Freedom Convoy: Ottawa Declares State of Emergency

The Mayor of Canada’s capital Ottawa, Jim Watson, has declared a state of emergency following more than a week of the Freedom Convoy truckers’ protests against vaccine mandates and Government overreach. BBC News has more.

Jim Watson said the city was “completely out of control”, with demonstrators outnumbering police.

He said the protests posed a threat to residents’ safety. There have also been reports of racial attacks.

Ottawa’s centre has been paralysed, with vehicles and tents blocking roads.

The “Freedom Convoy” was sparked by the introduction last month of a new rule that all truckers must be vaccinated to cross the US-Canada border, but the protests have morphed into broader challenges to Covid health restrictions.

The protesters have since gathered in downtown Ottawa near Parliament Hill, and their demands have grown to include ending all such mandates nationwide and opposing the Government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Speaking to Canadian radio station CFRA, Mr Watson said the protesters were behaving increasingly “insensitively” by continuously “blaring horns and sirens, [setting off] fireworks and turning it into a party”.

“Clearly, we are outnumbered and we are losing this battle,” he said, adding: “This has to be reversed – we have to get our city back.”

The Mayor did not give specific details about what measures he might impose, but police said on Sunday that they would step up enforcement, including possible arrests of those seeking to aid the protesters by bringing them supplies like fuel, toilet paper and food.

A state of emergency will give the city additional powers, including access to equipment required by frontline workers and emergency services.

The protests expose a deep fracture in Canadian society, with a recent opinion poll suggesting 68% of Canadians felt they had “very little in common” with the protesters, while 32% said they “had a lot in common” with them.

Worth reading in full (though be warned it is the BBC so comes with the standard bias).

Trucker Movement is also a thinly disguised White Power movement, so tiresome and predictable as you say but it also shows that ‘they’ are on the back foot, reduced to touting the last of their Right On shiboliths to whip up enthusiasm from the last of their supporters hiding in academia an the media.

The Canadian public know better and won’t be fooled by their ridiculous State of Emergency. The forces of Law’n’Order would be very foolish to make use of any extended powers of oppression that it migh permit.

It’s just a normal development of how dictatorships are established and maintained – with popular support. Only people in the West are not very familiar with dictatorships, which makes it so much easier to execute the script.

There appears to be much less public support for the measures in Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Belarus, low vax uptake for example, and there was that uprising in Kazakhstan “over fuel prices”. Some discussion of the situation in Russia here: https://edwardslavsquat.substack.com

Whatever happened to Kazakhstan? The official narrative was that the uprising was about increases in the price of domestic fuel (X2), others that it was the first attempt to impose Social Credit passes, can’t access your bank, your money! without one but the government backed down. The BBC and Twitter don’t need any help. Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

We want more ridiculous claims like these, not fewer. We need the ordinary person to understand they have a very limited toolbox. Their tactics are associating behaviour they dislike (free association, for example) with something everyone dislikes (the third Reich). For headline skimmers it works well. Preppers in the US are Nazis etc.

But the more they use it the more people see the sleight of hand.

So let’s encourage them. The freedom convoy is very clearly the cause of systemic racism, wifebeating, climate change and transphobia. 😉

Interesting observation.

We ought to have fought back when Marxist ‘political correctness’ and the absurd ‘correction’ of language began and when legitimate and liberating ‘Feminism’, which respected the continued importance of the ‘feminine’ and uniquely female characteristics was hijacked by Androgynous Fanatical Marxist Extremists and Men Haters of the Dworkin variety!

All Conservatives ever did was retreat, tolerate and bend with the constant pressure – so here we are. They now want to destroy the ‘populism’ and Common Sense grass roots appeal that took Thatcher to power and now even to eliminate her ageing supporters, their past and their very cultural identity.

France in 1789 and Russia in 1917 showed us that there is no such thing as a ‘moderate ‘ revolution – the fanatics carry on until they take us all over the cliff. The “Build Back Better” nonsense platitude requires total destruction – as we now start to see around us. .

Here’s a quote from the United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention: “Smallpox vaccination can protect you from smallpox for about 3 to 5 years. After that time, its ability to protect you decreases. If you need long-term protection, you may need to get a booster vaccination.” [Emphasis mine.]   What disgusting and blatant liars these scuzbags are. Profit and power are what diseases mean to them, nothing else.   A short history of smallpox and the creation of a vaccine to defend against it: Smallpox was a deadly disease which killed on average 3 out of every 10 people that got infected with it.   In 1796 an English doctor, Edward Jenner, noticed that milkmaids who had already been infected with cowpox didn’t get ill or show symptoms when they went on to become infected with smallpox. Cowpox is genetically related to smallpox, and Dr. Jenner realised that when the milkmaids got infected with the less virulent cowpox, they developed an immunity to it that was also well capable of defending against the more virulent smallpox strain.   So, Dr Jenner created a vaccine out of remnants of the cowpox strain which gave people immunity to the smallpox… Read more »

Who would trust a “poll” to reflect the true position anyway? I wouldn’t. Polls these days try to shape opinion, not reflect it.

