Back to Normal by February?

Boris all but ruled out another lockdown in the House of Commons earlier and held out the prospect of a return “closer to normality” within weeks, hinting at the abandonment of ‘Plan B’ by February. MailOnline has more.

As the U.K. recorded another 194,747 cases – up 6.4% on a week ago – the PM cautioned that the growth is “the fastest we have ever known” and older, more vulnerable people are now being affected.

However, he said bluntly that the government “does not believe we need to shut down our country again”. Instead Cabinet has agreed to stick to the existing “balanced and proportionate” Plan B restrictions in England that are “taking the edge off” the Omicron wave.

The obligation to work from home where possible, as well as wear masks in many settings and use Covid passes at large events and nightclubs will be reviewed again before they expire on January 26th – but Mr. Johnson hinted strongly that they will not be renewed.

The premier was congratulated by senior Tories including Jeremy Hunt and Theresa May for holding his nerve despite pressure to clamp down before Christmas. In another boost, Nicola Sturgeon has U-turned by following England and cutting the self-isolation period in Scotland from 10 days to seven.

Challenged by another Conservative former minister, Steve Baker, in the House, Mr Johnson said he hoped that once Omicron “blows through” the country “life will return to something much, much closer to normality” and the current restrictions will “not be necessary”.

Worth reading in full.

I suspect its this chart which gives clues… as to the real reason for Bozo and Co. backing off with more restrictive measures…

They will try for controlled demolition [net zero transition] rather than driving the economy off a cliff…

Because giving false hope has been part of the process, all along.

Have you forgotten:
3 weeks to flatten the curve
“wrestled the virus to the floor”
No more national lockdowns
The vaccines are our way out of this
Lockdown to Save Christmas
Celebrate Christmas at Easter
Slow but irreversible road map
Freedom day
Delayed freedom day

That’s just from my head, right now. Much gratitude to anyone who can, and does, link to a definitive list!

We should really act before the masses’ brains become any more mushified, and Johnson burns through much more of the nation’s resources.

That would make England the only (relatively) sane country in the western world.
And I do mean England. The Celtilunatic fringes would still be bleating to the covvitune. But looking even sillier than they do now.

I agree, we must live for the day, as the good book says
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
It is indeed the case that the situation in England is currently better than in many countries and yes I am pleased. Having said that, this is setting the bar quite low, all countries seem in thrall to the vaccines, including the UK, with routine vaccination and vax passes becoming the new normal and I am not happy about that.

Have some sympathy for those of us stuck – literally – in the Celtilunatic fringes – none of us wants to be in this position.

Normality for me would be no vaxx passports in force and no pressure to have a vaccine I do not want or need.

I am struggling to see how that is going to happen in my region of the UK. Right now I think there is a bigger chance of them abolishing income tax!

Emperor Fattaturk is just after saying that the social credit score apps are going to be retained and extended to require 3 doses in order to rent a few liberties (until they require 4, or 5, or N+1, or carbon credits, or tying them to your social media accounts).

And yet Toby thinks they’ll be done away with.

We have to pat ourselves on the back a little because our government is being forced by a just from the brutal totalitarian politics taking place elsewhere – I don’t think Johnson deserves much credit. It was the last ditch resistance of the libertarian wing of the Tory party and the N. Shropshire by-election. We still have bogus disease fear, bogus testing, bogus vaccinating, the threat of permanent vaccine passports. Why don’t you report the police investigation?

DoctorCOxford

Great. I mean, he failed once last June but held his nerve in July. He has to know that there is little you can do to stop a tiny virus that spreads easily. Only way through is through.

Now, is someone will just make it clear to him a mask whose pores are 10-100x larger than the virus is useless and requiring them, suggesting them, is to act as medieval villager buying an amulet from the local witch doctor.

crimsonpirate

Reply to  DoctorCOxford

what has helped Boris is, at a critical juncture, the “experts” have made totally unrealistic predictions which proved to be false-not even close. In July it was 50-100k cases if Freedom day went ahead. This time, before Christmas, it was a million cases by the 31st and 5,000 deaths.
I guess it helps if your current chief adviser is a mad shopaholic not some weird oddball as before.

So Sweden’s approach to this virus was right from the start and the rest of the world with its mask mandates, endless testing, travel restrictions, vaccine passports and lockdowns not to mention internment camps in Nazistralia was completely wrong – sadly there are some governments in Europe who think that repeating the same mistake over and over again will get them a different result …

The most dangerous man in the West at the moment is the Franco-Canadian fascist globalist and former ski instructor, Justin Trudeau. He has used rhetoric about whether or not society should ‘tolerate’ people who choose not to have unnecessary gene therapy doses, which is as close to Hitler’s language as I have heard any politician using since WWII. He has only one step after this until he starts talking about relocating people to camps. The leaders of the US, NZ and most continental countries are also now totally unhinged and openly citing hate against undosed citizens. Never again will these bastards be listened to when they prattle about hate crimes, having now committed the worst ever hate crimes themselves for all to see. By comparison, some British and Australian leaders (some, not all) have looked measured and calm and sensible. Boris Johnson is one of the better ones, but sadly his track record cannot be ignored. Even if he does the right thing now and returns society to what it was before Operation Global ID kicked off in the summer of 2019, he is still guilty of crimes against humanity, specifically in the form of lockdowns, denial of healthcare services… Read more »
