggrandisement depend on pushing their priority. And even more particularly when they are lacking in any kind of conscience and are quite comfortable with turning a blind eye to any wreckage they may cause. That’s when everything in their path, including your priorities, get elbowed aside or simply steamrollered into oblivion.
Two years ago, this government picked such a bunch of people and placed them securely above all our heads, with orders to justify the decision said government had already made to impose lockdown. With that priority firmly established, the bunch did as they were told. Of course they did. That’s why they were chosen. It has now taken two years and untold damage to establish that some of that bunch might have a tiny little bit of conscience and regret at what they have done, after all.
Did they get it “wrong”? Only if you think the intention was to discover the truth. Does anyone here think it was? I’ve seen no evidence for that.
“Why did so many scientists” blah blah…
They didn’t get it wrong, they lied! To quote Mike Yeadon, “Vallance has had the same training as me, so i can only assume he’s lying” The disseminators of the biggest lie in medical history have destroyed trust in the sciences and the pronouncements of “experts”. The only silver lining to be found in this giant could excrement that has descended onto the head’s of the 99%, is that many many millions are now awake to the absolute corruption and meglomania of global “elites”.
I upticked you, but I wish I could share your optimism that
“many many millions are now awake to the absolute corruption and meglomania of global “elites”.
I’m not seeing it sadly, not too many awake to any of it in my neck of the woods.
And now that we have moved seamlessly on to War in Ukraine against the “monster” Putin covid has all but disappeared from the MSM with the result that there are now plenty of opportunities for “covering tracks” as everyone worries about the war and the cost of living crisis.
I suppose those knighthoods won’t look so shiny when they’re all sitting in the tumbrels, waiting.
Closed groups, closed thinking, closed minds
Having studied how “scientists” (meaning academics) got climate so wrong, the answer is very simple: group-think and in the case of climate, politics. The way the internet now affects academia is such that in areas like climate, where there is very little data and a lot of uncertainty, idiocy can grow and grow simply because it becomes the “consensus”. And anyone who dares to oppose the consensus with the awkward facts, becomes ostracised. Another major issue is that academics do not have a culture of admitting mistakes. Mistakes are hidden, swept under the carpet, or allowed to disappear with their perpetrators when they die. And, if anyone from outside academia dares to suggest they made a mistake, far from admitting it, they have a tendency to double down to “prove” the outsiders wrong. I think a similar thing happened with covid. They made a series of enormous mistakes early on: they said it was “very low risk” in january. That “Track and trace will stop it in Feb” and then predicted a June peak, when it was patently obvious looking at the rate of increase that it would peak in April. But, true to form, rather than admitting their mistakes (as… Read more »
But without the internet I would have been very lonely in my scepticism this last year. So there is that.
Then, global health deity William Gates, flew in and had a quiet word or two. And flashed some cash.
So many “scientists” got Covid-19 so wrong because they believed their careers and following the official narrative were more important than the truth.
If there is a Hell I hope they burn for an eternity.
I think most of Britain will be wanting to go to Hell next winter where it is nice and warm – who will be able to afford their heating/electricity/gas/coal/logs/petrol bills?
Is Zahawi still syphoning off free electricity from the public purse via his expenses? Perhaps the ‘stray’ cable from his house to the stables?
I’m jealous of people who have wood burners now!
Me too and my house couldn’t have one.
I’m looking at a solar powered heater – only problem, unlikely to get enough sunshine where I live to power it.
Until Greta comes round to confiscate them. Toxic emissions, doncha know.
Eternity’s too good for them – make it longer!
Or they got the chance to make a shed load of money out of it – at vast expense to millions of other people and their lives and livelihoods
Because they wanted too!
Why did so many non-executive directors and major shareholder in pharmaceutical firms get it so profitably right?
How much did Vallance make with his Pfizer share options?
No wonder he changed his mind on masks and “herd immunity”!
As the last of the narrative crumbles it is not going to be good enough to say sorry: heads must roll, senior heads. In science, in government, in health and most of all in the media. And not just jobs lost, criminal proceedings. For a start it should signal the end of the BBC, which singularly and spectacularly failed in its commitment to impartiality and in doing so caused irreparable harm and loss of life and livelihood for thousands.
Agree. Upvoted.
The BBC must be disbanded. It has no place in any country that aims to be free.
By whom? The BBC as the “Ministry of Truth” is the future all politicians plan for us!
I stopped paying the BBC tax a number of years ago. I wouldn’t watch it now even if it was free!
Snap. I cancelled my licence last year. I will still watch a bit of tv if the mood takes me (which isn’t very often), but never the BBC because of the bias and propaganda.
One narrative crumbles, another is cooked up!