From what I’ve seen on t’internet, the truckers have a lot of support, from people vaxxed and unvaxxed alike. People all over the world are sending messages of respect and support. All recognise that freedom is worth fighting for.

This is something TPTB cannot control and they are bricking it.

They’ve tried to cut off funding via GoFundMe, they’ve launched DDOS attacks against the replacement funding collector; but it’s still operating and donations are still coming in. They phoned towing companies to try to get the trucks removed, but the story going round is that they all refused the job, some saying their staff were off sick with covid. It’s alleged that the police are sympathetic and the military don’t want to get involved. Obviously we don’t know how true any of this is, but the fact remains that the truckers are still there.

Just watched the excellent press conference the truckers held. They are VERY organised – almost professionally so – very impressive and they back up in their presser everything you have said. They just want dialogue, and for their medical experts to sit down with the authorities and discuss how bodily autonomy can be respected.

The only downside to that is you can discuss with these people ad nauseam and they will promise you X Y and Z and then you leave the room and they smile behind your backs and the promises are rescinded, meanwhile the truckers will have decamped and the protest is over.

As per recent discussion here of medieval Kings negotiating in bad faith with the leaders of Peasant Revolts.

Agreements apparently reached, higher ‘wages’, freedom to move from village to village, marry without the local lords permission etc.; most ‘peasants’ return home satisfied; leaders then attested or beheaded in the spot.

NB the Kings and their supporters still lost in the long run as the tide of history was with the ‘peasants’ who were actually upwardly mobile Yeoman Farmers, the backbone of the social revolution then in full swing though not obvious at the time.

Just imagine being a MSM journalist at, say, the BBC right now. Your entered journalism presumably to report the truth. Yet your job these days entails peddling lies and propaganda for what are fascist governments in Canada, Australia, NZ etc. If I were that journalist, I would not be able to sleep at night or look at myself in the mirror. Complete vermin.

Vaxtastic

Alas, this is rarely the case. Quite the opposite. As we saw during the Soviet era it is quite easy to rationalise lies as serving a larger, more expansive goal.

They know they are suppressing some scientific study challenging the melting of the Arctic, for example, but we must ignore it to save the planet. I mean educated folks can handle the truth but you have to be careful with the plebs. We superior types must guide them to salvation. The lies are unfortunate, and temporary, but it serves the greater good.

That is the mentality. They serve a greater truth us dopes can’t quite grasp. That is why it is dangerous. They make the judgment, not us.

The Chinese bid for total Global hegemony was raised by Mark Stein tonight on GBNews and really must be factored in to all our attempts to make sense of this co-ordinated, global assault on Liberal Democracy.

In this model ,Schwab and the Billionaire psycho Elites who despise Western Democracy and the ‘common man’,are just fellow travellers and tools of the Chinese in their Long Game of demolishing the West .

Latest: China, in talks with Argentina, backs their claim on the Falkland Islands.

So 20th Century David, they can’t seize the Internet.

Back in the 1960s Charles de Gaul was facing an officer led military coup. He responded by issuing all private soldiers and NCOs with their own transistor radios.

He used these to speak to them directly over the heads of their officers, it worked and the coup didn’t get off the ground.

De Gaulle was forced out by ‘the street’ and the car workers in 1968. The French were seriously on the streets in many towns against Macron for 18 months- they were confronted by sophisticated tactics from a well trained Military Police Force – and this was when the French News Media were more fairly balanced and reflected the grievances of the ‘Gilets jaunes’ in their accounts (unlike now when the universal news blackout largely applies.) The action in Canada was the power of the convoy on the move …it is not clear what the tactics are now and this gives the ‘enemy’ time to re-group and plan the use of tactical force – snatch squads and targeted victimisation ( usuallu six against one with another six forming a protective circle). I do feel rather concerned at what will happen next. Defeat would be catastrophic.Refusing to negotiate is a tactic – it ‘dehumanises’ the protesters and denies them any legitimacy by branding them as ‘outsiders’ and ‘criminals’ – in a totally totalitarian rejection of the ‘negotiation’ rules of any Democratic society – bit then Trudeau and his gang are no democrats . Destroying Liberal democracy by “Alien Othering” the legitimate opposition… Read more »

Yes a tactical withdrawal, get resupplied, stay on the move but close to Ottawa/Montreal so representing a threatening moving target.
Staying still in a City now is asking for trouble, as you say, they will get picked off and demoralised. I have no idea how you get the police to change sides in Canada.
The real underlying problem is that Trudeau got re-elected. It happened. With all his faults. If this reflects Canadian values, then this will peter out, just like the yellow vests in France. Too many people support Macron’s ‘values’ , which is a terrible indictment of the French.

Absolutely right Peyrole – I thought parking up was a mistake – but if they keep in convoy and circle the parliament area, effectively running a moving blockade of it, could be devastating and little the authorities could do about it

If you look at the history of peasant revolts, you find the ruling classes make fair promises…then immediately revoke them, once the danger is past and the mob has dispersed. They then seize and kill the ringleaders, who believed their promises.

