The Netherlands’ Omicron Lockdown was a Complete Failure
Though many Western countries eschewed lockdowns during the Omicron wave, a few did reintroduce major restrictions. One of these was the Netherlands.
Beginning on December 18th, ‘non-essential’ shops, bars, restaurants, gyms, museums and other public venues were shuttered. No more than two guests were allowed in people’s homes, rising to four over the Christmas period. Sports matches had to be played without spectators. And all the country’s schools were closed.
Upon announcing the measures, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said, “I stand here tonight in a sombre mood … the Netherlands will go back into lockdown from tomorrow.”
Measures were finally eased on January 26th – approximately five weeks later. What does the Netherlands have to show for these five weeks of restrictions? Absolutely nothing, as the chart below indicates:
The red shaded area shows the period for which restrictions were in place. As you can see, they had precisely zero effect on the case trajectory, which began climbing during lockdown, and then continued climbing once lockdown ended. In fact, infections didn’t peak until February 12th – another two and a half weeks later.
The Netherlands is one of the world’s most advanced countries, boasting the eighth highest score on the Human Development Index. If it can’t get a lockdown to work – after double-vaccinating 70% of the population – what chance is there for the rest of us?
It’s worth comparing what happened in the Netherlands to the course of events here in Britain – where, commendably, Boris refused to lock down (see below).
The overall shape of the curve is exactly the same as in the Netherlands. In fact, reported infections per million people peaked at a much lower level here than they did over there – 2,600 compared to 7,300.
This demonstrates, once again, that seeing infections decline shortly after a lockdown does not prove lockdown is what caused the decline. Infections have repeatedly declined in the absence of major restrictions, and sometimes without any discernible change in aggregate behaviour.
Unfortunately for the pro-lockdown scientists, the virus simply doesn’t behave in the manner their models suggest. This was evident as early as April of 2020, when Sweden’s first wave began to retreat. Yet almost two years later, they still haven’t learned their lesson.

The Dutch cabinet did not impose the last lockdown because they believed it would help. It was a purely political decision. The cabinet had already got enough idiots in parliament to agree to introducing the apartheid app and had been pushing for months to get parliament to agree to 2g – vaxxed/recovered only, increasing the apartheid further and gearing up to demolish NL’s very strict employment laws (unvaxxed barred from going to work would eventually lead to the employer being allowed to dismiss, something that is otherwise very difficult). Omnicold came up so fast and the vaxx failed so spectacularly that the plan was put on hold. It is my very firm belief that the lockdown over Christmas (this time no compensation at all for shopholders) was purely and alone to get people desperate enough to accept 2g as long as it meant they could open up again. It only doesn’t make sense if you believe that they believe the lockdowns can stop or ‘slow’ the spread of this or any respiratory virus. It makes perfect sense if you think of it as governments testing the water, piling fear on fear, and grooming their populations for the introduction of the digital panopticon, the vaccine passports, by which they will monitor, control, and punish us. Looking at the shocking physical alteration of an attractive young woman I saw today for the first time in months – weight gain, pale, drawn face, unhealthy looking, puffy skin, listless, apparent loss of vitality – I am not so sure.
She is “fully jabbed” and had an odd pattern of what looked like small bruise/blood clots under the skin of her arm after the first jab. Not reported of course. I sincerely hope she is OK.

Exactly. It’s just evidence, I think, that any rational thinking ability has long since left the building if they fear catching a cold more than dying from a brain injury. It speaks to the fact that the brain damage has already occurred, via the propaganda, if that is their idea of prioritizing.
An interesting example of how people believe things with no evidence. Cycling helmets are promoted with just the same sort of evidence and ‘science’ as masks have been.
No actual evidence, and when our friend Australia made helmets compulsory the rate of head injuries actually increased. This was explained by saying people felt safer and took more risks. I’ve heard that argument in connection with something else….
I cycle and researched it and realised what I was being told was nonsense as people on here researched masks and saw they were useless.
That sceptics on here can believe how effective helmets are shows how easy it is to get something accepted without any proof.

Agreed, the 2 nations Holland & Denmark with the greatest amount of cycling activity do not have compulsory helmet wearing and have a lower rate of head injury than Oz or the US. I have read that the cycling helmet is as likely to cause spinal.injuries with increased weight on the head & as it makes people feel safer they take more risks, weve all seen ar☆☆ holes on 2 & 4 wheels.

Please can you do the same analysis of Greece. We still have mandatory masks outdoors (although there is less compliance, because the police are not so vigilant) . 100 Euros fine per month for any over 60 not vaccinated. 3 month only pass for COVID infection . Unvaccinated only in supermarkets and chemists, or outside in cafes and restaurants with a rapid valid 48 hours . And that since December with absolutely no difference seen to cases deaths etc. I know many people double and triple vaccinated who have had COVID and only 2 (teenagers) unvaccinated.

That curve looks awfully like the one we had back at the start of this when Boris stuck in the first draconian lockdown, I wonder if the curve would have been alomst identical if we had just carried on as normal?

His lieutenant Gates (foundation) only received €300 million from Dutch taxpayers last year and we all know that both Rutte and Sigrid Kaag are enthusiastic Great Reset evangelists. I’m now also convinced that Austria’s cabinet is full of WEF alumni.