They are already in their ‘War with Russia’ and ‘food shortages’ and ‘power outings’ narrative – next B of E interest rates rises and “War Footing” BS and they will be back with a new ‘deadlier virus’ and another forced Forced Max Vax now demanded by a new treaty Johnson will sign with the Gates run WHO – very soon – just wait and see!
Then thee are all the b Bills taking away our Rights and Freedoms they are pushing through with Starmer’s help.
It is not too difficult now to write their script for them!
I see that “Virtual Covid Wards” are being devised by the NHS to require terminal ‘”end of life if we decide!” patients to die at home and not in Hospital – that should help to keep things quiet!
On medical matters: My daughter in law has just been told to wait two weeks for a “telephone conversation” with her GP regarding a potentially serious condition.
I had to wait nearly 3 weeks to speak to my doctor on the phone!
Four weeks.
I suspect that because I refused the EGT perforations AND the ‘flu injection my card has been marked.
The other side of the coin is that I now realise most GP’s are friggin’ useless and a waste of my time and money.
I worked as a journalist from 1979 to 2007, most of those years as reporter/presenter with the BBC.
I too have been appalled at the lack of objectivity and inquiry in the coverage of Covid.
This began with climate change, when my department began running FOE and similar green groupings press releases unchallenged and unchecked…turning them into stories. I well remember the fury of one editor when I had the temerity to check out a FOE press release inspired story and refute it from source…I was senior enough to survive the onslaught, but in my earlier more junior days as a reporter it would have been quite impossible not to simply run the favoured narrative.
I also worked for the BBC and was horrified by our coverage of Bird Flu at the time – massively one-sided, scaremongering and hysterical coverage of a non-event and literally no-one in any position of seniority would step one inch outside of the narrative they had already decided on, regardless of evidence or even common sense. From what I hear from former colleagues it is exponentially worse now, and in the words of one them quickly went from a news gathering organisation to a fanatical cult within weeks of the first Covid report. In the news room I worked in, apparently several journalists refused to sit near one of their colleagues not because he didn’t wear a mask in work, but because he wore one but said he didn’t believe they worked and he did it under protest. They seemed to think that just the fact that he was non-believer made him infectious.
Please tell us more – this all ought to be put in the public domain for all to see what the BBC – and all our MSM – have now become!
Until people stop soaking in the propaganda there is no hope for their re-education and understanding if whee they are being led.
It is gertting very urgent!
Why don’t your former colleagues speak out?
Is there no-one left in the BBC with any moral conscience whatever or belief in the vital importance of objective journalism in a democracy?
We are now in great danger with a censored media with a Government now peddling nothing but unchallenged Globalist lies and propaganda on every front – from Climate thorough Covid to tub thumping hysteria for what could be Nuclear War!
Same reason doctors don’t speak out – unbearable peer pressure and fear for their career. Some of them, like me, left instead.
and left your tax payer funded – majority – BBC Final Salary pension firmly behind you?
A number have. Peter Sissons for one, and he is not alone in that but my 70 years old “memory” can’t name the others. Sissons is not alone, however.
FFS THEY HAVE – try Robin Aitken’s “The Noble Liar” or will that be all made up anti Russian/pro western/military industrial complex/elitist ramblings in some way?
Why did they get it so wrong? Some were paid to, some were told to by their minders, some are deranged. some did it for political reasons and many were never real “scientists” in the fist place and went with the crowd.
Because medics aren’t as smart as we think they are.
We know what happens with the BBC and the others. Occasionally someone with the ‘wrong views’ slips through the net and gets airtime. But then you never hear from them again. Meanwhile the ones that can be relied upon to give the correct answers are given plenty of opportunities.
Ha! Sweet memory of BBC news when Roma were causing trouble in Sheffield. They got on a Romanian woman, assuming I guess she’s say Roma were perfect neighbours. Rapidly off message saying she’d never want to live anywhere near them, as they were a bunch of thieving layabouts.
Look on the reporter’s face was exquisite…
What is not being discussed is the role of a large centralized bureaucracy in all this. A bureaucracy has a life of its own. We need to make an argument that there is no role for the state in pandemics. We have medical experts that cost us a fortune. We don’t need politicians to make decisions for us. The pandemic response quite evidently demonstrated that what is now called focused protection makes sense. Focused protection is something most of us instinctively do. If there is something going around, and we may be infectious, we avoid the vulnerable and take reasonable steps to protect them. But the state is not interested in reasonable steps. The state is always looking for a place for itself. In Scotland the state still wants to dictate vaccinations, mask wearing and social distancing. No amount of scientific papers, counter evidence or anecdotal evidence has changed their position. Their position is based on their own ambitions not ours. That is the elephant in the room. The state is not an effective decision making body for the kind mild behavioural changes an epidemic or pandemic needs. Endlessly discussing what went wrong misses the point. What went wrong is… Read more »
Global Medical Tyranny is the objective from the very start as the support framework for the Schwab/Davos ‘Great Reset’ and population control . Surely this is now so very obvious?
