The Case Against Vaccine Passports and Mandates
We’re publishing a piece today by Dr. Oliver Robinson, Associate Professor of Psychology in the School of Human Sciences at the University of Greenwich, entitled “Vaccine Passports and Mandates: An Interdisciplinary Critique“. Dr. Robinson reviews the biomedical, social, psychological and ethical arguments for and against Covid vaccine coercion as represented by vaccine passports and mandates and concludes such coercion is far from justified. Here’s an excerpt from the section on ethics.
Informed consent and bodily autonomy are integral to medical ethics. To override them for the public good requires a cast-iron argument and evidence that is almost irrefutable. Mandated measures for public health and safety that override consent do exist in liberal democracies. An example is wearing seatbelts in the front seat of a car. This is ethically justifiable as wearing a seatbelt does not infringe any basic liberties such as bodily autonomy or freedom of movement, and it can’t kill you. In contrast, vaccines do have the potential for harm.
In the U.K., the Government’s Yellow Card system counts approximately 1,900 deaths due to adverse reaction to the vaccine. In the U.S., the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) has counted approximately 19,000 deaths following a vaccine adverse reaction. Proportionally, this gives almost exactly the same vaccine deaths per capita across the two countries. Some argue these figures are an overestimation given that the deaths are not medically proven to be caused by the vaccine, while others argue that they are likely to be an underestimation given that only a fraction of adverse reactions get reported to these systems. But if we take the Yellow Card figure for the U.K., on the basis of 48,000,000 people double vaccinated, this means approximately a one in 24,000 chance of dying from a Covid vaccine. Crucially, the age of those who have died from vaccine side-effects in the U.K. has not been released. A concern is that vaccine fatalities may include a high proportion of young people, given that vaccine adverse events are more common in the young.
Evidence of the potential adverse side-effects of the vaccine is still being found. For example, a concern has been recently highlighted about unexplained excess deaths in young men since the vaccine rollout. In January 2022, a spinal condition was added to the list of AstraZeneca side effects. In relation to this, it is worth bearing in mind that it took three years after delivery of the vaccine for swine flu in 2009 before it was finally accepted that it caused narcolepsy in some people, leading to a flurry of lawsuits. Where things end up for the COVID-19 vaccines is still a wait-and-see situation. Full approval is not yet granted to them in the U.K., and many countries have limited their use in the young (for example, Belgium does not allow Moderna to the under-30s, Japan recommends against AstraZeneca for the under-40s, and Taiwan has halted use of Pfizer in the under-17s). All considered, we don’t know what the long-term burden to the health system will be from those who have been vaccinated.
When a medical procedure comes with risk of harm, as is the case with the COVID-19 vaccine, it must be left to the informed consent of the individual. Japan is an exceptional model in this regard. Japan’s Ministry of Health of health website encourages citizens to receive the vaccine, but stresses it is not mandatory. Those taking it in Japan are required to be informed of the factual risk of side-effects such as myocarditis before they give their informed consent to be injected.

“But how else to enslave ze masses who have been foolishly given freedom? Ve need to level ‘up’ with China to haff a global government that is permanent, and the digital ID is ze best tool ve haff” – Klaus Schwab, WEF creepy dictator
When one thinks about it, Schwab’s videos, and the publicity of the WEF, are so creepy as to be cartoonish. It’s like the devil turning out actually to have horns, a red leotard, and a forked tail. Almost makes one paranoid enough to believe an evil villain in jeans and a T-shirt must be behind the curtain, operating his real agenda unsuspected.
But maybe that’s what we’re supposed to think!
Wait until you find out about the “Imp” at the Society of Dilettanti’s functions at Brooks’s gentlemen’s club in St James’s.
Classic misdirection.
It’s certainly made to look just too pantomime and Austin Powers-like to be real. Someone really cool is pulling his strings and they are clever enough to make a Dr Evil character that is so comical everyone dismisses the re-introduction of feudal society as a massive, stupid and ridiculous conspiracy theory. Hiding in plain sight. Got to hand it to them, they almost got away with it!
They already did! this is just the tidying up of loose ends and not bothering with the stealth anymore.
They literally publish a book telling us how they’re going to enslave us, then call us conspiracy theorists if we so much as mention its title. It’s God Tier gaslighting.
“Shush ! Do you want to wake everyone?”
Yes, only a swivel eyed loon would mention Klaus Schwab’s book, The Great Reset.
Where is Sean Connery when you need him ?
The second of two excellent articles today DS, well done.
The comparison between discrimination on the grounds of vaccination and discrimination on the grounds of ethnicity whilst interesting does not hit the target particularly well
A better comparison is between vaccination and religion. No matter what people pretend, religion is a matter for personal choice. It is not a race or an ethnicity. If you’re born into a catholic family and raised as a catholic then at any point you can cease to be a catholic. The same for any religion – even the ones that try and muddy the waters between race and religion like Islam and Judaism which conveniently forget those who convert for any reason. Clearly converting to Judaism does not alter your ethnicity it simply means you have joined the religion.
the ‘it’s your choice’ argument to justify discrimination on the grounds of vaccination status applies equally to discrimination on the grounds on religion whatever the law may say. Religion is not an immutable characteristic.
