Daily Covid Cases Fall by Nearly 40% in a Week – Eighth Day in a Row Cases Have Fallen, Week-on-Week
Britain’s Omicron wave continued to collapse today as coronavirus cases fell for the eighth day in a row and hospital admissions remained flat. MailOnline has more.
Another 109,133 people tested positive for the virus across the country in the last 24 hours, Government dashboard data shows, down 39% on the number a week ago.
It is the eight day in a row that new infections have fallen week-on-week and the lowest daily total in more than a fortnight.
Deaths – which are a lagging indicator of the outbreak – have been slowly creeping up in recent days with 335 more victims registered today.
It is unclear if reporting issues over the holidays are still at play, but the seven-day average number of Covid fatalities sits at 261 now compared to 99 a fortnight ago.
Meanwhile, latest hospital data shows there were 2,184 admissions for the virus on January 9th, up 5% compared to the previous. Daily admissions have fallen on three of the past seven days.
NHS leaders have voiced optimism that Omicron’s pressure on hospitals had already peaked and that the eight new Nightingale surge hubs will not be needed.
It came as the country’s largest symptom-tracking study also found that Britain’s Omicron outbreak was falling last week in all age groups and regions except the North East.
King’s College London researchers estimated the number of people falling ill with the virus each day plunged by 12%, with 183,000 symptomatic infections now occurring every day.

ROFL! Let me just recap my earlier observation:
The covid panic has been an object lesson, for those with their eyes open and brains unfogged by fear, of precisely how and why voluntary private action is better than state coercive action.
The latter is slow, unresponsive to new information, inflexible for particular circumstances, wide open to capture and manipulation by money and power interest groups.
The former is automatically tailored to individual needs and circumstances, allows prompt changes in response to new information, and is more diverse and harder for interest groups to directly manipulate.
Don’t laugh too soon about the NHS COVID-19 surge-hubs. The latest disease doing the rounds in China is related to Ebola.
The original variant of Ebola does not make a good bioweapon because it kills people too quickly to get spread throughout a population. When a person gets Ebola, they start to fall apart straight away.
But what is this new variant? Straight from a laboratory perhaps. And gain-of-functioned so that it is slower at killing people and therefore more efficient at contaminating a population.

The totals in the tables on pages 39-41 don’t add up to the sum of all the cohorts for any age groups. For example, there’s 38,161 cases unaccounted for !
Currently there is no column for the triple jabbed which begs the question, are the missing numbers for the triple jabbed ?!?!?!?
This is seen for all age groups for cases, overnight hospital stays and deaths !!!

Just another weekday in the People’s Republic of Covidia.
Cases shot upwards, though now in decline, deaths now rising after a lag, but throughout the period the reported number of critical cases has declined, and is now at its lowest level since I started keeping an eye on it in the summer. Somehow cases are going from onset of symptoms and/or testing positive and then on to the grave without passing through the traditional interim of stage of being seriously ill inbetween. I’d say the omicron variant must be so deadly that it kills its hapless victims before the ICU staff can even power up the ventillator, but if that were the case there’d be no time lag between cases rising and deaths following suit.
I’m sure there’s a perfectly logical explanation, but damned if I can see it.
I’ve also noticed this in summer already: Sars-CoV2, the first virus which kills its victims without them becoming sick first. Probably causes spontaneous human combustion.
The obvious explanation is that the majority of so-called COVID deaths are just people who happen to die within 28 days of a positive Sars-CoV2 test for whatever reasons. Hence, rising number of so-called cases causes a delayed rise of so-called deaths as some of the people who tested positive die. But without a corresponding rise in people who are critically ill with COVID in between. Which – in turn – implies that the case numbers must be the same kind of bullshit as the death numbers.
COVID has really largely been an epidemic of statistics about one ever since the so-called second wave ended.

About the rising death figures. It has been widely reported that 25-30% of cases in hospital are of people who came in for other reasons (e.g. stroke or heart attack) are the tested and found to “have covid” are thus recorded as “covid cases in hospital”. If these people sadly, die within 28 days, they are recorded as such. Probably nothing to do with Covid but recorded as such
