Campaign Group Launches Action Week Against Vaccine Passports

The introduction of vaccine passports in Scotland, Wales and now Northern Ireland has been punitive to businesses as well as being illogical and discriminatory.
In the past few days, we have seen a predictable knee-jerk reaction to a ‘new variant’ with talk of introducing ‘Plan B’ restrictions in England and further restrictions. This is a complete overreaction given that experts in South Africa and the WHO have all said that the Omicron variant currently presents ‘mild symptoms’.
One of the founding principles of #Together is that ordinary people should have their voices heard. With almost 150,000 signatories, growing daily, #TogetherUK is organising Action Week from December 6th – 10th to stand united against the introduction of vaccine passports here in England and to fight for their removal throughout the rest of the U.K.
Supporters and signatories of the #Together Declaration will take part in a five day action plan to lobby their local MP daily, culminating in either a visit to their local MP surgery or where that is not possible, to broadcast from their local high street on Friday December 10th.

I did what they asked even though it was almost certainly a waste of time, but I am touched by the apparent naivete of assuming MPs will even see these communications. I got one or two replies from my MP very early on in the covid nonsense, and some more automated replies, then nothing. I am pretty sure my emails go straight into trash now.

In the case of the MP here, who is the “no mistletoe snogging” individual, the usual zero response is nothing new, even pre-Covid; or, if lucky, it may be one of astonishing rudeness and impertinence. Expectations of anything “off-piste” or even “au point” from an apparatchik Tory MP who has greasy-poled to Cabinet are bound for disappointment.
MPs like many other publicly funded collaborators, will at some point have to answer in full for their part in the Covid scam. None of these traitors should be treated with leniency.
No chance: they will be lauded and praised and probably given a big pay rise for their magnificent part in saving the universe!

I have actually had a reply from my MP every time I have written, about four times overall. Admittedly not committing to anything, but did look as if the reply was written by the man himself, and made some attempt to address fears about the direction the country is heading in. Points I raised about possible government conspiracies were quietly not replied to, however. Writing might feel like a pointless exercise, but we are doing our bit by getting it on the record.
Getting things on the record is crucial and what everyone abhors.
I did it with my golf club, who discriminates against the unvaxxed now.

It means they can’t say anymore that they didn’t know, or just obeyed orders, followed the law etc..
Again, it’s crucial and we must do it as often as and everywhere we can.

I’ve written to every Conservative and Labour MP and, although parliamentary protocols rule that they are under no obligation to respond to non-constituents, I’m pleased to say that a number have had the decency to reply and, furthermore, some have openly declared their opposition to vaccine passports. Do not give up. There’s still hope that there are enough decent MPs to derail this. The Lib Dems have already declared their opposition.
My (notionally) Tory MP is useless, and one of the former ‘Grieve 12’ – those who almost brought the government down in 2019 to try and get Brexit watered down/cancelled. Needless to say, I was not happy at this and emailed him, and got a rather terse reply.
No way will he be of any use on COVID (like you Julian, he’ll likely just bin any email from me or send the obligatory ‘standard’ response that says nothing), where I suspect he’s 100% on board with all the authoritarianism – after all, it’s the EU leading the field on that with Australia a close second.
I have had a few replies from my MP (Tory), but when it comes to difficult questions he either dodges them completely or doesn’t reply.
Same – a couple of replies early on, and always politely explaining why the govt actions are right and I am wrong….then no response….which was preferable to the polite crap! I won’t bother again until I really need to
I read a story a few years back about a Labour local councillor in Glasgow, back when it was a bit of a one party state, who apparently once told someone with some pride that letters from his constituents went straight in the bin. I joined twitter specifically to vote ‘no’ but the link went nowhere. So I searched “gmb poll” and it seems it has been pulled. I found references to it, though: it looks as though votes were strongly against.