For every ‘no unvaccinated’ restriction imagine having a ‘no Muslims’ or ‘no Buddhists’ restriction and the awfulness of that type of discrimination soon becomes clear.
I remember during my employment law training learning that a policy could be classed as indirect discrimination, and therefore illegal, if it disproportionately affected a particular “protected group”.
Given the high percentage of BAME people amongst the unvaccinated population, I’d have thought any policy requiring vaccination would fall foul of the discrimination legislation.
Somewhat ironic if that the globalists end up suffering from their own “diversity and inclusive” legislation. Deliciously ironic.
I have to say, the UK would be a better place for me personally in those examples!
But… the vax and its rituals, are a religion.
Being fat is also, in most (though not all) cases a personal choice, or the result of personal choices. Fat people are probably more susceptible to covvie, and also to a slew of other medical conditions requiring a hospital bed.
I don’t see the govt encouraging hate speech against fat people. But looking at Bozo, I see a possible reason why not.
Or no Jews
Or no Jews
There is not really much to review here for any decent human being.
And masks and tests fit the very same bill.
“I am vaccinated against COVID-19”
No. Unless you took the useless Sinopharm one, you are not.
You are gene-therapied.
You got a ‘temporarily sometimes maybe somewhat effective prophylactic experimental gene therapy’ to be precise.
“Informed consent and bodily autonomy are integral to medical ethics. To override them for the public good requires a cast-iron argument and evidence that is almost irrefutable.”
Forced medical treatment is always evil. No amount of evidence or arguments should be viewed as changing that. Who decides what constitutes a cast-iron argument? Experts? Politicians? The majority? All of these groups have let us down during covid. The answer is always – my body, my choice.
Not sure what seatbelts have to do with it.
I don’t always wear a seatbelt around town, As someone mentioned, a seatbelt is not bolted to your body and you don’t have to carry it around outside the car.If seatbelts were made voluntary I don’t think the number of people wearing then would reduce.
Are our medical records private or public?
If private, then vaccine passports are illegal.
If public, then who would accept ALL of their medical details to be published?
It’s one or the other. Can’t be a bit of both.
Every quack is a moral philosopher, logician, and great writer nowadays.
The words “denounce the medical system if you want to be taken seriously” come to mind.
Hmm…slight mistake on his mathematics there. USA is not 10x the UK population, it’s 5x. Bit sloppy for a PhD level.
When vaccine passports were first touted by this government as ‘a way out of the pandemic’ alarm bells started to ring and my immediate instinct was to suspect that this was the first step toward a social credit system of the kind you see in communist China – once vaccine passports were implemented for jabs it would then be extended to all other aspect of your daily life and possibly renamed as ‘Opportunity Passes‘ as they were being called in Lithuania that went full-on covid totalitarianism..
I was not that ahead of the game, I just saw this a big Pharma profit driven judging by 2009 Swine Flu fake pandemic.
What about https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/human-rights-act-reform-a-modern-bill-of-rights ?
See Clause 58 below.
You are mixing this up with the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill aren’t you?
Correct. My mistake. Thanks for spotting this. That’s the danger of passing on something received 2nd hand without checking properly! The need to check/comment on the proposed new Bill of Rights still stands I think. It’s the Clause 58 that appears to be unconnected to this.
Thanks for this – shows we have to keep our collective eyes on the ball!
Human rights and personal ‘responsibility’ are, in my view, irreconcilable. A human right is objective and absolute. Any notion of individual ‘responsibility’ and the collective good is subjective and therefore a separate issue. A clever trick in trying to synthesise them – saw what you did there Dominic!
In a collectivist society if you’re in the minority it is just tough luck, you have to go along with whatever regime that is in charge.
Yes, democracy is the tyranny of the majority or in this case the bed wetters.
Jeremy Hunt is not happy! He’s ‘very disappointed’ that mandatory vaccination is to be shelved in England.
He says
“having marched people up to the top of the hill, there is now a U-turn, which means that the next time we have a big debate – perhaps for a flu vaccine in this coming winter – it’s going to be much harder to win that argument.”
Good.
Dear Mr Chunt,
We did not ask to be “marched up to the top of the hill,” but that is what you and your evil government did. Unfortunately for you and your globalist swamp comrades we did not like the view from the top of the hill. Now sit down and STFU.
Regards,
The Awake Ones.
Who would be nominated on here as the worst possible replacement for BJ? So many candidates. But Hunt is one of them
There is one big issue with all this BS. Why do any of us need a bloody “passport” at all for a virus with an IFR of 0.15%? An illness which requires a few days in bed and a few more recuperating, for an illness on a par with ‘flu which many never encounter.