I have concerns about the “negotiations” even tho the truckers reportedly have lawyers on their side. I hope they are well advised.

Look at international diplomacy…it is very hard to get international agreements adhered to, even when this is between equal states equipped with modern armaments, if one side decides it is not in its interests to uphold the agreement.

The rulers are not going to stick to any agreement with the people that disadvantages them or is adverse to what they perceive as their long term interests, the power imbalance is too great.

Once the demonstrators have gone home, the ringleaders are in danger of being mopped up. Julian Assange is in prison, being extradited, against all legal precedent. Sweeping away the law is no problem for these people.

As you suggest there are many similarities between The Truckers and medieval peasant revolts. Firstly they were generally not ‘peasants’ or serfs, a description given to them by their enemies. They tended to be Yeoman Farmers, men of middling property (big naff-off trucks) that generated regular income. They wrote to each other (Internet) and their lawyers; their children attended town Grammar or Public (ie early private) schools. It was fear of losing this upwardly mobile lifestyle, usually to overbearing local agents of the Crown that led them to rebellion in the first place. Those agents of the Crown were themselves downwardly mobile, still dependent on legacy feudalism for their declining income as feudalism itself was fading away, especially after the Black Death greatly reduced the number of actual peasants, the ultimate source of their former fortunes. You describe the practice of the Kings’ party negotiating in bad faith, just waiting for the numbers to level up before reneging to the point of murder. But the days when the Lord Mayor of London could lop off Wat Tyler’s head outside the City Wall (or some modern day Covid Snakeoil salesman hiring a hitman to assassinate a few Truckers) are long gone.… Read more »

“Sweeping away the law is no problem for these people”

Perhaps the recognition of this now self-evident truth is the most shocking surprise for many decent and trusting people whose assumptions about the county they live in and all its Institutions have been totally shattered by these events.

Apart from those who talk to the TV crews are they properly leaderless, Anarchic?
ie there is no head of the snake to chop off?
In that case any Police interference with one or more individuals could/would lead to 5-10,000 individual Armoured Personnel Carriers moving off in different directions, maybe with a rendezvous in mind, maybe not.
The Police would find that extremely difficult to deal with especially if the glorious Truckers have spent time upgrading their individual in-cab security.

the Truckers are worried about a media blackout in Ottawa – maybe they are going the wrong way about this, and need to send a few big muscly truckers to the TV and Radio stations. Or better still – set up a hotline to Joe Rogan.

Yeah if they thought Omicron was bad (“quick Pfizer, mock up a batch of ‘Omicron’ Vaccine”) they obviously hadn’t bargained on the Canadian Truckers!!!

Why do the authorities not try to clamp down on BLM, extension rebellion and closer to home, insulate Briton, protesters with the same enthusiasm as they are the Canadian truckers. Also, it’s concerning that, according to the pole at least, 68% of Canadians feel they have very little in common with the trucker’s This must mean that 68% of Canadians do no want to be free and would rather live in an authoritarian state.

For the same reason that they are willing to march down the street in support of Gay Canada on a route that two weeks ago was deemed too Covid dangerous for Trucker supporters to do the same.

Monstrous Hypocrisy is the name of their game but Canadian voters will see through that and turf them out at the first opportunity.

When even Canadians are openly protesting and in sub-zero temperatures you know something is seriously wrong.

I’ve been watching ‘raw’ live feeds and I have seen none of the nonsense the BBC describes, quite the opposite in fact.

All I have seen is working men and women fighting for liberty and freedom, and putting the good of their country first and at great personal and business expense.

Sadly that is even true of the BBC World Service.
During WW2 Axis generals, as we as Soviet ones were eager to listen to the BBC as their reports gave a more accurate description of the wat situation than their own propaganda charlies would have them believe.

Today a peasant in Djibouti with a wind up radio would regard the BBC output as on the same level as what comes out from North Korea.

Just think of the potential for disaster that the imposition of a state of emergency presents in such a febrile atmosphere!
Then think carefully about the major red flag decision, taken by governments around the world to suppress two of the safest drugs in history, that would have negated the EUA for the “vaccines”
Hydroxychloroquin and Ivermectin….There is the proof that this is an EVIL conspiracy of subjugation and biological warfare perpetrated by governments against their own citizens! Why? Enter the rabbit hole and commence your enlightenment…

And there’s a BRILLIANT comment underneath:

“I confidently expect the experts to have an epiphany soon. They will see the damage they have wrought and repent of their hubris.

After all, we are now on the road to Demaskus.”

THE REAL NORMAL PODCAST

Personally I think it’s absolutely fantastic what these truckers are doing. They are taking back the narrative of fear by force. Something we might have to consider doing in the future.

How JT is still in power is beyond me. He is gaslighting the whole nation. Lying to the population with the words ‘fringe minority’ and ‘antivaxxers’ I think people have just totally had enough!

If I was to predict how this will turn out, I can only see it turning nasty, as a desperate Trudeau tries to cling to power and control by force.

But let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Have a wicked day gang!
