Glorious Leader Nic Sturge-on Refuses to Rule Out Mask Wearing For Years and Attacks England as ‘Outlier’

Scotland First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said mask rules could remain in place for years as they are “not the biggest handicap” people are having to endure. MailOnline has more.

Nicola Sturgeon said Scotland’s mask rules could remain in place for years to come if they help the fight against Covid today – as she blasted Boris Johnson‘s decision to axe most restrictions from this week.

The First Minister said that face coverings were “not the biggest handicap” that people were having to endure as the country attempts to recover from Covid.

A range of measures introduced on Boxing Day to deal with the Omicron variant will be scrapped from tomorrow, but laws making masks mandatory in shops and other settings with [sic] remain.

In contrast, the Prime Minister has unveiled a bonfire of almost all restrictions in England by March, including guidance on masks.

Asked on the BBC’s Sunday Morning programme today if she can see people wearing masks for “months or years to come”, in Scotland, Ms Sturgeon said:

“I hope not. I don’t want any of these measures to be in place for any longer than is necessary. But masks … are something we can do. None of us enjoy wearing them but they are perhaps not the biggest handicap to endure in order to try to stem transmission. So while they can make a difference to controlling the virus then I think it is something we should do. Again I would suggest that it is England that is the outlier here, not Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, or many countries across the world.”

Scottish Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Covid Recovery, Murdo Fraser said:

“Nicola Sturgeon still can’t bring herself to admit the restrictions she imposed over Christmas were unnecessary. The SNP are quick to impose Covid rules but far too slow in getting vital funding to businesses. It’s shameful that so many small companies are still waiting to receive a single penny. It’s baffling that Nicola Sturgeon plans to continue with the vaccine passport scheme even though she can’t point to any hard evidence showing it’s effective.” …

From tomorrow, bars and restaurants in Scotland will no longer only be able to serve customers seated at tables, while social distancing will also be removed.

Nightclubs will also be allowed to reopen as she sweeps away restrictions in place since before Christmas, while plans to extend the Covid passport scheme have been scrapped.

Attendance limits on indoor events will also be lifted – bringing them into line with outdoor events in a move that came into effect yesterday.

However baseline coronavirus measures in place before the Omicron wave will remain, including masks are still legally required indoors and on public transport.

In contrast in England, Mr Johnson last week announced plans to scrap all Covid restrictions by the spring.

Plan B will also be ditched as the Omicron wave continued to recede.

The under-fire PM ended working from home with immediate effect, with the remaining Omicron-fighting measures – Covid passports and compulsory face masks – to be dropped from Thursday in an attempt to win back the support of Tory MPs and voters following the Partygate row.

He also laid out his intentions to remove all remaining Covid laws by March 24th, including basic measures like mandatory self-isolation for positive cases and the requirement to give your address to NHS Test and Trace if you have Covid.

Scotland’s approach is similar to Wales’s, where even ‘Alert Level Zero’ retains the mask mandate, vaccine passports and self-isolation laws. Will they ever let it be over?

Worth reading in full.

The MailOnline article has an amusing typo (at time of writing) that I thought I’d share as it expresses I’m sure how most of us feel.

But they can’t ‘make a difference to controlling the virus’, can they? The whole concept of ‘controlling’ an airborne (aerosol) virus is nonsenical, and face nappies (along with all the other pathetic theatre) make no demonstrable difference at all.

This is just playing politics so that she can claim that she cares about ‘keeping people safe’ more than Johnson does. And of course masks are a symbol of her control over people. I hope it backfires.

I hope it backfires too, but I doubt whether it will. Most voters love the masks. She wouldn’t impose them otherwise.

No one wants to wear N95 or surgical masks for more than 5 minutes. We need to show people constantly the tape and transcript of the CDC telling them their cool cloth masks are counter-productive. Sooner or later truth will sink in. Remember when the lab leak theory was nutty?

Interesting conundrum. My wife, grown children and I are going up in a few weeks from SE England. Being there is no ‘border’ between England and Scotland, and the Scottish ‘parliament’ is an assembly, not a government, my contention is that the instructions from Westminster and the Prime Minister of the nation take precedent over Scotland’s procedures relative to covid.

