New York City Announces Vaccine Mandate for Private Sector Workers

Since October, New York City has required all public sector workers, such as teachers, police officers, and civil servants, to be vaccinated against Covid, and has recently announced that the mandate will soon extend to all private sector employees. The policy will come into force on December 27th, with Mayor Bill de Blasio calling it a “pre-emptive strike” against a potential winter surge in Covid cases. Metro has the story.

The aggressive, first-of-its-kind measure, is what de Blasio is calling a “pre-emptive strike” to combat the expected surge in Covid cases this winter, as the Delta and Omicron variants create growing cause for concern.

“We in New York City have decided to use a pre-emptive strike, to really do something bold to stop the further growth of Covid and the dangers it’s causing to all of us,” the soon-to-be departing mayor said Monday morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe show.

Vaccination requirement for hospital and nursing home staff as well as city employees, including teachers, police officers and firefighters has been in place since October.

“Omicron is here, and it looks like it’s very transmissible. The timing is horrible with the winter months,” de Blasio said.

“So as of today, we’re going to announce a first-in-the-nation measure. Our health commissioner will announce a vaccine mandate for private sector employers across the board.”

The mayor is expected to provide additional details to the new policy at a 10am briefing.

The policy will take effect on December 27th.

The city’s Health Commissioner Dave Chokshi said Monday children were the group most affected currently by breakthrough Covid cases, emphasizing the need to expand protections for vulnerable youth.

The mayor is also broadening the city’s Key to NYC vaccine mandate for city businesses, indoor dining, gyms, theatres and other entertainment venues to now include children ages 5 to 11 years-old. Beginning December 14th, children in that age group will be required to show proof of at least one shot.

According to the mayor’s office about 20% of those children have gotten at least one shot of the vaccine.

De Blasio said he expects the new mandate to survive any legal challenges. A spokesperson for the mayor said the private sector mandate will apply to roughly 184,000 businesses.

Additional guidance will be issued on December 15th, de Blasio said.

Yes – common colds did exist before omicron and it was also well known that common cold could cause a cardiac arrests too. In fact whenever I was coming down with the sniffles I would always pop into Boots on the way home to buy a packet of strepsils, a box of lemsips and a heart defibrillator just in case /sarc 😉

I’m not so sure about the doctors, as a group. In America (which, thank G*d, has no NHS) the hospital corporations (like HCA) most certainly are. The doctors are probably under pressure to “go along”, but for instance, they know what masks don’t do. They also know that H1N1’s still around, et cetera, et cetera. The hospitals are flat-out whoring themselves.

When you try to vaccinate your way out of a pandemic all you end up doing is creating an arms race between never ending vaccinations of the population and a virus that is constantly mutating to side-step the vaccinated – its the vaccinated who are stimulating these new vaccine resistant variants not the unvaccinated …

Worrying if true … I mean where does this end? We have governments mandating vaccinations and saying – we need more people to get vaccinated – but its their endless vaccination strategy that appears to be the root cause of the problem …

Watch Robert Malone explain why you cannot vaccinate your way out of a pandemic … and how this strategy of universal vaccines is actually prolonging the problem …

A lesson that should have been learned already. They’ve been spraying crops with pesticides for decades only to result in weeds (wild plants) super resilient to weed killer, nature always wins in the end, & that’s the problem with liberals their concept of nature (scientism) is totally corrupt.

amanuensis

Quite.

I’d note that the replication time of covid is measured in days, that of weeds in months. It is the replication timescale that defines the evolution rate.