Gates has been openly talking about it for years!
I get the feeling Mark Dolan, Dan Wotton like Toby here still think it’s a conspiracy. The WEF stooges are hiding in plain sight!
I think – like everyone else whom they have to keep up with – the have now fallen into the trap of being obsessed with Putin/Ukraine
Hardly worth reading in full unless names are named in full.
Shh! “Protect the guilty”!
They didn’t get it wrong. Scientists and the scientific religion that they’re priests in did their job for the regime highly effectively. Stupidity among the sheeple has risen – ✓! Sheeple have been nicely prepared for the abattoir – ✓!
Yes and the War with Russia long planned by Soros and Hilary Clinton ( “Putin is Hitler”- HC 2016) will allow them to close down the economy again and put us on Wartime Footing ( wait for the arrest of Russian subversives and ‘terrorists “). ‘Marshal law’ to stop the looting when the panic stampede for toilet rolls starts?
Bank Of England predicted to hike up interest rates significantly ! Just another step towards the Financial Digital Reset while the plebs don their blue and yellow T shirts and demand nuclear war to rescue “Brave little Ukraine”!.
Yes they have managed to infantilize the majority of the population to such a degree that they now willingly accept anything the government or BBC says.
“Accept” is too weak a word I am afraid Bella Donna. “completely believe” would be more appropriate. And when you dare to challenge the narrative and point out its fallacy you are derided as the ‘nutter, who has something wrong with them.
People on the fringes like Alex Jones etc were a vocal minority that they could conveniently pass off as fringe nutters, so could game plan them in regardless of whether their warnings were true or not. Just like Tredeau remember him just passing off any questions as a conspiracy despite the book The great reset.
Funding, or is that too sceptical/cynical?
No – it’s nearly half the picture, the rest being backhanders, career advancement and (the flip side) the certainty of career termination for stepping out of line, at least if you know what’s going on. The corruption of public science is pretty much complete.
It used to be the case that ‘science’ was what you did as a hobby, when you were a landed gentleman like Darwin.
Now you do science as a job.
And modern culture holds that if you disagree with’the narrative’, as expressed in ‘the media’, you lose your job and all positions in society.
So what is a senior scientist to do? Obviously, agree with Climate Change, Lockdown, Gender Change and any other social requirement. Otherwise you will not be a senior scientists for long…..
They wouldn’t have got to be a senior scientist if they could think for themselves and liked acting accordingly. In fact given that most academic scientific research costs a lot of money to undertake and is expected to yield a financial return, they would be extremely unlikely to get a job after their PhD and in fact they’d be unlikely to get registered to do a PhD in the first place.
There are things I disagree with Darwin about but from what he wrote and did it’s clear that he was intellectually honest, a master of logic, and very interested in learning new stuff. For example he hung out with leading enthusiasts of dog and pigeon breeding so as to learn from them, because he was deeply interested in artificial selection so that he could improve his understanding of natural selection. Chris Whitty wouldn’t know how to begin to think and act in that way.
I think we should give warm thanks to Guy de la Bédoyère for his perceptive, intelligent and witty review of Woolhouse’s book (which I haven’t read). I do hope that he, or someone else as perceptive, apparently honest and as articulate heads up the promised Public Inquiry. “Fat Chance”, I hear you cry. The whitewash manufacturers are already working night shifts. For two years I have woken up almost every morning and thought, (or shouted), “Whaaaat? You couldn’t make this lying, rancid tripe up!” But actually the whole ginormous “Global Warming / Climate Change / Climate Emergency / Unprecedented Weather” scam, (now in its 34th year) made it somewhat easier for many to see how things were developing. Even the (comparatively trivial, £100 Billion), HS2 fiasco should have been a warning. Just for a start, see how arts grad politicians were so eager to appoint “experts” to lay down “The Science” that must be followed. Is it supposed that when (for example) Niel Ferguson (Professor Pantsdown) was appointed, neither politicians nor civil “servants” were aware of his completely incompetent, shroud-waving predictions of past public health threats? Was it a surprise to them, that Susan (Stalin’s Nanny) Michie, chosen to use… Read more »
Its been obvious from the start. The ‘narrative’ was already written, decided, SAGE, the models etc were there as props to the psyop to help government to refer to ‘the science, following the science’.
Its is a global con. Just like climate change, and most likely the Ukraine war. 3 ‘wars’ two against non-human enemies, one against an old human one. To have all three so close means that we must be close to the final ‘solution’.