If, for example, a fine is imposed on me for breaching a Scottish covid regulation, how will that be enforced when I travel back to England. Will the police be despatched from Scotland to England to enforce it? I don’t think so, they have no jurisdiction here.

Will courts in England be compelled to uphold a Scottish regulation England has abandoned? I can’t see that happening either.

Will a court case be held in my absence banning me from entering Scotland ever again? Hardly; there’s no border control.

Devolution awarded Scotland certain, specific, political authority over its own destiny. It was never designed nor intended to deal with pandemics or alien invasions (of the galactic type). Sturgeon is full of shit, like Drakeford, a petty tyrant desperate to impose her authority no matter the cost to Scotland.

If most voter loved masks, there would be now reason to impose them.

NB: Most voters loving masks is something very much different from After two years of propaganda re: wearing a face mask being identical with being a responsible and compassionate human being, most member of group XY claim they love them when being asked for their opinion on this.

I really suggest to stop taking these polls seriously. Whenever they could be measured against reality since 2016, they turned out to be completely wrong. Why whould this have changed magically? Eg, my mother positively hates wearing a mask. But she does so nevertheless because she’s been told that she should be wearing them because this protects somebody from something.

Our GP to my wife over the phone.

“You can’t come in without a mask as I have to protect my staff*. And a third of them are off sick.

Which suggests that masks don’t work, no?

Not to mention, when did “protecting your staff” become more important than caring for your patients?

I wrote to him, point out that a late aunt had been a nurse at Barts when one night they were bombed. I noted to the GP that under his regime, he would have evacuated all the staff and himself to safety, and left the patients to hang.

Instead, she and her colleagues spent the night, bombs still raining down, lower stretched with patients on down, floor by floor, till they could be more safe.

The NHS has had it. No longer serves those who fund it.

GP noted to my wife he had read a paper on how effective masks are. I printed off this for him..,.

https://brownstone.org/articles/more-than-150-comparative-studies-and-articles-on-mask-ineffectiveness-and-harms/

and pointed out to him that his behaviour was a disgrace.

It’s got nothing to do with her caring about “keeping people safe”. She doesn’t give a toss about anyone but herself and her own interests. It’s about keeping strict control over us; she has repeatedly shown dictatorial ambitions, seeking to control family life in a number of ways. She just can’t let go of these draconian powers over the people of Scotland. The fact that 4,000 people marched through Glasgow yesterday in what amounts to a peaceful plea to have our freedoms restored, won’t cut any ice with her. Here’s a clip showing the strength of feeling in Scotland about “wee Nippy” – note that two of the organisers were arrested. World Freedom Rally: Glasgow 22/01/22, Scotland – YouTube

A while ago, the chief health officer of Australia (or NZ) went on record strongly urging people who were attending football matches to basically run for cover should a ball come flying towards them as something lots of sweating men were in contact with before must not ever be touched without it being sanitized first.

That’s called mysophobia and these peope doubtlessly also believe that other people putting on a facemask will protect them from their health-endangering filthyness. This used to be considered a mental health issue. Nowadays, it’s something which qualfies for becoming government advisor/ official.

Sure didn’t make a bit of difference from July to December. Or was Sturgeon not watching the “case” numbers. No other measure (save the no sunbathing one in Lockdown 1) has been as idiotic (IMHO) than masks. The fact that now the CDC says “cloth masks are a magic amulet, nothing more” just validates this. Haven’t seen anyone mandating N95 or surgical masks…yet. But to believe a loos fitting covering with pores 10-500x larger than Covid can do anything to stop the spread, is just…can’t think of the word…unscientific? And yes, it can catch some of the initial spray when you cough (except people always remove it to cough or sneeze), but when it dries, Covid is free to fly. There is no scientific basis for what they have commanded. And yet every health agency continues to push it. And we all know why. Its the symbol of compliance. And sadly, every leader, every health official, is prone to wanting to boss around the lives of others, and this symbolically shows they are followed. I have worn my exclusion badge for essentially all of 2021. I will never wear one again. And here I do give Boris credit. You don’t… Read more »
