Vaccine Expert Says Mass Deaths and Hospitalisations Are “Now History”
Professor Sir John Bell (pictured), a member of the Vaccines Taskforce, has expressed his optimism that “the horrific scenes that we saw a year ago”, which he says involved the NHS being pushed to breaking point along with mass deaths from the virus, “is now history”. For this reason, Bell supports Boris Johnson’s decision not to tighten Covid restrictions in England before next year. MailOnline has more.
The message came as a leading vaccines expert backed Boris Johnson’s refusal to toughen England’s Covid restrictions to bring them into line with the other home nations, saying that mass deaths and hospitalisations from the deadly disease are “history”.
Professor Sir John Bell, Regius Professor of Medicine at Oxford University and a member of the Vaccines Taskforce, said the public had been “pretty responsible” in its response to the spread of the Omicron variant.
Speaking to broadcasters about New Year celebrations this afternoon, Care Minister Gillian Keegan said: “We have always said ‘act cautiously’ since this new variant came among us.
“It is highly infectious and many people will know people who have caught this over the Christmas period.
“So do be cautious, take a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) before you go out. Go to well-ventilated areas; I have been to a couple of outdoor parties actually, people have moved things to outside.
“So just be cautious, but do try to enjoy yourself as well but cautiously.”
It came as new figures showed the number of people in hospital with Covid in England is less than half the same time last year – despite cases being three times higher…
Johnson, who is at his Chequers country retreat, left it to Health Secretary Sajid Javid to face the cameras to announce the decision, although he later tweeted advice to Brits to exercise caution at the new year.
“The Health Minister has taken advice and looked at the data. I think his judgment where we should go in the next few days is probably fine,” Bell told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme.
“There are a lot of people who are aware that we are in the face of this large wave of disease. The behaviour of people in the U.K., in England in particular, has been pretty responsible in terms of trying not to go out and spending a lot of time exposing yourself to the virus.”
He added: “The horrific scenes that we saw a year ago – intensive care units being full, lots of people dying prematurely – that is now history in my view and I think we should be reassured that that’s likely to continue.”
Boris’s decision last night not to follow the lead of the other home nations in bringing in harsher Covid restrictions ahead of the new year has also been welcomed by Tory MPs who have been at odds with the Prime Minister.

Rationalisation after the fact, or an attempt to preemptively frame the history in dishonest, self-serving terms. There were no scenes that could honestly be described thus. There was an increase in respiratory deaths and illness, and an unusually, but not disastrously so, busy NHS winter crisis.
If he honestly believes that was “horrific” then he clearly doesn’t get about much. I could take him to places n the world every single day and show him things that make the worst of the UK’s covid experience look like heaven.
“Horrific” would be large numbers of people of all age categories dying. In 23 months, I still did not personally know ONE person under the age of 70 who died from COVID. I knew three who died who were between the ages of 70 and 81. But that’s in 23 months. I certainly don’t know of any person middle-aged or younger who died FROM Covid. Compare and contrast to, say, the Spanish Flu … or any major war – which kills the young and middle-aged in large numbers.
I don’t know personally anyone of any age that has died of covid, or even with it. My 90yr old Uncle died this year of old age and a friends father died “suddenly” on the golf course of a heart attack.
In my personal experience that’s 1 for old age, 1 for the vax and 0 for covid.
I do know lots of people who have had side effects from the vaccine, ranging from getting Covid post vaccine, Period issues several of my friends two of whom have had to go for scans on the ovaries, Blistering Herpes, to the more serious 23 year old Liver damage and chronic fatigue, another female who developed a hear condition and finally two people, one a young father with a one year old who had a stroke and died the day after the vaccination and another previously health 70 year old who again died suddenly the day after the vaccination. I know of only 1 person who had Covid and was in Hospital in March 2019.
My 49year-old nephew suddenly collapsed – blood clots in his brain (no ambulance available, his daughter had to beg a lift). He became paralysed down one side and couldn’t speak coherently, and tried to kill himself. My brother had three huge seizures after a long, long time without any – I can’t believe his carers are talking about the booster. I’ve begged him to refuse it but they’re very persuasive.
An old friend had the booster and became completely paralysed. She regained movement after two weeks but remains unable to use her right arm and is in constant pain in all her muscles and joints. Then a few days ago, a member of my son’s girlfriend’s family died suddenly in his sleep a few days after the booster. He was 25.
Soon, everyone will know of family or friends who are dead or injured from these poison shots. There are so many to blame, we won’t know who to hang first.

‘Mass deaths’?? In two years the only person I have known that died WITH ‘covid 19’ is my 85 year-old uncle. He was admitted to hospital with leukaemia and kidney failure, tested negative on arrival, died a few weeks later. At some point WHILE he was in hospital he was given another test and tested positive. ‘Covid 19’ was on his death certificate, as well as kidney failure, but he was down as a ‘Covid death’. My nephew thinks he might have lived a couple of months more if he hadn’t ‘got Covid’. Well, maybe, as if very old people get flu, that can carry them off a little quicker than otherwise too. No other friend or relative has died from this. Mass deaths are now history? Talking to a relative over Christmas who works in social services, she was saying they now see 2 to 3 child suicides a week, where it was only 5 or 6 a year. The young who are committing suicide tend to be the high achievers who have now lost hope. This is one small council area, how many times does this need to be multiplied across the country to get a weekly suicide rate of young people?

We will never admit that whatever the public or the government has done simply did not matter.