This probably incorporates the central bank digi currency replacing ‘money’ , I just pray it doesn’t also involve mushroom clouds.
“… COVID-19 is a potentially dangerous and deadly disease, and I do not dispute that. It has patently been so for huge numbers of people …”
Here, the word ‘patent’ means ‘created’ or ‘originated’ – ‘owned’ by some party. It is an utter fabrication. The truth of the matter is that just 0.005% (yes, count those zeros!) of the population per year have died of covid alone, according to ONS here.
That’s right, just 6,183 people in two years have died from covid with no pre-existing conditions and no co-morbidities. Compare that with the bogus (aka ‘patent’) headline figure of around 157,000. This is 25x the actual figure.
Only ONE schoolchild from over 7 million died from covid alone. Average age of death was 77.8 – the same as all-cause mortality in 2021. Only 20% of the 6,183 were under 65. More breakdowns of the numbers here.
BBC R4 currently has a programme on online conspiracy theories … pandemics and depopulation, you know.
Personally, BBC … I go on the evidence, not the narrative.
Funnyman J P Sears is deadly serious about Schwab – The Conservative Woman
These scientists got it absolutely right – as they were told to do.
Gates ‘owns’ the WHO – say no more!
so that mindset is still about and being applied to the conflict in Russia, many especially the media and BBC are looking at the now and not the immediate past or future.
If they stop Russia, then what?
How can Russia be stopped if they are mad and as irrational as stated?
the answer of course is that Russia will only stop when its demands are met which are the neutrality of Ukraine and protection of its relations in the regions Russia has recognised as independent states.
As far as things go its not the end of the world but could be if they somehow think they can stop Russia. As a note, many are claiming Russia wanted control of the whole of Ukraine which it doesn’t.
There are many parallels with the media view of this invasion & how cv19 was handled, taking wrong assumptions of the scale and over reacting, not looking at the data or overreacting to the observed data etc.
“many are claiming Russia wanted control of the whole of Ukraine which it doesn’t.”
Says who? The same guy who promised there would be no invasion?
I realised quite early on, when cronyism began to be reported, that the R number way yet another wheeze that the elites were enjoying at our expense.
R has nothing to do with the viral spread and everything to do with the plundering of the state by the pirates running the government, so less “R” more “Aaaaarrr me hearties”
“Woolhouse seems to be keen to mark out his position, and distance himself from the recriminations to come. One can hardly blame him, but I expect there will be a lot more of this to come, while others retreat into the long grass, never to be heard from again.” This cannot be allowed to happen – the consequence of their actions will be felt by generations to come and its only correct that the those involved feel the full weight of the damage they have done for at least as long. None of the ‘I resign and thats the end of the matter’ nonsense we see time and time again from politicians, the police etc – pursue to the grave like we hoi poloi would be be. If its shown that those involved were simply useless, incompetent, blinded by their own (usually political) biases or negligent, then their careers, reputation, livelihoods and presence in public life should be openly and loudly shredded with no remorse or restraint. Public humiliation, dismissal from posts, stripping of any ‘honours’ and disbarment from working in the same industry ever again If its shown that those involved had conflicts of interest, personal skin the game,… Read more »
The big question, of course, is why SAGE persisted in the madness despite voices like Woolhouse in attendance pointing out the errors? I think it is clearly that SAGE was a body stage-managed by those with a fixed agenda, and one that (as Kennedy’s book makes clear) originated in the gangster organisation of Fauci and Bill Gates. That is obvious even from the revelation of SIR Jeremy Farrar’s role in the lab-leak cover up, and the fact that SIR Patrick Vallance was in on the same conference call. There you see the axis explaining the lockstep errors of not just the British government, but the world’s. [M]any scientific advisors were “all too willing to dismiss those indirect harms” with a fixation on the belief that their sole responsibility was the minimise “the harm done by novel coronavirus and nothing more”. It’s far less mysterious when you discover that Fauci not only gave exactly the same line out in the US, but had done so repeatedly when called out on other cost-benefit issues over the 50 years at NIAID. It’s a lot easier to have such an irrational fixed belief if you’ve been instructed and paid to do so. So when… Read more »
One thing they did change their tune on is the Masks. Probably after realising the psychology of fear they produce, and then there is the profits.
Dame – never but should be – Tess Lawrie has skewered Andrew Hill, shown how Unitaid bought him off and how they knackered his tenured position at the University of Liverpool with 40 million little reasons why the BMGF/Fauci/WHO narrative should never be questioned – result? IVM never got official approval despite unequivocal evidence of its effectiveness in treating infected patients.
A brave and principled lady if ever I saw one.
