White Britons More Likely to Be Infected in Delta Wave Than Black Britons Despite Higher Vaccination Rates, ONS Data Show

White Britons were more likely than black Britons to be infected with Covid during the Delta wave in 2021 despite having significantly higher vaccination rates, ONS analysis shows. In the Alpha wave during winter 2020-21, on the other hand, black Britons were more likely to be infected. Ross Clark in the Spectator has more.

[A] new Office for National Statistics analysis comparing the second and third Covid waves shows something interesting: this time, white Britons were more likely to be infected. The data compares two periods: the ‘second wave’ (September 2020 to May last year) and the ‘third wave’ between (May to December 10th last year).

In the second wave, the highest infection rate was among those of Bangladeshi and Pakistani heritage – with infection rates of 382 and 374 per 100,000 person-weeks respectively. In the third wave, however, the group with the highest infection rate was white British, with a rate of 360. There was a similar (though less pronounced) switch among the black African and black Caribbean populations – who had higher infection rates relative to the white British population during the second wave but lower infection rates in the third wave. The exception was in Britain’s Chinese population, which had the lowest infection rate in both the second and third waves. The data does not cover the first wave, during the spring of 2020, before mass testing began. The Omicron variant was first detected in the U.K. near the end of November last year.

Ross notes that there is a similar switch in infection rates between waves among socioeconomic groups and geographical locations (e.g. cities versus towns), and suggests that what may be happening is the virus is “gradually working its way through the population”, as different groups acquire higher levels of immunity.

He also notes the white British population suffered from the highest infection rate despite being the most vaccinated.

But it is interesting that the white British population went on to have the highest rate of infection during the third wave despite having higher vaccination rates than other ethnic groups. Around 68% of the white British population have been boosted, twice the rate of those of black Caribbean heritage (34%). The Pakistani, black African and Bangladeshi populations also had low rates of vaccination uptake.

There had been understandable concern about the low vaccination rates amongst ethnic minorities, and vaccine passports were – at one stage – seen as a tool that might address this. But with Omicron, as opposed to the first two waves, it does not seem that ethnic minorities were more susceptible to the virus.

Ross seems to have mixed up the ‘third wave’ (the Delta wave) with the Omicron wave here. The new ONS analysis relates to the Delta wave, not the Omicron wave. Third dose ‘boosters’ began being rolled out in September, so for most were received late in the Delta wave. Nonetheless, it is true that black Britons have had significantly lower vaccine coverage than white Britons throughout the vaccine rollout – the latest UKHSA data up to February 6th 2022 shows a vaccination rate between 58% and 69% for black over-18s in England, compared to 91% for ‘white British’. This higher infection rate among the more vaccinated part of the population during the Delta wave is therefore further indication that the vaccines are failing to protect against infection. The ethnic breakdown for the Omicron wave will be very interesting to see.

the ‘third wave’ between (May to December 10th last year).”

What hyperbole! There was no ‘wave. Just a ripple.

Not much of a First Wave down here in the SW nor Second so I would not have been surprised if nature had wreaked its revenge with a ‘third’ but no, that also largely passed us by as well.

Hospital cases and deaths for ‘Third Wave’ boosted by imports of Live Covids from upcountry, as we say, but they don’t explain that bit in the local press.

The ironic thing with this video is that the author obviously believes in a causal link between the HIV virus and the disease AIDS. A causal link which has ever been proven.
I personally do believe the vaccines may cause a type of AIDS so her point still stands imho

Perhaps the answer is starring you in the face. Change ‘despite having’ to ‘because they had’.

I just got banned by Facebook for the fourth time. This time my posting privileges have been removed for 7 days. Previous bans were two days or three days. This time I violated “community standards” by simply copying and pasting a story with this headline: “Vaccinated have higher rate of COVID than unvaccinated in UK” This story happened to be published at Zero Hedge, but The Daily Skeptic has run many pieces showing that the “effectiveness” of the COVID vaccines at preventing infection is, in fact, “negative” for most age cohorts. I always get a kick out of the messages I receive when I am notified of my bans. Here’s a few excerpts from today’s message: We usually offer the chance to request a review, and follow up if we got decisions wrong. We have fewer reviewers available right now because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We’re trying hard to prioritize reviewing content with the most potential for harm. This means we may not be able to follow up with you, though your feedback helps us do better in the future. Thank you for understanding. Somehow I don’t think a real, live human being is going to “follow up” with… Read more »

All you can really do is tell people you have been banned and who banned you. Maybe a few people will think this isn’t that cute or appropriate. I really do wonder how many hundreds of thousands of Americans have been issued these “bans” by now. This army of “content reviewers” is incredibly busy.