RW

Reply to  I am Spartacas

Evolution is not based on some sort of directed agenda and virus don’t and can’t sidestep anything. Mutations happen constantly due to essentially random errors occurring during cellular reproduction, also when it’s being utitilzed by a virues. Should a specific mutation confer a reproductional advantage, descendants of the mutated virus will eventually become dominant, ie, replace other variants of the same virus. This happens regardless of vaccination and viruses usually don’t win this accidental arms race. Otherwise, the human race would have died out a long time ago and Sars-CoV2 is not special. It’s just another virus and not even a particularly dangerous one. The so-called pandemic we’re still undergoing at the moment is mass testing-driven bullshit and the reason why the current batch of Corona vaccines don’t help against this is because they don’t confer sterilizing immunity. Even if they did, infections would still occur (the immune system is not something like antiviral AA artilley capable of taking down approaching viruses) and could probably – with a sufficiently high cycle threshold – still be detected via PCR testing. The way to get out of the pandemic hamster wheel is to stop mass testing of healthy people and focus instead… Read more »

The situation with offices is a vicious circle. I don’t mind working at home some of the time although don’t particularly like it, but have been avoiding our main office throughout because of the utterly dispiriting Covidian rituals which are enfored there, and the lack of people due to not dropping the whole ‘distancing’ crap at all (it’s fine to get there on a packed train, but when you get there it’s only allowed for certain desks to be used). Was using a branch office which was nearly back to normal, but in the past few weeks that’s gone all Covidian again, so it’s back at home.

The situation seems to be that the rituals are justified on the grounds that otherwise the terrified won’t go to the office – but in practice they mostly don’t go in anyway, and neither do the non-terrified because they are sick of the rituals.

They’re worrying about the unvaccinated creating the escape variants.

This is nonsense for a leaky vaccine, in which the selective pressure for vaccine escape occurs in the vaccinated*, but actual science seems to have been dropped many months ago (if it was ever considered in the first place).

*See Gandon et al, Nature 414 for details.

RW

Selective pressure is a nonsense term. Nothing puts viruses under pressure and they don’t act according to pressure. They change with some frequency due to the way the reproduce. Some of these changes might improve their chances of reproducing in future given X. Most of them won’t and will actually rather result in defective viruses.

Something I passionately hate about the whole Corona drama is that it’s basically being staged by two opposing political sects both of which try to employ the so-called pandemic to their advantage. They’re both lying and will often literally steal phrases from each other in order to employ soundbites which work. And the general population is a victim of both.

Germany Set To Push Ahead With Child Vaccinations As Study Finds Zero Deaths From COVID
A new pre-print study examining the deaths of children aged 5-11 from COVID in Germany has found that there have been no deaths of healthy children from the disease. Examining a range of data sources, the study found that the case fatality rate (the likelihood of dying if infected) for children under 18 was 0.09 per 10,000 or roughly one in 100,000.

Comment from Steve Kirsh’s newsletter Craig Paardekooper has made 2 highly enlightening and disturbing. I think everyone will want to see these. In this one, Craig has created a pivot table with US states on the horizontal axis and successive vaccine batches on the vertical axis. It turns out that most batches have fairly rare side effects, but in about 1 in 200 batches, the number of side effects is more than 1000 times higher. These side effects are visible in all states.  https://rumble.com/vq9q2n-vaers-analysis-1-in-200-vaccine-batches-has-more-than-1000x-adverse-events-.html We seem to be dealing with Russian roulette where the revolver has about 200 chambers. As you take more and more boosters, the chance that the weapon will fire if you or a loved one is jabbed, increases. In this video he has made a scatter plot with time on x-axis and number of side effects from VAERS on y-axis. The rolling time corresponds well to the batches used. https://rumble.com/vq9pde-highly-disturbing-vaers-analysis-clear-patterns-in-toxic-vaccine-batches-cr.html The analysis shows that about 80% of the batches have at most 1 or 2 negative side effects per batch. About 19.5% of the batches have side effects well above the background value, and 0.5% of the batches (1 in 200) are extremely toxic, with side effects… Read more »

You can literally kill entire, or selected populations, with the right code sequences and knowing the targets. Folks need to wake up this one big data gathering exercise. When its all said and done, they will literally have selected kill shots for every cohort population.