This is, as it always has been, a cover for digital ID. This issue has nothing to do with population health – except where it can impact negatively – and everything to do with coercion and control.
The so-called passports cannot achieve anything for the individual good, only harm.
The injections have been utter failures in as much as they were to protect health and we now know that the unvaccinated are safer to be with than the vaccinated.
Time to focus on the real story – Digital ID by the back door in order to coerce and control every human being on the planet.
Or to be blunt – total enslavement of humanity.
Yep. 2g was to be debated in the Dutch parliament today; a motion is to be presented rejecting it, which was going to be supported by coalition partner CU (finally found their backbone, they never agreed with it all along) and the GreenLefties opposition who were necessary for it to pass both the lower and upper chamber of parliament. The new Min. of Health agrees, as due to Omick 2g won’t work – but he doesn’t want to dismiss it entirely, he wants the ability to use 2g in the future, in different settings… so wants to revisit the issue in time… I said before, he’s a member of Demons666 (aka D66), the biggest EU prossie in the Dutch parliament – that is no coincidence. Re this article – one point missing – the adverse effects in the young stand out more, it doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t occur as frequently in older people. Seeing as a great number of the AEs relate to cardiac problems, strokes, blood clots, in the older age group this is easily written off as par for the course, rather than connected to the vaxx. Proper research is necessary to see whether that is the… Read more »
There was HEART I think that discovered higher markers for heart conditions in the jabbed. Good job there are researchers out there who were able to monitor people. These abnormality markers went from 12% to 23% if I remember correctly
They are having to back peddle on that here in the Uk at least!
Possibly. And maybe only for the time being.
No worries Huxleypiggles total enslavement of humanity will never occur because of the percentage of it albeit a minority which is the awkward squad
I am not even going to bother to read it. That even such an idea could be entertained in a civlised and cultured society. Is there any chance that we might be able to move this to a slightly higher level? To bring things down to a sordid hell pit where you discuss things like this is itself a form of propaganda given the glaring and obvious hideousness of such a discussion occurring at all. It also shows profound naivete in regard to the power relations that prevail in the world. And for those who say that they could well conceive of a vaccine and virus situation where compulsion might be legitimate – you really need to get out more.
I couldn’t agree more. We’ve had dozens of more lethal diseases and never had a jab mandate. England values liberty.
It appears that the childhood smallpox vaccine became compulsory in the mid 19th.C. However the disease’s fatality rate was 70% … aargh. The law was later repealed. We went through the entire 20th.C with these tyrannical ideas barely mentioned … except to be condemned after WW II.
Also, as the Croatian MEP said in the EU Parliament, compulsory vaccination (with a death risk of say 1:10,000) is like reintroducing the death penalty. No no no.
They say these days that data is gold. Can you imagine the quality of gold that you would extract if you knew just how far and for how long you could push people. When people understand the relationship of data to money they will understand a great deal more.
Couldn’t agree more. This should never be entertained in a civilised society and that goes for lockdowns too.
I couldn’t get beyond the headline either for exactly the same reasons and I am concerned about the mental capacity of anyone on here that did
An aspect that’s missing in the text: Mandatory vaccination checks also discriminate against operators of shops and other establishments, where they’re required and their prospective customers. That’s very evident in both Scotland and Wales were vaccine passports are – miraculously – mostly required for businesses of whose business models the politicians who introduced the passport strongly disapprove of — essentially anything social combining sale of alcoholic drinks and music.
‘The case against’ starts from ‘there’s one for’ – can’t argue against something that’s not there. I’m still at ‘there isn’t one for’
MSM is trying to make fun of people wanting to protect themselves with cheap and proven drugs. Ivermectin has been FDA approved for human use since 1996. It also beats Pfizer’s new wonder drug hands down, and costs next to nothing. Ivermectin doesn’t make tons of money. So they know the Covid shot is on its final gasp, so they take it add something different to it, rebrand under another name and charge 20 times what they would for ivermectin. I cannot wrap my head around this nonsense. When I explain this to my relatives they label me as crazy and ask me if I know better than science. I don’t make up these information out of my ass. All this information is true and proven. For some people it is near impossible for them to wake up. They are comfortable in their clown world life. If you want to get Ivermectin you can visit https://ivmpharmacy.com
If a doctor tells you you have an infection in your left foot and will die if the foot is not amputated, you will be given the choice to make. That is, bodily autonomy and choice is something we all accept. It is encoded in the Nuremberg Code and the UN statement on bioethics.
There must be a clear and overwhelming reason to override that, and none of the data surrounding the Covid virus or the vaccines comes close to meeting that standard.
“Not this disease, not these vaccines, not these health authorities.”(Bret Weinstein).
As Chris Smith ( one of the BBC’s favourite “experts” , seen on “Breakfast” frequently) said two years ago, ” we don’t have a time machine”. Exactly. Nobody knows what long-term effects these mocktails are going to have, but the psychos pushed them out to the masses anyway! Nuremberg 2 can’t come soon enough!