I believe that people like you should quit Facebook completely. You’ll never win with the likes of Facebook. Even if their rules were above board and completely fair, you’d still be dealing with moderators, most of whom would be on the autistic spectrum.   Forget the nice array of names that in recent decades they’ve given various mental illnesses. Authism is still insanity, no matter the type of innocuous names they attempt to dress it up in. You’re basically talking about lack of empathy, social understanding and a complete lack of knowing socially acceptable behaviour.   So, with Facebook and Twitter you have mentally deranged people telling you what’s allowed to be said. Then thrown in a 100% sociopath totalitarian like Zuckerberg, and you are peeing against the wind.   Move over to Rumble and Bitchute, et al, and spend your time there where at least you have a chance of reaching normal people.   I once had Twitter and Facebook accounts, but I closed them years ago. And never again will I open an account on either of them. A strange thing started happening a few weeks ago, though, Twitter suddenly started sending me emails. At first I thought… Read more »

Hey now, I managed to get to 40 without knowing what Asperger’s was, but whatever it is I probably am it. I hate Facebook, Twitter etc and am about as sceptical as you can get. I think the lack of social graces and understanding of cues has steeled me in my ability to stand my ground in the face of 95% of the population losing their minds. Having a highly logical brain leads to many issues socially for sure but one thing it does do is set a very very low threshold for cow excrement.

I post on Facebook only because I think that I might be reaching some neutral people. When I post here, I know I am “preaching to the choir.”

On Facebook (theoretically) I am reaching a cross-section of people in my community and state, maybe some folks who don’t have time to find all the contrarian articles and studies I have found.

Of course, as it turns out, I am NOT reaching these people as the algorithms used by Facebook keep my posts from reaching 95 percent of my “friends.” I basically reach the people who already think like me.

No surprise there. Whilst the white middle classes sheltered indoors the less well off worked in person. Hence the virus worked it’s way through the population the way it did. Now the middle classes have come out to breathe the COVID air, they have no natural immunity and their vaccinated bodies offer them no protection.

This cartoon is so true. People are waiting for the New York Times to debunk all the faux narratives. Once the “newspaper of record” does this, the pack can join in and say the same thing. But somehow I don’t think the New York Times is going to come out and say, “Our bad. We were wrong about all this stuff.”

It’s taboo to question the effectiveness of the COVID vaccines. But I think it is even more taboo to question the necessity of getting a flu vaccine every year.

Since nobody is supposed to question this, I thought at least one person should. So I wrote this article and somebody published it. Now this site has been banned from Twitter for 18 months, but they are still publishing stories they are not supposed to publish. Which I appreciate.

The real theme of this article is that if somebody had questioned the effectiveness of the flu “vaccines,” maybe everyone wouldn’t have been 100 percent convinced that the COVID vaccines were “95 percent effective.”

What a load of old rubbish. No-one has conducted such a study, and such a study would have been impossible to do properly with so much corrupted data and misinformation, myths and downright lies flying around. Black and white people – they can be from any country with any kind of genetics, and then what about the brown and yellow people, Red Indians and all other shades between? All meaningless.

In the Daily Telegraph it say White Christians. This virus is so clever, not only does it know what time it is, if you’re standing up or down, more than 2 metres separation, it now knows your religion and ethnicity. I bet you cannot train your dog to do any of those.

Practising Christians or those not attributable to other religions? I suspect the latter.

of course, the real cause of the disparity is that white people hid themselves away more in the first wave.

wildman10

So, if I read this right, groups that had higher infection rates in the first wave had lower infection rates in subsequent waves. The obvious explanation for this is that exposure to Covid gives protection against subsequent waves, something anyone except our politicians, government scientists and the MSM could have easily found out that is typical for respiratory viruses.

So, yet more evidence that Lockdowns were counterproductive, damaging and expensive.
